Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Bewitched, Bothered And Bewildered - S2-E16

Corrected entry: Amy refers to Diana as goddess of love. The correct goddess of love would be either Aphrodite for the Greeks or Venus for the Romans. Diana was goddess of the hunt, virginity, and childbirth.

Correction: Amy says that for a love spell to work requires pure intent. The spell she casts causes Obsession rather than Love, therefore a goddess of The Hunt would be more appropriate than the goddess of Love. (She's also only been a witch for less than a year, so she's bound to make mistakes).

Captain Defenestrator

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: In "Becoming Part 2" Spike cuts off Drusilla's air to render her unconscious, so that he can take her with him when he flees. But it's been established throughout the show that vampires don't need to breathe, so his choke hold should not have had any result.

Correction: There are two kinds of chokes Spike could have used: the air choke and the blood choke. The air choke is obviously a way of suffocation and knock out, as well as murder. The other is the blood choke. This compresses the carotid arteries on the sides of Dru's neck, leading to her passing out due to lack of blood supply to the brain. As it has been occasionally mentioned that vamps don't breathe, and the two chokes are almost identical in appearance, Spike certainly seems to have used the blood choke.

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: The vampire Angel fights in Buffy's house was never invited in.

Issabee

Correction: The vampire who came rushing in for Angel to fight was one of the spell-affected humans. Only appearances and behaviors changed the humans. None of the supernatural "rules" apply so that person with more or less a glamour prohibiting their own control wouldn't need an invite.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: During the final showdown Spike incapacitates Drusilla by choking her into unconsciousness. However, throughout Buffyverse material, especially on several occasions in Angel, it is pointed out specifically that this is impossible as vampires do not draw breath.

Lord Mordo

Correction: It has been explained by Joss and James Marsters that Spike did not choke Drusilla, he broke her neck.

Some Assembly Required - S2-E2

Corrected entry: The vampires are digging the master up and one digs w/ his hands and they begin to smoke and he says "the ground, it's consecrated, it burns." But you never see any vampires in the cemetery burning when they dig themselves out of their graves.

wolfman1378

Correction: The Master's grave was consecrated with special rituals that Giles, Willow, and Xander performed which are more powerful than the consecration done with ordinary funeral rites. Vampires that emerge from the grave also do it quickly and explosively enough that the consecrated dirt likely never comes in contact with them.

Captain Defenestrator

Ted - S2-E11

Corrected entry: In this episode Ted suggests that the group go mini-golfing and everyone is fine with the idea and they do go. However, in the fade-out of the first episode of this season Xander suggests the same idea as a way to spend the afternoon and Willow states that there is no course in Sunny dale.

Lord Mordo

Correction: So, either a course has been built in the interim, or they go outside of the town to play.

pinkwafer

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: In "Halloween," when Willow is walking by Oz's car, when they show Oz, the steering wheel is on the left side of the car. They aren't in England.

PurpleSharpie98795

Correction: You dont have to be in England to have a car with the steering wheel on the other side of the car. I've seen several left sided cars in the States.

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: After Buffy smashes Larry into the vending machine, a Diet Dr Pepper comes out. However you can see in earlier shots that there is no button for Diet Dr Pepper.

Correction: All it takes is for the person stocking the machine to place the wrong drink in the machine for this to happen. I've worked at one place where you never got what you ordered from the machine because the supplier kept stocking it wrong. In fact, in Graduation Day Part 1, Willow says: "Oh trusty soda machine, I push you for Root Beer, you give me Coke."

When She Was Bad - S2-E1

Corrected entry: When Angel and Xander are pulling in the people hanging upside down, there is a shot of Willow and she blinks even though she is supposed to be unconscious.

Correction: Being unconscious does not prevent blinking, it actually requires effort not to blink.

Inca Mummy Girl - S2-E4

Corrected entry: When Xander and Ampata are attacked by the bodyguard on the bleachers, Xander's bag is knocked over and rolls down about 4 rows. Seconds later, when they stand up to run away, the bag is right beside his feet again.

xx:xx:xx

Correction: When they are attacked the bag rolls down a few rows but then the bodyguard knocks Xander a few rows down so he would be equal with the bag when he gets up.

Reptile Boy - S2-E5

Corrected entry: The frat house is a place of residence. Angel should not be able to enter without an invitation.

Correction: The frat boys wouldn't own the frat house which seems to be a factor in deciding if a vampire can enter a residence. Sunday & her vampire followers could get into Buffys room when she was at the university without an invite.

Some Assembly Required - S2-E2

Corrected entry: Even if Darryl Epps was too ashamed to show his face in public after being resurrected, surely he and Chris would tell their mother to stop her grieving for her son?

xx:xx:xx

Shay

Correction: (Tell her what? your son is a zombie? He's not dead anymore but he's supposed to be... that'd go over well).

