The Mummy Returns (2001)

Question: After Alex translates the hieroglyphs as "This way to Scorpion King," Jonathan quietly responds by saying "It's just my work." What exactly did he mean by that? He's not a translator of ancient Egyptian like his sister Evie, so I don't think he literally meant "work" as his profession.

Phaneron

Chosen answer: He says, "this just might work" meaning he and Alex trying to bring Evie back using the book of the dead.

Risky Business - S1-E16

[Cory and Shawn are listening to the radio for the results of a horse race.]
Radio Announcer: And now the results of the fifth race at Pimlico.
Cory: Come on Neckflap, baby!
Radio Announcer: And the winner is Ne... [Cory accidentally unplugs the radio before he hears the result.]
Cory: Nuh!? What kind of name is Nuh!?
Shawn: You idiot, you ripped the plug out of the wall!
Cory: Well he said "Nuh." It's gotta be Neckflap. What other horse starts with "Nuh"?
Shawn: [reading the names of the horses from the newspaper.] Okay, we got uh, Neckflap, Nux Vomica, uh, Nunzio's Dream, and remarkably a horse called Nuh.

Dick and Taxes - S4-E12

[The Solomons are doing their taxes for the first time.]
Dick: Alright, Form 10-40. First name: Dick. Last name: Solomon. And Mary said this would be complicated.
Sally: Dick this is so boring. Why are we doin' it?
Dick: Because Sally, this is what humans do. It's like their national pastime. And you don't want us to stand out.
Harry: Hey, you know what'd be funny? Where it says "Sex," write "frequently."
Sally: That's a good one Harry.
Dick: They don't ask for your sex here.
Harry: Hmm. Well if there's any place that you can indicate that you like to have frequent sex, I think it's worth doing.
Sally: Farm income or loss. So did our farm show a profit last year?
Dick: No, we're Schedule F.
Tommy: Wait wait, we didn't have a farm last year.
Harry: We lost the farm? No!
Dick: Line 14, other gains or losses.
Tommy: I gained two lbs.
Sally: I lost my virginity.
Harry: Hey, there's your opportunity for that frequent sex thing if you wanna just throw it in.
Dick: Enter itemized deductions from Page 3, Schedule C, Line 2 to the extent they are allowable on Schedule A Form 10-40 NR.
Sally: Enter the larger of your itemized deductions from Line 28 or standard deduction shown on the left. My left or its left?
Tommy: See Page 30 to find your standard deduction if you've checked any box on Line 35-A or 35-B or if someone can claim you as a dependent.
[The entire family is shown to be very confused and the scene transitions to a short time later.]
Harry: I'm telling you, there is no Schedule B.
Tommy: There has to be, dammit!
Dick: I don't understand this, I'm a superior being. I can calculate the decaying orbit of a dying moon to within a tenth of an inch. Why can't I calculate the subtotal of Line 59-A? Why can't I find Line 59-A? Where the hell is Line 59-A!?
Sally: Calm down.
Dick: [begins tearing up his tax forms.] I can't take this anymore! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! I hate it! [Suddenly finds Line 59-A.] Oh here it is. Everybody just settle down.

Fantastic Four (2015)

Stupidity: When Victor is rediscovered on Planet Zero, the scientists bring him straight back to Earth. They had absolutely no way of knowing what he was exposed to on that planet for the Earth-long year he was there. He could have been a major quarantine risk for all they knew.

Fantastic Four (2015)

Stupidity: When they first arrive on Planet Zero, Victor runs his hand through the mysterious green liquid on the planet surface. No scientist in their right mind would ever willingly attempt to touch a body part to an unknown substance. He had no way of knowing if the substance was toxic, corrosive, incendiary, hypothermic, etc. Moreover, none of his companions try to warn him against doing so.

Stupidity: When the Keymaker is closing the door to the room that leads to the Source, he stands in the doorway resulting in the multiple Agent Smiths gunning him down. He could have easily closed the door without standing in the doorway and consequently would have lived.

Suggested correction: Who says the door was bullet proof and the Keymaker couldn't have been shot through the door?

Having just viewed the scene on YouTube to verify, the door is definitely bulletproof, as the bullets only produce dents in the door and there are no visible holes from the other side of the door when it is closed.

Phaneron

The point of the stupidity is that he shouldn't have been in the doorway at all, even if the door wasn't bulletproof, there was no need for him to even stand behind the closed door. He could have pushed the door closed from the side.

Bishop73

It seems to be a heavy door, he simply couldn't close it with just his arm, thus he had to move his body forwards in order to close it. In that brief moment he got shot before the door closed. He could have for example kicked the door shut but he simply didn't think of that at that moment, also not knowing the Smiths were about to fire a volley of bullets at them.

God's Not Dead (2014)

Stupidity: Ayisha doesn't want her Muslim father to know that she has converted to Christianity, but she daftly listens to bible verses on her iPod with her eyes closed and the screen facing up with the screen-light on, which ultimately leads to her getting caught.

God's Not Dead (2014)

Factual error: Even before his first class is shown, Professor Radisson is given the reputation of being an aggressive anti-theist, with one character even comparing him to the Roman Coliseum. This would imply that he makes students write "God is dead" at the beginning of every semester. This is a form of religious discrimination that would not be tolerated at any public university, especially in a country that is predominantly Christian, and Radisson surely would have been fired for it. It's even said during the concert at the end of the film that Radisson's actions have made the news, but the administration at the university apparently isn't privy to it.

God's Not Dead (2014)

Factual error: During his final debate with Professor Radisson, Josh states that science supports the existence of God. There is no scientific evidence to support the existence of any god from any religion. This line is made all the more dubious given that the film earlier made reference to the works and writings of Richard Dawkins and Stephen Hawking - who are two of the most respected scientists on the planet and neither of whom are theists - as counterpoints to his decidedly unscientific claims in earlier debates.

X-Men mistake picture

Beauty and the Beast - S2-E10

Continuity mistake: When Graydon Creed is interrogating Carly, their positions in the room are different depending on the shot. When first shown, she is tied to a chair, with a bare wall a few feet to her left. When Wolverine enters the room, he enters through a door that is now on the wall on Carly's left that was previously bare. When Wolverine tells Creed to let her go, they are suddenly right next to a wall on Carly's right. Then when Creed is pointing the gun at Wolverine and for the remainder of the scene, Carly is suddenly facing the door Wolverine came through. (00:15:35 - 00:17:50)

Beauty and the Beast - S2-E10

Plot hole: After Beast and Dr. Bohlson leave Carly's room, they briefly chat in the hallway just outside the door for less than 15 seconds in real time, and then discover that in that brief time frame, the Friends of Humanity abducted Carly from her second-story room via the window, managed to incapacitate the nurse, security guard and Carly's father, toss around furniture and spray paint "For Humanity" on one of the walls, all without any of the victims making a sound or the Friends of Humanity making a sound themselves. The Friends of Humanity aren't ninjas, rather they are shown to be somewhat bumbling, so there's no way they could have done all that as quickly and quietly as shown. (00:12:30)
