Show generally

Plot hole: During Season 4, at Graduation, Andy informs Jack that she is 'deferring Harvard for a year' and going back to Italy instead, as she is happy there. Therefore, it makes logical sense that we never see Andy's character in all of Season 5, when all the other major characters ended up in Boston together. But it doesn't explain Season 6, when Andy should have been back in Boston attending Harvard University. It isn't likely she would have jeopardised her education and deferred a prestigious college like Harvard for more than a year (they probably wouldn't allow it); and if she was, in fact attending Harvard in Boston during Season 6 and she was such good friends with everyone, surely she would have hung out with them at times! Everyone else did. It doesn't make logical sense that Andy was attending college in Boston along with everyone else that year, but they never saw her at all. And they never explained her absence at all in the scripts. Plus the fact that in the Series Finale, she is at Mass. General in Boston furthering her medical training; implies she did indeed attend Harvard for her undergraduate, Pre-Med education.

Pilot (aka Emotions in Motion) - S1-E1

Deliberate mistake: Throughout the first episode, Jen's bangs are long in scenes relating to her "Grams" and short in all other scenes. This is because the scenes involving her storyline with Grams was shot much later, after the show was picked up. (00:05:45 - 00:16:15)

Pilot (aka Emotions in Motion) - S1-E1

Visible crew/equipment: It's morning at Jen's and Grams'. Jen is seated at the kitchen table downstage/far left. Grams is upstage/right at the stove scrambling eggs. Grams crosses downstage to put the eggs in front of Jen and the mic overhead upstage/right peeks out just a tiny bit. Grams crosses back to the stove. Suddenly the microphone - including the rod the mic is on - just drops down almost completely into the frame over Grams' head and is not pulled back up.

Suggested correction: Joey is upset that Jen and Dawson are going out in the first place. It's not surprising that in her frustration, she wasn't paying attention to what she was doing, or else purposefully short-changed them on coke out of spite.

The Scare (aka Friday the 13th) - S1-E11

Continuity mistake: When Pacey drives Joey and Dawson to the market to get party supplies, they leave in broad daylight. It can't be more than a few minutes down the road, being such a small town. Yet as they drive there, the sun is suddenly going down, and when they arrive at the store it's dark and night time. It couldn't have gone from broad daylight to dark night time in that short period of time. It appears to be a very long drive, but it's just the local market.

The Scare (aka Friday the 13th) - S1-E11

Plot hole: When Pacey drives them all to the market, he explains that he had to 'steal' the car from his family, and thus doesn't have the keys. He makes Joey stay in the car while they are shopping, because he can't turn off the car. But later, at the end of the episode, Pacey suddenly goes running out of Dawson's house late at night, jumps into the same car and turns keys in the ignition to start it and drive off in a hurry. How would he suddenly have the keys to the car? He drove them all straight to Dawson's house from the market, with the crazy girl - and the car had been there ever since. He had no time to go back home to get the keys; and it isn't likely his father, the town sheriff, would allow his underage son without a legal driver's license, to have the keys.

The Kiss - S2-E1

Audio problem: During Paul Stupin's narrative of this episode, he talks about the scene when Dawson first arrives to pick Joey up for their first date. Only Paul accidently mentions that this scene played on another, previous date they had at the end of Season 1 which ended in disarray, and Joey storming away from the theater. There was no date like that at the end of Season 1; he is apparently confusing that memory with the current scene being shown on screen, which is the actual date. (00:25:35)

Crossroads - S2-E2

Continuity mistake: When Joey finds Dawson at Pacey's Pier Party, it is raining heavily. Both Dawson and Joey get soaked and their hair is very wet as they reunite and kiss. At this point, it suddenly stops raining and does not rain again the rest of the time at the pier. But later, when Jen and Abby are talking behind them, both times Dawson and Joey are shown from the rear their hair is noticeably dry, wavy and styled. Later, when Dawson and Joey are talking again before she goes home, their hair is once again very wet and combed flat against their heads. Also, neither Jen or Abby's hair appeared wet at all during the party.

