Red Dwarf

Psirens - S6-E1

Corrected entry: Kryten shows Lister a picture of Kochanski and says that he dated her for three weeks, but in the first series it is established that Lister always wanted to ask Kochanski out but never worked up the courage.

Correction: Answered elsewhere - just because he didn't ask her out didn't mean they never dated. Maybe she asked him?

In an early episode, Holly says Kochanski and Lister had only spoken a few hundred words, they hardly could have dated for weeks. It's an acknowledged continuity error; the writers thought it would make more sense for Lister to obsess over a failed relationship than an unrequited crush.

Skipper - S12-E6

Plot hole: Kryten explains that the quantum skipper must be recharged after every use, and the time this takes must be must be taken into account. This is an important plot device the first time Rimmer uses it, but it is conveniently forgotten for the rest of the episode.

Rimmer: The thing about Captain Oates... The thing you have to remember about Captain Oates... Captain Oates... Captain Oates was a prat.

Answer: Presumably he does, but it's never been used in any material related to the show. He is the only Cat left (as shown in Series 1), so even if he had once had a name, nobody would know it.

Answer: In the book, the Cat finds the concept of a name confusing, as he's convinced he's the center of the universe and the idea that someone wouldn't know who he was is baffling.