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: When the gang are in Buffy's house and she sees the picture of herself standing alone, instead of saying the line "I would never wear that low apparel" she fluffs her line and said "I would never wear this that low apparel" The shot changes between the words "this" and "that" so it looks like they tried to cut out the mistake in words but didn't succeed.

xx:xx:xx

troy fox

Correction: The line, written with pauses, goes "I would never wear this. That low apparel...", at which point Buffy trails off in disbelief. It isn't a fluffed line, it is an attempt to convey confusion delivered a little too fast.

Shay

Go Fish - S2-E20

Corrected entry: In this episode, Buffy is protecting Gage, one of the swimmers she believes is targeted by the monster. At school she watches him from a chair, acting like she is reading a magazine. The first time we see this, her magazine is upside down, but in the next shot, it is a different magazine and is also right-side up.

xx:xx:xx

Correction: It is suppose to be upside down. When she turns back to the magazine, her face crunches up in confusion when she realizes it's upside down- that's why Gage laughs at her and shakes his head when he notices she's watching because it's upside down. So she grabs another one.

What's My Line? (1) - S2-E9

Corrected entry: In the episode 'What's My Line Part 1' Spike says the ritual to restore Drusilla's health must be done on the night of a full moon, but in 'What's My Line Part 2' Giles says the ritual will take place on the night of a new moon.

Correction: Spike never describes the ritual in "What's My Line Part 1," except to say that Angel is the "missing link."

Phoenix

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: Why would Willow choose the school of all places to do the spell to restore Angel's soul in 'Becoming'? Wouldn't it have made more sense to do it in someone's house, seeing as how the vampires were free to enter the school and attack but would have been kept out of their houses.

Shay

Correction: They were already at the school and didn't know of the vampire raid so there's no reason they should have realised to do it somewhere else.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: How did Buffy know in 'Becoming, Part 2' that it was Drusilla who killed Kendra? Everyone in the library but Kendra was unconcious by the time she entered.

xx:xx:xx

Shay

Correction: Angelus was fighting Buffy & as far as everyone knew Spike was in a wheelchair, So Buffy is assuming that Angelus would send the strongest vampire he had to make sure the fight went his way.

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: In Becoming Pt 2, Willow is in a coma due to head trauma, and hospitalized. I'm not a doctor, but wouldn't a coma patient in a hospital be hooked up to some machines, at least an IV? When she is shown in the hospital bed, she isn't hooked up to anything at all.

xx:xx:xx

Correction: It is possible to be in a coma without needing to be on life suport. She is obviously not in an ICU, so she probably doesn't need any machines to keep her alive.

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: In the season 5 episode 'Fool For Love' Drusilla and Spike mention how amazing a Slayer's blood is - far better than any other kind (a point repeated by many other vampires during the course of the show), so why in 'Becoming Part 1' did Drusilla not drain Kendra after she slit her throat? As far as she knew she was in no hurry, so why did she pass up on the best blood in the world?

Shay

Correction: In talking about Jenny's death earlier in the season, Joss Whedon said that Angel broke her neck as a way of saying she wasn't good enough to eat. Since Drusilla had no trouble fighting Kendra, Drusilla might have felt that there wasn't enough glory in the kill, and there'd be no point in feeding off a slayer that didn't put up much of a fight.

Reptile Boy - S2-E5

Corrected entry: Why did the frat boys bother kidnapping a girl at least a week before the ceremony? They apparently don't care if the sacrifices are connected to each other and had no trouble attracting women to their frat house.

Phoenix

Correction: They only choose certain girls for Machida - although their criteria are never explicitly stated, the fact that Tom is desperate for Buffy to go suggests that they pick their victims carefully rather than just dragging in some random girl at the party. If they specifically wanted Callie for the sacrifice it would make sense to grab her the first chance they got, even if that meant holding her captive for a week.

Shay

Surprise (1) - S2-E13

Corrected entry: At the end of the episode 'Surprise' Angel runs out into the street where it's raining heavily, but in the same street a few minutes later, at the start of the episode 'Innocence', the ground and Angel are both completely dry.

xx:xx:xx

Correction: Not until Angel morphs to vamp face, and even then, its only him that is dry, the streets are still wet.

MAC

School Hard - S2-E3

Corrected entry: In the scene where Spike is introduced, one vampire boasts, "When I kill the slayer, it will be the greatest event since the crucifixion." But slayers die every 5-10 years, and have for millenia. What makes killing Buffy special enough to warrant this?

Phoenix

Correction: Since Buffy has been called to Sunnydale because there is a Hellmouth there, killing her will give the vamps and demons the chance to open the Hellmouth, and we all know what happens after that.

troy fox

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: In 'Becoming' when Buffy leaves to meet Angelus in the graveyard she takes Kendra's stake, Mr. Pointy, with her. Later on that night when she slays a vampire outside her house she uses a totally different stake.

Shay

Correction: Buffy probably keeps more than one stake on her anyway, and Mr. Pointy wasn't part of her normal armaments. Plus, she might be attaching sentimental importance to dead Kendra's stake.

