Over The Top (1987)

Corrected entry: To make the movie seem as authentic as possible, Stallone told the guy playing Bull not to take it easy on him when it was time for them to shoot the final scene of their match together. The guy laughed about the idea but still agreed to do so even though he warned Stallone that he may hurt him. Stallone, made him eat those words when he beat him for real. Everything in that scene is authentic except for close-up shots of their face that were done later due to injuries that both men suffered while the scene was being filmed. Stallone suffered a strained forearm while Bull Hurley's character suffered a dislocated shoulder. The cry from him that you can hear when Stallone is pulling his arm down at the end is the real thing. That's when it happened.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: I don't know where you came up with Stallone beating Zumwalt for real. Not on his best day and with two Arms. Rick Zumwalt was a real arm wrestler. By the time they filmed the finals Stallone could barely pull. He did way too much, thinking because he trained all the time. It would be easy. Arm wrestling is an entirely different sport, and everyone in the beginning deals with unimaginable pain.

I tried to look up stories of Stallone actually beating Zumwalt. In all the stories from the people and wrestlers at the tournament, nothing is mentioned about it. Only that the punch from Zumwalt was real. There's only one source I found "10 things you didn't know about 'Over the Top'" by Tom Foster. The trivia entry is almost word for word copy of some the "facts" listed. However, Foster doesn't site any sources, quote anyone, or mention at all where he got this information.

Trading Places (1983)

Corrected entry: When Valentine, and Winthorpe, are sitting in the living room you hear them talking but you can barely hear the TV. But as soon as Clarence Beaks' name is mentioned on the TV, all of a sudden the volume goes up without anyone touching a button. (01:25:20)

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The TV's volume doesn't actually change within the context of the scene, it only does so to draw the audience's attention. When Valentine and Winthorpe are speaking the film's audio is focused on their dialogue so the audience can hear them without the sound of the TV interfering. Then when Beaks appears on the TV, the audio is now focused on the televised news report.

Predator 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: After the Predator snatches the skull and spine from Bill Paxton and starts to street level while being chased by Danny Glover, you can see that the Predator is not carrying nor has the skull attached to it in any kind of way while jumping from rooftop to rooftop. (01:02:50)

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: In a closeup as the Predator is climbing, you can see the skull and spine are tied in one piece to his back.

Movie Nut

If so, I stand corrected.

The Mummy Returns (2001)

Corrected entry: If Rick received his Maji tattoo when he was a kid in the orphanage, there is no way that it would look as good as it does as an adult. Just his body growing would have stretched the tattoo considerably.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: This is not a mistake. Rick doesn't specify how old he was. He could have been 16 in the orphanage, in which case his body was very close to full grown, thus not changing the tattoo much.

The Scorpion King (2002)

Corrected entry: Watch the guards' shoes during the final fight sequence. Some of them are wearing Nikes that painted black. If you pause, you can make out the "swoosh" outline on the shoe.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The need to pause to see the swoosh invalidates the entry according to site rules.

Corrected entry: When Taj first drives up in the golf cart to the house he will be staying at, you can see tire marks in the grass from the golf cart that were made during previous shots being filmed.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: It's a university with hundreds, if not thousands, of students. It's more than possible that some student or faculty member, at some point in the past, could very well have driven a cart previous to Taj arriving in the area.

Transformers (2007)

Corrected entry: During the scene when Sam, is telling the story of his grandfather and at the same time trying to sell his grandfather's items, you can see the boom mic just above his head.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: A fault of the theatre you watched it in, not of the movie.

Ghost Rider (2007)

Corrected entry: When Ghost Rider, is riding his bike into town towards at the end of the movie he's shown riding through some sort of swamp like water (possibly because of the 'water' demon). After he defeats the water demon he climbs out of the water to his bike which is now sitting on dry land.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The bike can and does ride/drive itself. As evident when the Ghost Rider is breaking out of jail and the bike rides through the garage jumping over the cop making his rounds.

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Corrected entry: When the prosecutor meets Vinny in court for the first time he asks him "Is your attorney present?" This would make no sense considering (3) things. (1) He would have had a photo identification of any suspects prior to trial. (2) The sheriff was right behind him in court when they met so the sheriff should have interceded and told the prosecutor that Vinny wasn't the person on trial. And (3) he should have know that he was prosecuting 2 teenagers, not a single grown man.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: This statement is intended as an insult. He is mocking Vinny's ability to represent anyone.

wizard_of_gore

Corrected entry: When Terry is being dragged away by the tow truck, she is still trying to talk on the phone which is not possible since everything attached to the phone booth has been ripped away by the truck pulling it.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: Terri is panicking and not thinking straight; it also adds to the comedy element of the scene.

