The Big Heist - S4-E5

Trivia: Arnold is in court and the judge asks the family how they know him. Right after Mr. Drummond says "I'm his father", Willis says "I'm his brother" and puts emphasis on "brother." The reason for this was revealed on a blooper program; in an earlier take, just after actor Conraid Bain said "I'm his father", actor Todd Bridges blurted out "I'm his son."

My Baby Valentine - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: Just after Cory talks about being a "baby shower machine", Morgan walks past him. There's then a quick shot of Alan and then we see Cory again, and again Morgan walks past him. It's not the same shot from two different angles, as Cory is acting differently each time.

Boy Meets World (1993)

Season 5 generally

Other mistake: The opening credits for season 5 show June coming out of the front door with a pitcher of what looks like iced tea, and calling for Ward, Wally and Beaver who are all working outside. But the door opens by itself as she comes out, and then closes by itself behind her. If the entire family is outside, who opened and closed the door?

Jeff Swanson

The Dramatic Club - S4-E24

Continuity mistake: When June is talking to Wally, she's wearing a wristwatch and her wedding ring on her left hand. But in a close-up shot of her hands while she's making a sandwich, her left hand is bare with no watch or ring. Back to the wide shot, and the watch and ring are on her hand again. (00:05:25)

Redecorating - S2-E8

Revealing mistake: At the end of the episode, when Ricky and Lucy walk into the bedroom to see the new wallpaper, look behind them when the bedroom door opens and you'll catch a glimpse of William Frawley - waiting for his cue - hiding behind a wall in the background before he ducks back out of sight.

Home Movies - S3-E19

Plot hole: Toward the end of the episode, when the spliced-together movie is shown, there are several scenes from the movie Lucy, Fred and Ethel shot, often showing all three of them on screen at the same time. The problem is that no one else was there with them, yet the camera follows them as they move around the room. Who was running their camera?

Jeff Swanson

Beaver's Dance - S3-E21

Continuity mistake: There are a couple of continuity errors in the dance scene: First, the 4 girls sitting across from the boys switch positions from one shot to the next, then the last girl (long dark hair) disappears from the row of girls entirely, only to show up on the dance floor later in the scene. She was across from (and should have been paired up with) Beaver; instead, the teacher nods toward a now-empty chair and remarks that they "ran out of girls". (00:08:00)

Continuity mistake: Toward the end, when Diane and the kids are trying to escape, they start into the kitchen only to see 2 coffins come up through the floor. The initial shot shows the coffins quickly shooting up to almost the same height and then stopping, but in the next shot, in which the coffin on the right opens, the one on the left is a couple of feet lower and is still slowly rising.

Factual error: In "The State Vs. Chip Douglas", Ernie finds his missing 1914-D penny when it falls out of his pocket. A close-up shows an Indian head penny lying on the floor. The problem is that Indian head pennies were not minted after 1909.

General questions

I've noticed that in some older TV shows where currency is shown, it's fake while on other shows the currency appears to be genuine. I've always wondered why this is and what the laws are regarding it, if any.

Jeff Swanson

Chosen answer: Keep in mind first that real money has a tendency to disappear. So a production is often not going to risk the loss of X amount of money by using the real thing (this is especially true in bank scenes or "raining money" scenes). So the property (props) department on the production will make fake, worthless bills. But... the fake bills can't replicate real bills too closely or they violate U.S. counterfeiting laws. This was especially true in older days when counterfeiting was much easier. Currently, the laws are less restrictive so it's not as obvious. But there are still guidelines (like color and size of bills) that film and television producers must comply with in order to produce fake money.

My Three Sons (1960)

Trivia: The series was filmed out of sequence; Fred MacMurray's scenes were filmed first, while scenes without him were filmed later on. This became evident when Dawn Lyn joined the cast as Dodie. Her permanent teeth were still coming in; as a result, her upper front teeth are barely visible in scenes with MacMurray and more prominent in scenes without him - often in the same episode.

Wally's Girl Trouble - S1-E10

Trivia: Toward the end of the episode, Penny calls Wally and they start to fight over the phone. We hear speeded-up "chipmunk" dialogue to simulate Penny's side of the conversation. The dialogue is actually bits and pieces of Penny's lines from earlier in the episode - complete with the laugh track.

Jeff Swanson

The Clubhouse - S1-E11

Continuity mistake: When Beaver walks over to the window to look outside, the window is fogged up due to a rainstorm. But when he gets there, the pane of glass he looks through is clear - without his having had time to wipe it off. (00:03:05)

Jeff Swanson

Captain Jack - S1-E3

Trivia: The episode "Captain Jack" was the first time a toilet was shown on TV; the boys buy a baby alligator and Wally is shown putting it in the toilet tank. The network censors were so spooked by the thought of showing a toilet on television that they delayed the episode. And when the censors finally relented, the compromise allowed only the toilet tank to be shown, not the bowl.

Jeff Swanson

Trivia: None of the kids were allowed to see the chocolate factory set beforehand, so that their looks of surprise upon seeing it were genuine. But Julie Dawn Cole, who played Veruca, recently admitted that when she was on the set a few weeks earlier to record her song, a stagehand let her take a look at it.

Miniature - S4-E8

Trivia: This was the only hour-long TZ episode never put into syndication. At the time the series was originally syndicated, "Miniature" was involved in a lawsuit due to an earlier script being submitted that dealt with inanimate figures coming to life. The suit claimed that "Miniature" had stolen the idea. The case was dismissed by the initial judge and on appeal, but the damage was done. The episode was aired only twice, on February 21, 1963 and again in 1984 as part of the "Twilight Zone Silver Anniversary Special"; however, the episode is available on DVD and on streaming platforms.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: At no time in the show did they affirm the grass in the backyard is real. Many houses, particularly out west where the show takes place, have artificial grass as it's often easier than caring for real grass which tends to dry up easily out west or not grow at all in some areas. Even in A Very Brady Renovation they made sure to use artificial grass for the backyard.

The grass is supposed to be real. There are several episodes where they are mowing the lawn.

cindyparker827

But the renovation show was in 2019. In the early 70s artificial grass was only starting to be adopted in sports stadiums. Not used in homes until many years later.

General questions

I'm trying to recall the name of a TV show I watched when I was little. I think it was a kid's show; I seem to remember funny skits or cartoons and in between was a little song with the lines "Bibbity bobbity, that makes good sense, good old nonsense!" and "Pennies are pence to me." Does anyone else remember this?