Phoenix

Becoming (1) - S2-E21

Corrected entry: Willow had a head trauma, and a big bandage on the front of her head. Problem with that is when the bookcase fell on her it never hit her head, far from it in fact. If she did injure her head the injury would be on the back of her head, from where she hit the floor.

Correction: Willow fell facedown on the floor, with the bookcase landing on top of her. So the bandage on her head is from landing on the ground, not the actual bookcase.

Phoenix

I Only Have Eyes For You - S2-E19

Corrected entry: How does Giles know that Jenny was murdered in the school? He found the body in his apartment, so as far as he knew she could have been killed anywhere.

Shay

Correction: But the computer lab at school where Jenny had been working had been smashed to bits and set on fire, so the logical solution was that there had been a fight there. And it was pretty evident who won the fight.

Halloween - S2-E6

Corrected entry: In the season two episode 'Halloween' only the people who got their costumes from Ethan's store are meant to change into what they are dressed as when the spell is cast. However, Xander changes, despite having told the girls in an earlier scene that he got his fatigues from an army surplus store - not from Ethan's

Correction: He bought the toy gun at Ethan's and it had the curse.

Passion - S2-E17

Corrected entry: When Angelus Kills Jenny Calander, he arranges her in Giles' house. Having re-watched series one and two a few times I've still not been able to find the episode where Giles invites Angel into his house.

Kara

Correction: That doesn't mean it didn't happen. There is no evidence to suggest that he never invited him in. Episodes rarely start exactly where the last left off, so there was ample time in between episodes for this to occur.

Season 2 generally

Corrected entry: In the episode 'Passion' Angelus destroys Jenny's computer before he kills her, hoping to get rid of the hard drive with his cure on it. Two episodes later in 'I Only Have Eyes For You' Willow tells Giles she found lesson plans on Jenny's hard drive. If the hard drive was destroyed with the computer she wouldn't have been able to retrieve lesson plans, but if it somehow survived the damage Willow would have found the curse when she looked through the files. Either way it's a mistake.

Shay

Correction: Having dealt with far too many fried hard drives in my day, I can tell you that it's entirely possible the sector of the hard drive that contained the spell was damaged beyond recovery, but the sector with Ms Calendar's lesson plan was not. Just because you can find one thing doesn't mean you can find everything.

School Hard - S2-E3

Corrected entry: In School Hard, season 2, Spike says that Angel was his sire. However, in a later series with flashbacks to the 19th centuary, they show Drusilla turning Spike into a vamp.

Correction: Joss Whedon himself said; 'I believe it was in 1850 that Angel made Drusilla and then Drusilla made Spike. Now, this is where it gets confusing for everybody, your sire can mean anybody in the line that made you. So, Drusilla is Spike's sire, but so is Angel in the sense that Angel made Drusilla and Drusilla made Spike. If we were being more literal we would call him a grandsire, but that term does not exist in the vampire world, so sire just means somebody that you are connected to because they came before you on the line. By that reckoning you could say that Darla is Spike's sire since she made Angel.'

Becoming (2) - S2-E22

Corrected entry: In the episode 'Becoming, Part 2' Spike uses a choke hold to subdue Drusilla. What good is a choke hold on a vampire who doesn't breath or have a blood flow to the brain that could be cut off?

Shay

Correction: From the buffyguide.com FAQ; 'Vampires do not need to breathe air in order to stay alive. However, like food, vampires do breathe and can do things that require breathing, like talking or smoking. If a vampire is deprived of air for enough time, they will pass out from 'suffocation', but there has never been an incidence of a vampire dying from lack of air. Also, when a vampire breathes in air, *something* happens to it that makes it unusable for CPR, which is why Angel could not save Buffy in Prophecy Girl.

Quotes

Spike: You listen to me. [Kneels in front of her.] I've been alive a bit longer than you, and dead a lot longer than that. I've seen things you couldn't imagine, and done things I prefer you didn't. I don't exactly have a reputation for being a thinker. I follow my blood, which doesn't exactly rush in the direction of my brain. So I make a lot of mistakes, a lot of wrong bloody calls. A hundred plus years, and there's only one thing I've ever been sure of: you. [Buffy looks away; he reaches toward her face.] Hey, look at me. I'm not asking you for anything. When I say, "I love you, " it's not because I want you or because I can't have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I've seen your kindness and your strength. I've seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You're a hell of a woman. You're the one, Buffy.
Buffy: [Quietly.] I don't wanna be the one.

Mistakes

Willow is turned into a ghost. Throughout the entire episode, she can't touch anything (can't turn the pages of a book, etc.), yet towards the end when she and Giles go to Ethan's shop, and she leaves, you can hear that she opened and closed the door, even though she can walk through walls and can't actually touch the door. The curtain moves when she leaves too.

Trivia

In addition to singing "Rest in Peace," James Marsters also played the song's guitar track.
