Red Dwarf

Polymorph - S3-E3

Corrected entry: In the episode "Polymorph", the 'punchline' at The End of the episode is that the crew of Red Dwarf think they're safe, because they've killed the polymorph creature. But the 'plot twist' is that there was a SECOND polymorph on board Red Dwarf - and the last we see of it is when the Polymorph takes on the appearance of Lister and grins to the camera. But it is never explained what became of this second polymorph. For all we know, it could still be lurking on board.

Correction: According to Doug Naylor in the Re-Mastered edition of this episode, the second Polymorph hid in Lister's underpants drawers and died of starvation due to its stupidity.

Marooned - S3-E2

Corrected entry: Rimmer is seen pressing a button before speaking into a microphone to send out a distress message. But Rimmer is supposed to be a hologram, an intangible being...and as such, can't touch things. HE is not capable of touching things until the Red Dwarf crew meet Legion in Series VI - then Legion upgrades Rimmer with a "Hard-Light" holographic drive, making him a solid being at last.

Correction: However, it's possible for the radio to have holographic controls as well, perhaps reacting to the presence of a light bee, since in an emergency situation, a hologram may be the only one uninjured enough to send a distress signal.

Backwards - S3-E1

Corrected entry: Throughout this episode writing is backwards. Why, in a backwards universe, would writing be backwards? Surely it would be the correct way around, just that the people in this universe would read it backwards.

Correction: It's a fictional universe. The writers can create whatever customs/rules they like.

Phixius

Timeslides - S3-E5

Corrected entry: Want to know why Rimmer is alive at The End of 'Timeslides'? Here's a theory. Rimmer as a child sees himself from the future visit him to offer advice. He later works out that this was himself from the future. Later in the events of 'Stasis Leak', Rimmer is visited again by his future self. Because of his childhood experience, now Rimmer does not panic but takes his future self's advice and goes into Stasis, therefore surviving the radiation leak.

Correction: Sorry, but pet theories are not valid trivia.

Tailkinker

M-Corp - S12-E5

Other mistake: When Cat picks up the can of Leopard lager which is invisible to Lister, he shakes it, pops the cap and sprays Lister with foam. The foam is visible but the can remains invisible, and that makes no sense. If we are seeing the scene from Cat's point of view the can and foam should both be visible, and if it is from Lister's then neither should be.

White Hole - S4-E4

Rimmer: The thing about Captain Oates... The thing you have to remember about Captain Oates... Captain Oates... Captain Oates was a prat.

Meltdown - S4-E6

Trivia: "Meltdown" was originally planned to be the first episode of Series IV of Red Dwarf. However, the militaristic tone of this episode - and in particular Dave Lister's strident anti-war speech near The End of the episode - meant it fell foul of the BBC censors. The original planned transmission date (Feb 14 1991) coincided with the outbreak of "Operation Desert Storm" - the Gulf War...and the BBC felt that an "anti-war" episode of Red Dwarf would be inappropriate for a country at war with Iraq.

More trivia for Red Dwarf

Answer: Presumably he does, but it's never been used in any material related to the show. He is the only Cat left (as shown in Series 1), so even if he had once had a name, nobody would know it.

Moose

Answer: In the book, the Cat finds the concept of a name confusing, as he's convinced he's the center of the universe and the idea that someone wouldn't know who he was is baffling.
