Other mistake: If the meteor shower that hits NYC is the same one that destroyed the shuttle, how was so much time able to pass that all the newspapers were able to report on the shuttle before NYC got hit?

jbrbbt

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Good question. Nobody says that it's the "same" shower though. All of them come from the bigger rock, and they are coming in intervals. So it could very well be some time had passed between showers. Also, the meteorites that hit the shuttle were much smaller and probably burned up in the atmosphere before bigger ones followed.

Question: It's stated by Vader in the previous film how much he wanted to capture Luke for the Emperor by using the carbonite freezer. Boba Fett knew this. So why didn't Boba Fett take Luke into his custody to take him back to Vader instead of letting Jabba kill him with the sarlac pit?

jbrbbt

Answer: Boba did attempt to grapple Luke with his whipcord.

kayelbe

Answer: Luke was a Jedi Master. He knew taking him wouldn't easy. Bobo Fett went after thugs, aliens he knew would be easy to catch. Besides, the bounty he received would have made him wealthy, plus he stayed with Jabba, which means he was on his payroll.

Answer: Doing this would require Boba Fett to either convince Jabba to give Luke to him (not likely) or he'd have to steal Luke from him and ruin their business relationship. Also Boba Fett and Darth Vader never appeared particularly chummy with each other and Fett has personally witnessed Vader totally screw Lando over in their own deal, so from multiple angles any operation to take Luke in for himself and claim a reward from the Empire is likely more trouble than it's worth.

TonyPH

Question: Luke gets everyone together at Jabba's palace in order to rescue Han Solo. Why didn't Luke just get a bunch of Rebel fighters to storm the palace? They had the fleet available, so they could have easily overpowered Jabba and his guards without having to resort to risking all of his friends in an overly complicated rescue attempt, and they wouldn't have had to bother with the whole sarlac pit fight at all.

jbrbbt

Answer: The fleet was getting ready for the final battle to destroy the new Death Star. Rescuing Han was a personal rescue mission for Luke and Leia. As far as the fleet was concerned Han was a causality of war. Quote "The sacrificing of one individual to save millions is the corner stone of any civilisation."

Question: At one point in the film Doc pulls out a case of "emergency money" he's collected from different time periods. When did he have the time to go to all those time periods? Marty went to 1955 and after getting back Doc went to 2015 before coming straight back again to get Marty to go to the future, so when did Doc have the time to go collecting all that money?

jbrbbt

Answer: He wouldn't have to travel to the specific time periods to get past money; he could have found ways to procure it in the present (from collectors, museums, banks, etc.) before ever time traveling in the first place.

Answer: He didn't just visit 2015 and came straight back. He had visited more places and spend some time travelling before returning to Marty. He collected all the money in those visits.

lionhead

Near the end of the first movie, when Marty asks Doc how far ahead he's going, Doc responds that he's going thirty years into the future.

Moonraker (1979)

Plot hole: The British government sends its best agent to the headquarters responsible for a missing shuttle, and Drax immediately wants to kill the man sent to talk to him. jbrbbt

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: So the villain not killing Bond is a mistake, the villain killing Bond is a mistake too? Like in all spy movies, killing the best agent would win Drax a lot of time to further his plan and eliminate evidence, even if the American and British government will investigate. With Bond dead and the government unable to prove anything for now, Drax is surely not worse off than with a very curious and suspicious agent searching through his hideout now and finding out possibly even more.

Revealing mistake: Every time Blofeld's rocket is shown approaching the American capsule near the end of the movie look closely at the screen. When we see the rocket on the closed-circuit screens you can tell it's a badly superimposed image because you can see the stars passing by behind it.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film the Myers' house is within walking distance of the Strode house, both of which are on one side of town, while the Doyle and Wallace houses are on other considering the driving distance Annie and Laurie had to drive to get to them. But at the end of the film somehow the Myers' house is now within walking distance of the Doyle and Wallace houses.

jbrbbt

Suggested correction: Annie and Laurie took so long to get to the Doyle and Wallace houses simply because they were cruising around town, giving themselves enough time to smoke Annie's weed. After they leave the hardware store when the sun was setting, they continue killing time. That's why it was completely dark by the time they arrived at their babysitting jobs; they didn't drive directly there. Remember also, Tommy walks to school too. If the Strode and Doyle houses were truly a long drive from each other, he and Laurie would've never crossed paths earlier that morning when she drops the key off. The Core (2003)

Revealing mistake: The underground crystal chamber is completely encased in a cobalt shell, yet a light source has to come from somewhere to allow all the crystals to reflect in the dark. The light from the ship wouldn't have been enough to make them all reflect and the magma had not yet breached the ceiling.

Suggested correction: The lights are bright enough. Standard headlights and flashlights easily light a couple hundred meters. The ship had numerous lights so this is easily feasible. Once the magma breached, then you could see even more.

Suggested correction: They have handheld flashlights that can easily hit between 1000 to 2000 meters. The lights from the ship would have been more than powerful enough to cause the crystals to reflect light.

Revealing mistake: When Agent XXX releases the mine under the Lotus, the shadow of the car can still be seen over the mine as it explodes, which should have left the car damaged at such close range.

Under Siege (1992)

Plot hole: An American battleship with an active supply of nuclear warheads on its missiles would in no way allow a helicopter full of strangers to land and deploy without those men being screened for any weapons by the security guards on the ship (even if Krill already knows).

Suggested correction: We are seeing 2 different sets of monitors. When Lo-Pan first comes in, he is next to the 2 monitor set. You can tell that Jack and Wang are looking to their right. Then, Lo Pan moves closer, right in front of them. After a little conversation, Lo Pan backs up straight, still in front of Jack and Wang, to a different set of monitors, with 4 screens. He then leaves, out the same door he came in, to Jack and Wang's right, passing the 2 monitor set on his way out. The monitors stay consistent.

Plot hole: When the doctors are discussing the condition of Bowman's mother, a newspaper headline on the wall displays the pictures of both Bowman and Frank Poole. These pictures are actually still shots of the two actors from an earlier conversation they had with HAL in the previous film. Since Discovery has been dormant for nine years, how did Earth manage to use these particular shots for the newspaper?