Corrected entry: Station, while making the robots in the back of the van could not have spray painted them then start welding again without the sparks igniting the paint. Spraying anything in a closed space would keep vapors in that could trigger if exposed to any type of flame or spark.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: Station only used the welder very briefly in the scene after spraypainting robot Ted. And we do not know how much 'real time' passed between the painting and that welding. If it had been less than a minute, I'd agree. If it were 10 minutes, likely the gases would have dissipated before Station used the welder again.

Madagascar (2005)

Corrected entry: There is no way that a wooden crate would be able to not take on water and sink to the bottom of the ocean once it fell off of the ship, especially if you consider what's being transported, e.g. the hippo.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The crate could have taken on water, however wouldn't sink to the bottom of the ocean, even with the hippo inside 1) because the crate is made out of wood it would float with its top just slightly above the water level albeit filled with water, 2) a hippo floats in water so even better in salt water even in decomposed state.

Corrected entry: The Anaconda's teeth in this movie have been drastically upgraded from the ones in the first movie. How is it possible that the "black guy" who survives at the end would not have considerable puncture wounds in his back let alone be breathing as good as he was after having been bitten and crushed by this huge reptile. The other members do not even care for a wound on his body after this happens. They just simply give him mouth to mouth to revive him.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: He is wearing a backpack and if you watch closely, that is what the anaconda grabs to pull him up in the tree, the next time we see him he is being crushed by the anaconda. We never actually see him getting bitten.

Any Given Sunday (1999)

Corrected entry: There is a team that the Sharks play (I think the last team in the movie) that does not have numbers on the front of their jerseys. This is illegal by football rules because all teams must display numbers on the front, back, shoulders and or sleeve of the jersey.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The league they play in is not a real football league. Their final game is not the super bowl, but the pantheon cup. Since it is not a real league, we can't compare its rules to the rules of the NFL or any other real leagues.

James Storck

Corrected entry: When Station, is making the robot Bill and Ted, in the back of the van you see him using a welders mask while doing work to the robots. However there is a close-up scene of his eyes while he is doing welding without the mask which would make no sense to even use the mask before if he didn't plan on using it each time. The smartest being(s) in the world should know that not doing so can eventually make you go blind.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: Station isn't human - maybe he tried the mask initially, realised welding wasn't dangerous to his alien eyes, and took it off.

Predator 2 (1990)

Corrected entry: In the original movie the Predator, takes off his mask for the first time before kicking Arnold's butt, he removes a hose type attachment from each side of the mask before he takes it off. In this film, Danny Glover's, character only takes off the hose from the right side of the Predator's mask.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: All Predators have differently designed masks (they're custom-made, if you will). Just look at "Alien vs. Predator", the design differences between the three predators' masks and armor are significant.

Mr. 3000 (2004)

Corrected entry: In the beginning, the Brewers players are wearing the current style uniforms that they use today. But at the time Stan Ross retired, seven years earlier, they should have been wearing the style from the '94-'99 seasons.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: The jerseys are correct. If you look when he is playing in the beginning, the jersey is the 94-99 style. Look at the way "Brewers" is written, at first it is plain block style with the old MB logo on the helmet. When he goes back to play in the current, Brewers is written in a cursive style and the hat/helmet has only the M. It is correct.

Rocky IV (1985)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Rocky is driving his car after the talk with Adrian, he begins to have flashbacks of events that have happened in the previous three movies. During those scenes, there are a couple of shots which show Drago, standing alone in the dark with a strobe light flashing for effect making it seem like he's standing in front of Rocky, for the fight. His face in these scenes show him as though he has already been fighting but unless it's just Rocky's imagination it doesn't make sense to have it look that way since Apollo, didn't even make a scratch on Drago's face during their fight. Rocky is the only fighter to ever seriously beat Drago, so his face wouldn't have looked like that until it was their fight at the end of the movie.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: Yes, the flashback does happen in Rocky's imagination (or at least his memory), so it would appear differently from reality.

Myridon

Corrected entry: At the end, when Jack Hall finds his son in the library, he opens a door to the room where all of them were staying. The door is completely frozen. Opening the door by it's handle should have caused the handle to break, if not shatter, at that temperature. It would not have just opened as easily as it did.

Rollin Garcia Jr

Correction: Its only frost all over the walls and door handle. The freezing point of a metal door handle is much lower than the temperature depicted in the movie. The door handle would have to be immersed in liquid nitrogen in order to fracture and break apart like you say it should.
