Octopussy (1983)

Factual error: In the balloon scene, it seems like Q can circle around and land on a spot where he flew past previously. A balloon can only fly in the direction of the wind.

Octopussy (1983)

Continuity mistake: Gobinda kills the two helpers at the Monsoon Palace and throws them on the floor in the freezer and we hear the thumps. Minutes later Bond hides in the freezer. The bodies now hang on meat hooks, and have already turned gray.

Octopussy (1983)

Other mistake: When Bond drives into the train tunnel, below the train cart with the jewelry, we see that welding is going on in the other train cart. But that is before the bomb is placed in the hole below the cannon. There is no sign of weldings, and no sign of welding equipment once we get inside that cart.

Octopussy (1983)

Continuity mistake: When we see the Monsoon Palace from the lake, it is set very high on a barren brown mountain. When Bond escapes on foot, he very quickly is in a dense and moist jungle - and walking out in a low-lying marsh land with a wide river. That can't be the same lake, since we don't see him running down a steep barren cliff-side.

Octopussy (1983)

Continuity mistake: During the fight on the roof of the train, the scenery in the background changes dramatically between shots. Especially when the surviving knife artist climbs up on the roof. There we are in a dense forest, and when we cut to Bond, we are on an open field.

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: When the commandos start placing the demolition charges, the roll of wire is a very bright white, but next morning the wire is black.

Octopussy (1983)

Other mistake: When Bond kicks the curry onto the hot coals, the flames flare up very high over the length of the coals, and not just where the curry hits.

Factual error: At 300 meters, we see the hull starting to cave in - from the outside. But the outside hull is only a cover. The preasure hull is below that. There is water behind the outer hull, so it would never cave in that way. We actually see the double hull in a shot where we pass from the inside of the boat through the double hulls and out into the sea.

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: When the boat has surfaced in the ice, Polenin goes to his cabin. Inside we see a stack of books lying neatly on a top shelf. However, after all the bumps seen during the earlier fast ascent, where things and people were thrown around, the books would be scattered over the floor.

Guns of Navarone (1961)

Audio problem: Right before the escape from the fortress, Miller throws his gun from the cliff into the water with the 'splash' sound following rather quickly afterwards. When they climb down the rope and jump in, it takes a lot longer for them to splash into the water.

Armageddon (1998)

Character mistake: In the President's speech he says that 'The Bible calls this day Armageddon'. That is not correct. In John's Revelation 16 verse 16 it says 'And he gathered them on the place which in Hebrew is called Harmageddon'. Even aside from spelling variations, Armageddon is a place, not a point in time.

Jacob La Cour

Audio problem: When Colombo pulls out Bond's gun it makes a noise like the top is pulled back. But he takes it out with one hand, and the hammer has not been pulled back. Even if he pulled back the hammer with a finger (which he doesn't) it wouldn't make that sound.

Jacob La Cour

Continuity mistake: In the final scene the parrot takes Bonds watch and drops it, and it falls into the water. That would require that the parrot sat on the ship's railing.

Armageddon (1998)

Question: When the asteroid starts breaking up, collisions of rocks make large fiery explosions. What is exploding when rock meets rock - and where does the oxygen for the explosions come from?

Jacob La Cour

Chosen answer: There could be various combustible gases, including oxygen trapped in pockets within the asteroid. When rock meets rock a spark is created that ignites the suddenly released gases.

Armageddon (1998)

Audio problem: During the sling shot around the moon we hear a sound in more or less every shot of jet engines being revved up. They couldn't rev the engines up several times - it's not like such engines have gears.

Armageddon (1998)

Chosen answer: For the exact purpose you see them used for: terrain clearing.

Armageddon (1998)

Question: Why would NASA spend weight and expenses on making the cabin of the armadillo pressurised?

Jacob La Cour

Chosen answer: The cabin of the armadillo was always going to be pressurized. A person really can't perform the work needed in a space suit. Therefore, they presurize the cabin.

Other mistake: In the paper file regarding Project Blackbriar Jason Bourne's bloodtype is noted as A+, but on David Webb's dogtags it's O-. Since David Webb is his real identity, O- must be his real blood type. If Bourne was injured and known to have blood type A+ (as it is stated in the docs), the person treating him would believe he was capable of receiving A+, A-, O+ and O-. However, since his real blood type is O-, he is compatible with type O- exclusively. So this would mean a 75% chance of receiving the wrong blood type in an emergency.

Suggested correction: This is not a movie mistake. Documents made for a new identity would have details changed to mislead. Moreover, if he is wounded in the field and needs a transfusion, no-one is going to be searching for blood type on files, they'd use plasma, O - or do a test on the spot.

Armageddon (1998)

Continuity mistake: The first shuttle takes off some time before the second. Nevertheless we see a picture of both shuttles in the air shortly after they clear the towers.

Some Like It Hot (1959)

Revealing mistake: When Joe and Gerald escape down the balconies you can see that the view of the ocean is painted, specifically the waves don't move.
