Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Aladdin is holding the Black Genie Lamp as Jafar is swirling down into it. Just before the moment of impact, Aladdin removes his left hand from the base of the lamp, and grasps the handle with his left hand, Instantly, his left hand is back around the base again. You can see it well at full speed, but is much more startling on slow motion play.

Continuity mistake: After the Prince Ali Parade has ended, and Jafar is pushing the participants out the door, Ali is standing on Magic Carpet on top of Abu as the elephant. Ali and Carpet lift off and fly towards the Sultan sitting on his throne. As Aladdin swoops up and we get a quick shot showing the 3 marble columns that are each side of the throne. A balcony is on each side of the throne which is only accessible by walking through the columns. When Ali stops and bows to the Sultan. The background behind Aladdin shows all balcony. They forgot to add the columns.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin is shackled to the dungeon wall. The light that falls on him is slanted downward to the right, with the center pane of light in the top row illuminating Aladdin's face. After Abu gets down to Aladdin, Abu makes fun of Jasmine by impersonating a girl and swinging his monkey tail. Aladdin replies" But she was in trouble", just then, Abu jumps up to pick the lock and the panes of light are now angled in the opposite direction. They now tilt downward to the left with Aladdin's face illuminated by the far right pane of light. The light cast by that window changes position and angle constantly.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the "One Jump" chase scene, the guards are chasing Aladdin and jump out the window as Aladdin jumps out with the carpet he uses to glide to safety. The swords the guards have been carrying have totally disappeared from their hands, (and are not in their belts), all the way down to the manure cart.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Jafar attempts to stop the Sultan from taking a Magic Carpet ride around the throne room by holding the carpet to the floor with his snake head staff. Iago, the parrot, is holding onto the smooth part of the staff when the Sultan looks up at Jafar. In error, Iago is shown with three long toes on each foot rather than two on each. Iago is supposed to have two long toes on each foot and one very tiny toe that forms a heel. This fact shows up often in the rest of the film. It is extremely rare for a lead character in a Disney Feature Film to be drawn "Off Model".

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: In the opening of the Aladdin in the Dungeon Scene, The camera pans straight down at Aladdin. To the left of Aladdin is a pile of large pots. Directly next to Aladdin is a Large Platter about 3 feet across and a jug standing up next to it. Suddenly as the camera approaches Aladdin closely, the size of the platter and the bottle instantly shrink, on camera, to dinner plate size and cola bottle size, and are just to Aladdin's leg on the left of the frame. After that camera shot,we never see the pots, that plate or that bottle again. Now the floor is totally empty everywhere in the dungeon.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Jasmine has returned to her balcony after the "Magic Carpet Ride". Throughout the ride and balcony scene, Prince Ali's hair has been noticeably hanging out in the front of his turban. Even as Ali falls back on the Magic Carpet, and they make the descent back to the garden, and Ali lands face up on the ground, lots of hair is sticking out. When the guards hands appear in the frame to grab Ali, his hair becomes completely tucked under his turban for the entire time the guards shackle him and knock him out.

Continuity mistake: In the Market Place, the Rug Vendor's stand is next to and to the left of the Apple Vendor's stand, ( Where Jasmine is accused of stealing). The rug stand goes through multiple changes. First as Jasmine walks past the Rug Vendor's stand, it has a large window with open shutters on the wall behind it, in the center under the canopy, with no rugs hanging up. Then as she is told by the Apple Vendor, " You better be able to pay for that", the Rug Vendor's stand to the left has nothing on the wall behind it at all. As Aladdin and Jasmine are leaving the scene, Jasmine says to the camel, " Why, Hello Doctor" and the Rug vendor's stand has rugs hanging all over the entire wall.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin enters his rooftop hideaway, the curtain over the window is supported by a peg on each side. The curtain sags down it the middle to show this fact. When Aladdin opens it later, it slides over as though it were on a curtain rod. Also of note, our first look at the curtain shows it going all the way to the floor. When he tucks Abu in, then turns to open it, the curtain is now above the rim of the wall and less torn. When he slides the curtain open, Aladdin is by Abu on the right of the window, he never takes any steps, but once the curtain is open, Aladdin is on the far left of the window 12 feet away and sits down.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Thoughout the scene involving the Apple Vendor, the support on the left side of his canopy is a large and obviously forked tree branch. Then, at the end, after Abu takes a bow and spills all of his stolen goodies from his vest, the Apple Vendor hollers out," Stop, you little thieves". The support on the left side of his stand is very shown next to him, is an single, straight and unforked branch.

Continuity mistake: In the scene with Jafar as a snake, he is told by Aladdin that the Genie has more power than he will ever have, "He gave you your powers, he could take them away". Jafar as snake replies, "You're right, his power does exceed my own". After Jafar says this, watch his mouth as he speaks the next few lines of dialog. His lower set of teeth begin to vanish on camera. This happens when his face is filling the screen for a great view of his vanishing then missing teeth.

Aladdin (1992)

Trivia: In the original theatrical release of Aladdin, the opening song, "Arabian Nights" was different. American citizens of Middle Eastern descent took offense at the line referring to the Middle East as a place where, " They cut off your ear if they don't like your face, It's barbaric, but hey, It's home". This version still survives on the original music cassette release of the Disney Music, "Songs from Aladdin" tape, as well as on the movie soundtrack. The cassette was released the week of the movie in retail stores. The written lyrics are also in the various original Disney Music Publishing "Score from the Movie Aladdin", sheet music books. In the video release, the song was looped in with new lines" Where it's hot and immense and the heat is intense, It's barbaric, but hey, It's home".

Continuity mistake: Each time the palace is shown in a long shot, it has a straight, wide road leading up to the palace gates. After Jafar has been turned into a genie trapped in the black lamp, and the spells are broken, everything is restored to it's original splendor. However, when the palace is shown to be restored, it no longer has a road leading up to it. The area is packed with houses. Was it put back in the wrong spot?

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin has just escaped with Jasmine from the Apple Vendor problem, and have climbed onto a roof top, a long shot shows the building rooftop that they must leap to next door is exactly the same distance apart from the front to the back of the building they where first on. It looks like 12-15 feet apart. When Aladdin makes the leap, the view from the alley way showing Alladin's leap between the buildings shows they are are substantially further apart, 25-30 feet, and situated more corner to corner than side by side. But when he lands they are side by side again.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: Jafar is in the throne room on his knees before the Sultan while being questioned about the "Beheading" of Aladdin. While Jafar is in the kneeling position he is holding his snake headed staff next to him upright in his left hand. The length of the staff has become only about 3 feet high. When Jafar later stands up, it is restored to it's original length. The staff can't fold up or telescope like a car antenna. It is shown to be solid and sturdy many times, notably when Jafar uses it to try to prevent the Sultan's Magic Carpet Ride around the Throne Room. Jafar pins the Magic Carpet down with a thud then Sultan forcefully kicks it away.

Aladdin (1992)

Continuity mistake: When Aladdin is shackled in the dungeon seated against the wall with his hands above his head he is bathed in moonlight coming through a window. The camera actually pans from the window directly to Aladdin so that the light source is definite. The window has nine open panes, the light it casts has 12 panes.
