Operation Noselift - S2-E18

Revealing mistake: When Henry is trying to convince Baker how wonderful the camp is, Henry says that they "had 'The Thing' and 'The Blob' both in one week". "The Blob" was made in 1958. This season of M*A*S*H is set in 1951 and 1952 (and the war ended in 1953).

Alcoholics Unanimous - S3-E9

Revealing mistake: When the tent roof caves in and the projector shorts out in a gush of water from above, you can see that actually the projector "shorts out" before the tent roof ruptures. The crew probably didn't want to risk the pyrotechnic devices getting wet.

xx:xx:xx

House Arrest - S3-E18

Revealing mistake: In the swamp during the movie, Frank comes up and talks to Igor, who is running the projector. Although there is a film running, there is no film on either the supply or take-up reels.

Revealing mistake: The first scene is set in the X-Ray room. There is an X-Ray up on a lightbox in the background. Towards the end of episode 14, there is a scene in the O.R. - the exact same X-Ray is visible in the background there as well.

Lt. Radar O'Reilly - S5-E4

Revealing mistake: When Radar salutes Major Burns dropping the package, you can see wet spots on his uniform where he held the package. Before the bottle inside breaks, it is supposed to be dry. The crew probably re-used a single package for several takes of the shot.

Check-Up - S3-E7

Revealing mistake: As Hawkeye calls for quiet in the officers' club, Henry pulls the tonearm off the record player, it comes away trailing a long wire behind it. Why would it even have a long wire to trail? After all, wire costs money too. It's not like the tonearm is designed to come off and be used remotely. My guess is: they lengthened it, so the shot could be taken several times without repairing the record player every time. Now, WHY they would do it that way and not simply use a dud record player is beyond me.

Dear Sis - S7-E14

Revealing mistake: When the ambulance arrives in the compound at Christmas eve, it drives through the newly fallen snow, but it doesn't leave any tracks. Vehicles driving over a very thin snow cover always leave dark tracks, because the pressure instantly melts the snow just below the wheels. Even a person walking through the snow would leave dark footprints under these conditions.

It Happened One Night - S4-E3

Revealing mistake: When Hawkeye and Margaret turn toward the stove, and he says "Are you hungry?", watch the can. Though it is meant to look like it blew the top off, it is plain that the top was just set into the top, and a blast of air was used to blow it open. This is because of the sound, and a stream of vapor that often accompanies a blast from an air gun. A sealed can set on a heat source would have burst not only from the top, but also from the side at a seam, or the bottom. Also, they were about five feet away from the can, and the beans went up, not out at a ninety degree angle. So they wouldn't get beaned. Beans on the face were for comic effect.

Revealing mistake: When Radar carries the field phone from Col. Potter's desk over to Hawkeye who is squatting in the corner, the phone doesn't have a phone line attached. Dear Mildred - S4-E7

Revealing mistake: In the shot where the horse kicks in the door, there's actually two shots - a kick, a quick cut, another kick. If you look closely, you can see how the hoof of one of the horse-leg props breaks off during the first kick. The second kick is performed by one leg only. If you look really closely - and probably use the slow-motion function - you can even make out the hand of the one wielding the leg through the hole made in the first kick.

The Gun - S4-E13

Revealing mistake: When Radar walks into the supply room, he carries four or five ammunition belts around his neck. Since he stows them in the gun bin, it has to be assumed that they are not meant to be empty. If they were only half filled each, he would still be carrying something in the area of 60-100lb. However he moves with absolutely no visible strain and tosses the belts into the gun bin with ease. Elsewhere in the series Radar is depicted as being none too strong. Clearly the magazine pouches were stuffed with something light and the effect carrying the real weight would have on Radar was overlooked.

Mistakes

Hawkeye calls a number of people into the mess tent over the PA - the ones he allegedly suspects of being behind the thefts he is suspected of himself. Interestingly enough, Ho Jon, later revealed to be the guilty party, is not on Hawkeye's list - yet he shows up uninvited, just to be ensnared by Hawk's clever ploy. Note also that he had no way of knowing what the purpose of the meeting was, so we cannot ascribe to him the motive of wanting to find out how much Hawkeye knew.