Full Moon Rising - S2-E5

Continuity mistake: When Pacey is at Andie's house waiting for their date, he picks up a family photo of the entire McPhee family. There is a close-up of this photo, and you can see all family members including Andie's dead brother, Tim, and her father. Look closely at the man representing her father in the photo. It is not David Dukes, the actor who later plays her father. Apparently this scene was shot/photo made before David Dukes was available. (00:26:05)

Full Moon Rising - S2-E5

Plot hole: Jack and Joey are desperate to get the tank pump fixed so they can put the lobsters back in. However, once the customer tells them how to fix it, they then stop for a chat, check his table for tips, read a poem, share a moment, and start cleaning counters - with no attempt to re-house the lobsters.

Full Moon Rising - S2-E5

Continuity mistake: When Pacey is at Andie's house waiting for their date, he picks up a family photo of the entire McPhee family. There is a close-up of this photo, and you can see all family members including Andie's dead brother, Tim, and her father. In addition to the Father in the photo not being actor David Dukes, there is a completely different person in the photo representing Tim, the dead brother, than the actor who portrayed him in Andie's delusions later in the season. The person in the photo is sandy blond haired, and the actor who later portrayed him in the show was a different person with very dark hair.

The Election - S2-E9

Plot hole: Season 2 picks up with everyone still in Sophomore year, which continues until the end of that Season. So we are presumably well into the Sophomore school year, and yet during this episode there are suddenly elections for the Sophmore President and Vice President. It doesn't make sense they would wait until this far into Sophomore year to be electing officers *for* the Sophomore year! Too much time has passed; normally elections like that would be held at the beginning of the year so the people elected can do their jobs longer, for the entire Sophomore year.

Suggested correction: As a suggestion: Most, but not all high schools are four years in length. My understanding is season one is actually their freshman year. Joey is debating going off to France. Season two begins, they shared their kiss, and must be ending freshman year approaching sophomore year in the next few episodes, meaning it isn't late at all to have class elections. Pacey, Dawson, and Joey all turn sixteen in season two, they had to have been barely sophomores.

Jen: What about you, Joe? Are you a virgin?
Joey: You kidding? Years ago. Trucker named Bubba.

Pilot (aka Emotions in Motion) - S1-E1

Trivia: There was an alternate scene filmed for the Pilot Presentation, where Tamara is first introduced in the Video Store with Pacey and Dawson. In this alternate scene; the location was an actual Video Store located in Southport, about 50 miles away from Wilmington, NC. They decided to reshoot the scene using a smaller Video Store in Wilmington that didn't look like a chain. Once the show was picked up for a Series, they needed a Video Store location that they could use easily every week. Also, in the alternate scene Tamara is wearing a more conservative outfit of black that covered her quite a bit. They put her in a much sexier dress for the aired version. Tamara's wardrobe and the location were changed to give a better tone to the show.

...Must Come to an End (2) - S6-E24

Question: The ending scene of the Series Finale shows Joey and Pacey apparently living together in a high-rise apartment. The TV looks the same as her NYC apartment, and there is a beautiful window view of lighted high-rise buildings and a harbor or bay. The question is - is this Boston or NYC? Are they living in her previous NYC apartment, or did they find a new place together in nearby Boston? It looked to me more like Boston, but Pacey had just started his restaurant business in Capeside and that is an hour away. Where are they living at the end of the series? It was vague to me.

Answer: It's the same apartment Joey had in NYC. Comparing it to the beginning of the Finale; you can tell it's exactly the same location, furnishings, Plasma TV etc. Apparently Chris was only living with her at HER apartment, and now Pacey has taken his place at the end. I guess this implies Pacey successfully started his own restaurant business in NYC as he had dreamed, to be with Joey.
