Corrected entry: In the scene in the where the girl falls down into the mine shaft with the rattle snakes - she is bitten on the hand by a rattle snake. I could swear the scene shows the snake biting her right hand, not sure which hand Rooster cuts to suck out the venom - but in the final scene the older woman has her left arm amputated.

Correction: She was lying on her back, facing up toward the opening, and she was bitten on her left hand. She reaches across her body toward Rooster and when Rooster cuts the wound to remove the venom, you can see it's the left hand because the thumb is pointing to the left as he holds it.

Corrected entry: LaBeof was using a single shot Sharps 50-90, there was no reload scene before Mattie shot Chaney.

Correction: Matt Damon reloads a round in his Sharps 50-90 right before he's hit in the head, and you can see Mattie close the breach block on the rifle with the lever, because a bullet had just been chambered but not fully been put into battery.

Corrected entry: When the two peace officers attempt to demonstrate their prowess with firearms, Rooster discharges his Colt six-shooter eight times without reloading.

Correction: Rooster fires his colt revolver five times, and then out of frame switches to one of his navy sixes to finish shooting the cornbread. The brass trigger guard can be seen when the camera returns to him.

Corrected entry: When she is climbing up the tree to cut the hanged man free, she is wearing her coat over her leggings and has her belt wrapped around her waist with the buckle in the back. When she gets down she is wearing a shorter jacket with a fabric belt sewn into the waist.

Correction: During the whole climb Mattie is not wearing her long overcoat, only the smaller jacket.

Corrected entry: When Maddie starts to cross the river on horseback at the beginning, she has her bed roll across her back. When she reaches the other side and rides up to Rooster, her bed roll is tied to the back of her saddle.

Correction: This isn't the case. She has her bed roll on her back as she rides from the stables to Rooster's lodgings, but it's gone when she goes in to find his landlord lying in his bed. When she arrives at the river, the bed roll is on the back of the saddle and stays there throughout the scene.

Corrected entry: The shoot out at the end has 4 bad guys on their horses, but only three die. Marshal Cogburn shoots two guys of their horses and the other guy gets sniped by Laboeuf's Sharp carbine.

Correction: That's incorrect. All four get shot, Pepper is only wounded and rides back to shoot Cogburn before Pepper is sniped.

Corrected entry: When Rooster attempts to demonstrate his shooting ability, he discharges 4 rounds from his Colt Peacemaker at the glass bottle, then falls off his horse. Getting up, he retrieves his weapon, shoves it in the holster, and takes some cornbread out of his saddlebag. He fires once at the cornbread, then suddenly has a .44 Dragoon Colt in his hand. He throws up two pieces of cornbread, and his 6th round is once again from the Peacemaker. His last two shots are from the .44.

Correction: He's got two guns.

Corrected entry: Viewed from the cliff we see a muzzle flash as Ned shoots Rooster point blank. (There is not a sound, but earlier scenes have had delayed sounds so it seems plausible.) When Rooster next appears he saves Maddie from the snakes and he is unharmed.

Correction: The scene you are referring to is not when Rooster is shot. The flash we see is Rooster firing his gun. Rooster is indeed shot in his shoulder during the gunfight, and you can clearly see blood stains on his shoulder in the cave with Maddie.

Mortug

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie, Maddie Ross explains that her mother is at home taking care of her sister Victoria and her brother. Later in the movie she writes a letter to her mother and says to give Violet a pinch on the cheek (she is referring to her sister).

Correction: "Violet" could very well be a nickname she had for her little sister.

Twotall

Corrected entry: In the scene where the young Texas ranger has bitten his tongue nearly off, he can barely talk. Once inside the cabin at the dinner table, he is talking without so much as a lisp, then the next scene outside he is again talking with an injured tongue.

Correction: Its possible for him to be talking almost normally (he still had a slight lisp). I get seizures every so often and bite the heck out of my tongue, when that happens my tongue swells up for a little bit so speaking is a little hard, but it gets easier as time passes.

Corrected entry: Mattie is wearing a knife in the scene when she cuts down the hanging man. But when she falls into the pit she sees the knife on the corpse and tries to get it and disturbs the snakes. Why did she not go for her knife then?

Correction: Actually if you watch closely after she gets down from the tree and walks back over to Rooster you will see her hand him the knife,He just lent her the knife to cut the man down out of the tree.So when she falls in the pit of snakes she has no knife.

Corrected entry: After Maddie Ross gets bitten by the rattle snake, LaBoeuf has to stay behind because they only have one horse and Cogburn needs to get Maddie help immediately. Cogburn tells LaBoeuf he will be back for him. However, when Maddie and Cogburn are leaving they ride right by the dead Ned Pepper's horse which was well within walking distance for LaBoeuf.

Correction: Ned Pepper's horse was down in the valley, a considerable distance from the hilltop overlook. LaBoeuf was basically incapacitated after being assaulted by Tom Chaney; Cogburn must have doubted that LaBoeuf could make it down to Pepper's horse. Even if LaBoeuf could make it down to the valley there was no way to know that the horse would still be there.

BocaDavie

Corrected entry: In the scene where the girl crosses the river on the horse she is wet right up to her neck. Once out of the river talking to Cogburn she is completely dry.

DV2061

Correction: If you look closely, there is water dripping from her hat and her coat is much darker from being wet.

Corrected entry: Near the climax of the film when Mattie falls into the pit next to the corpse, she gets bitten by a snake on her right hand. She's laying on her back and the snake is on the left side of the screen . When she's shown as an old woman at the end of the movie, her left arm has been amputated because of the bite. She's walking into town with her back to the audience.

FlyWillis

Correction: This has already been corrected twice. She is bitten on her left hand.

MovieFan612

Continuity mistake: In the first shot of the dead man hanging form the tree, his head appears to be about 12" from the tree limb. After Mattie climbs up to cut him down, his head is several feet from the tree limb.

Rooster Cogburn: You go for a man hard enough and fast enough, he don't have time to think about how many's with him; he thinks about himself, and how he might get clear of that wrath that's about to set down on him.
