Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

Factual error: While flying out, Maverick strikes an object, tearing off his front landing gear. This would have led to a loss of hydraulic fluid, making it impossible to raise or lower his main mounts. It would probably lead to a complete loss of hydraulic fluid to all control surfaces, making it impossible to fly the plane.

Suggested correction: The F-14 has two separate hydraulic systems: the flight hydraulic system and the combined hydraulic system. Only the combined system is connected to the landing gear. Maverick would be unable to raise his main gear, but all control surfaces would remain operational. In addition to that, the landing gear can be isolated from the combined system, so it would be possible for both systems to remain operational.

Trials and Tribble-ations - S5-E6

Corrected entry: During the roll call for the fight on the space station, some of the officer's shirts are different colors than the shirts used when they filmed the roll call in the original series.

Correction: This entry should be removed since there is no mistake in the context of the episode itself but only in context to the episode of the Original Series. Neither O'Brian nor Bashir were in the original lineup and those two are the only ones whose shirt color changes.

Children of Time - S5-E22

Corrected entry: Odo would have already been infected by the virus by this point. He passes the infection to The Great Link in episode 4-26. It's highly unlikely they would have found a cure on this planet with little medical supplies and the elder Odo never mentions it. Odo should not have survived to see the crew of the Defiant return.

Correction: At the end of Episode 4-26 Odo is turned, according to Doctor Bashir, into human and does not have any contact with an Changeling from the Great Link until the Dominion captures DS9 at the end of Season 5. Since no one was ever worried that the Changeling Virus was any danger to humanoids it's quite probable that Odo was "healed" by his people's punishment and did not carry the Virus during any Episode in Season 5, including this one.

Correction: The virus is accelerated by shape-shifting. The Founders were affected quicker than Odo, even though he was infected first, because they change their form more often. If Odo did not change much during the 200 years, he would have remained unaffected.

The Avengers (2012)

Corrected entry: Right after the second engine goes down on the shield Helicarrier, the altitude reading on Iron Man's HUD shows just over 15,000 feet for the altitude. A short time later, even though the helicarrier has been falling since the engine went down, the altitude on the helicarrier's bridge shows the helicarrier falling through 18,000 feet.

Correction: 2 independent systems showing different values for altitude is not a continuity mistake, it merely shows that the systems are not calibrated for the same ground level or, more likely, that both systems don't operate under the same physical conditions. E.g. Helicarrier in "normal" air vs Iron Man inside an engine that produces heat and pressure changes while moving, thereby falsifying his readings.

Suggesting Iron Man's suit is giving falsified readings because of pressure and heat is ridiculous. Iron Man's suit is controlled by an advanced AI, you really think it wouldn't notice strange readings?

lionhead

Just because you notice a strange reading does not mean that you can correct it on the fly. Or, as suggested, Iron Man has simply calibrated his altimeter for a wrong/virtual ground level as a signal for him to get out of there in case his plan fails. The main point of my suggested correction is that the Helicarrier and the suit are two independent systems that do not necessarily need to show the same values and the views of Suit's HUD in them self are consistent insofar as that the altitude drops from 15000+ to 13000+.

HTH

You're right. 2 independent altitude meters can give separate altitudes. The correction is solid.

The Mummy Returns (2001)

Corrected entry: If the horsemen introduced are the leaders of the twelve tribes, why are there only nine of them? (00:58:20)

Correction: I just watched this scene and count 12 leaders, including Ardeth Bey, throughout the scene. The only time when there are only 9 visible is when they are leaving and at that point the dust that the horses kicked up and the terrain are making it impossible to get an accurate count.

HTH

Correction: Just because there are twelve tribes doesn't mean there has to be twelve leaders. They might be like a "board of executives" that governs all tribes. Seeing as they are a fictional creation in the movie, you cannot apply any existing tribes for comparison.

Down Periscope (1996)

Corrected entry: When the stingray is trying to evade the Orlando by going between the rudders of an oil tanker, after Lt. Lake takes the control ("Balls to the walls, boys"), there are two different sets of actors at the rudders and the camera goes back and forth between the two sets of actors.

Correction: I just watched this scene again and I've seen a total of 3 actors in front of big "steering wheels" which coincides nicely with the submarines 3 control surfaces (forward diving planes, rear diving planes and rudders). One of the actors is seen only once where he directly responds to a rudder order and the other 2 are the actors playing Jackson and Spots at the boat's diving controls.
