Dreary look

Movies Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009)
Not sure why they made the choice to shoot the film in such a dreary colour palette..? It was the same with the last few Harry Potter films, the overall colour tone of the films was grey / brown / blue and gloomy. The early Harry Potter films were so much more vibrant in colour and visually enjoyable to watch.

It made sense dramatically in the later Harry Potter films to darken the colour because that reflected the darker dramatic tone of the books, but Fantastic Beasts could have been vibrantly coloured in keeping with its magical creatures. Maybe they wanted to give it a historical 1920s look? Or maybe they were trying not to make it look like a kids only film?
