Red Dwarf

Correction: A number of posts suggest much the same thing, neglecting the fact that Holly is trying to keep Lister's fragile sanity intact. She arranges for Rimmer to appear to land on the table by projecting a holographic image of him doing just that, as Lister would become unhinged if he saw Rimmer magically passing through solid objects all the time. Besides, according to your logic shouldn't he sink through the floor?

Polymorph - S3-E3

Corrected entry: When Lister is preparing the meal, he puts all the ingredients into the microwave and closes the door. When he opens it again, a plate has magically appeared inside the microwave. (00:04:20)

Dwarf

Correction: Lister also dumps a lot of curry powder into the microwave, and when he reopens the door after baking, there is a full meal prepared. Clearly, this is not a mistake, but in fact part of the futuristic technology used to create the meal. The plate was likely generated along with the rest of the meal.

Casual Person

Correction: The simulants equip Starbug with laser cannons in series VI's Gunmen of the Apocalypse.

Chimera

Correction: There ARE after effects: JFK disappears.

Correction: You've obviously never been to an English public school.

Correction: It has been established that whenever a picture is being used as a form of time travel, real time will always pass within in the photo. For example, the crew use a photo from when Lister was in Smeg and the Heads, which would have been a single photo taken whilst the band is performing, but time passes when the photo is being displayed as shown by the band performing before they go inside the photo. The likely answer to this is that Rimmer acquired a photo of his bed from boarding school that was probably taken during the day and then waited several hours until night time to inside the photo.

Casual Person

Only The Good... - S8-E8

Corrected entry: In an attempt to stop Ackerman from finding Baxter's hooch when the cell is being inspected, Rimmer and Lister decide to drink the remaining bottles of hooch. Even if they thought they could drink the hooch bottles before Ackerman arrived to inspect, they still would have the empty bottles inside the cell with them, so drinking the hooch would have been completely ineffective in the long run. (00:13:05)

Casual Person

Correction: An empty bottle isn't contraband, only its contents. They could have refilled them with water, minimising any scent of the hooch.

Correction: This is because they are not in the hologram simulation suite at this point, they are in the control room. When the explosion occurs, and when Holly realises it was the yellow cable Lister was meant to use, they are in the hologram simulation suite. The scene then cuts to them in the control room afterwards, and Holly is standing in his current position because he has just entered through the door to the control room.

Casual Person

Correction: The run-in with the future selves and being killed by them at The End of season 6 caused reality to destabilize and changes to the ship. (At one point, one of the cargo decks is said to have increased capacity 44%.) Making it big enough to land Ace's dimension ship inside could be one of those changes.

Captain Defenestrator

Me2 - S1-E6

Corrected entry: In the cinema scene, one Rimmer makes hand shadows to annoy the other. This is impossible, as Rimmer is made of light and, therefore, wouldn't cast a shadow.

Correction: Rimmer isn't transparent, ergo, light does not pass through him. If light doesn't pass through him, he'll cast a shadow.

Tailkinker

Correction: Blue Midget clearly makes contact with the Cat, it was more of a glancing blow, as the leg moves quickly past his face.

Dwarf

Correction: It's a different dimension that just happens to be 3,000,000 years into the point of departure's future.

Phixius

Correction: This is the cat. His heartbeat is literally a music beat. He spent over a day creating a special spacesuit when he thought he was going to meet women. Having perfect hair, no matter the situation, is entirely within character.

Gary O'Reilly

Correction: Yes, that's right, but the flashback in which he states this fact takes place in Kochanski's universe, in which he may have got the cat on Mimas instead of Titan.

Correction: The green-blue liquid is the luck virus and the red is the sexual magnetism virus.

Better Than Life - S2-E2

Corrected entry: When Rimmer arrives with his girlfriend and his seven kids, watch the sky. Whenever the camera is on Rimmer and the car, its a bright blue sky. Yet when the camera is focused on Lister and the Cat, the sky is darker and more cloudy.

Correction: This is not a mistake, it was done that way intentionally. It's designed to show the basic difference in the game make-up for each character. When looking at Rimmer it is from Listers point of view, which throughout the game is basically fun and sunny, and therefore sunny, when looking at Lister it is from Rimmer's viewpoint, which as you see from the episode is pretty horrible in general, and therefore cloudy.

The End - S1-E1

Corrected entry: The whole business about putting people into stasus as a punishment makes no sense at all. What is punishing about being put in a status cubicle and then (in your perception) immediately stepping out when time is several months/years further on (but yourself no older)? Even if you weren't earning your salary during the statis period, you had no expenses either.

Moose

Correction: It's a no-fuss way of keeping troublemakers out of the way. You don't have to feed them, you don't have to guard them, they can't injure themselves, they can't shout and make noise. It may be less of a punishment, but it's a lot less hassle for the crew.

J I Cohen

Correction: Plus they can't exactly fire Lister when they're off in deep space. They have to wait until they're back to earth.

Brian Katcher

Only The Good... - S8-E8

Corrected entry: When Rimmer and Lister discover Kryten has planted Baxter's hooch in their cell, the only solutions that they can come up with is emptying the bottles into the sink and toilet, before deciding to drink it. In S8 E6 Pete (Part 1), it is shown that their cell had a ceiling duct used to allow Bob the Skutter to give Lister his meal. They could have easily planted the hooch in the duct, but that isn't even considered. It is unlikely they would have forgotten about the duct given the limited amount of places in the cell that they could hide it. (00:12:40)

Casual Person

Correction: A search of their cell would likely also include a search of an easily accessible ventilation duct for contraband goods.

Correction: Lister was 'scuffling' with Hitler and when he comes back through the slide, he says 'I stole his briefcase' The briefcase was Hitler's, not von Stauffenberg's. Therefore there is nothing odd about Hitler's diary being in Hitler's briefcase. Incidentally, Rimmer comments he is the officer that attempt's to assassinate Hitler by putting a bomb in his (Hitler's) briefcase.

Queeg - S2-E5

Corrected entry: When the meteor hits the ship, everyone is thrown about except for the skutter, who does not move at all. (00:04:10)

Dwarf

Correction: Skutters perform operations outside the ship as well. They probably have magnetized wheels or some sort of stabilizers to keep them from being knocked into space.

Captain Defenestrator

Stasis Leak - S2-E4

Corrected entry: Just after Lister first enters the Stasis Leak and ends up in the shower, there is a shot of a man standing in front of the sinks. Above his head is a digital notice board. The date written on it is Wednesday 2nd March 2077. But 02/07/2077 will be a Tuesday.

Madgefilmsinc2

Correction: The calendar has been altered since the present day, as evidenced by the newscaster in "Better Than Life" giving the date as "the 27th of Geldof".

Tailkinker

M-Corp - S12-E5

Other mistake: When Cat picks up the can of Leopard lager which is invisible to Lister, he shakes it, pops the cap and sprays Lister with foam. The foam is visible but the can remains invisible, and that makes no sense. If we are seeing the scene from Cat's point of view the can and foam should both be visible, and if it is from Lister's then neither should be.

Rimmer: The thing about Captain Oates... The thing you have to remember about Captain Oates... Captain Oates... Captain Oates was a prat.

Meltdown - S4-E6

Trivia: "Meltdown" was originally planned to be the first episode of Series IV of Red Dwarf. However, the militaristic tone of this episode - and in particular Dave Lister's strident anti-war speech near The End of the episode - meant it fell foul of the BBC censors. The original planned transmission date (Feb 14 1991) coincided with the outbreak of "Operation Desert Storm" - the Gulf War...and the BBC felt that an "anti-war" episode of Red Dwarf would be inappropriate for a country at war with Iraq.
