56 mistakes

Audio problem: A soda can that is supposed to be full hits the man. When the can hits the ground you can hear that it's empty.

Add time

Factual error: The mounted machine gun fires far too many shots for the limited supply of ammo it has in the box attached to it.

Add time

David Mercier

Visible crew/equipment: In the closeup shots of the soda cans shooting out, you can very clearly see the the two hoses which are making the sodas shoot out.

Add time

Factual error: The rocket launcher that is used on the big yellow plough is a single shot M1A1 L.A.W. (Light Anti-tank Weapon). However, the woman then picks it up and fires it again. It could not have had another rocket in it, and reloading it takes much longer than the few seconds between firings in the film. Plus Joey didn't connect the firing clip to the trigger mechanism, as would be needed.

Add time

David Mercier

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Curt and Connie are attempting to get into the truck stop, the beer truck is ramming their car after they are freed from it. The driver of the beer truck is visible for a few seconds.

Add time

Visible crew/equipment: When the trucks have been circling the diner for about 20 minutes, in a leading shot of the big green goblin head on what appears to be the main truck, you can see a light coloured car in said truck's shiny metal bumper, but there are just trucks in the circle of possessed vehicles. The truck in front of the green goblin head truck isn't that colour either.

Add time

Continuity mistake: The amount of blood in the stains of Emilio Estevez's shirt changes between scenes. Sometimes they are small stains, close to the holes, then they are larger, as if blood seeped into the shirt, then they are smaller and slightly different in position in a later shot.

Add time

Continuity mistake: At the baseball field, a steamroller comes crashing through the billboard and rolls over a boy on the ground. You can see the roller's steering wheel falling off when he crashes through the board. The next shot, it is there again.

Add time

Visible crew/equipment: When Deke is riding his bike down the street on the ground you can see the camera cars tire tracks. This is only visible in the wet parts of the street.

Add time

Continuity mistake: At the baseball park when the steamroller runs over the kid, first the the kid has his arms on top of his head, then in the next shot his arms are down.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When the ice-cream van is being shot at the end of the film, for a single shot you can see the driver sitting in it.

Add time

David Mercier

Visible crew/equipment: When the gunner is about to explode, you can see the incendiary device under the gunner.

Add time

Revealing mistake: During the scene where Curt and Connie stop at the gas station, When Curt jumps to avoid the tow truck, you can see the dead gas station attendant (or possibly a crew member) laying down. When the truck skids to a stop you can briefly see him get up and move around behind the bushes to the left.

Revealing mistake: During the bridge scene when the gray van crushes the red Chevette, if you look to the right of the screen a dummy is visible in the ACDC van.

Other mistake: Hendershott fires the L.A.W., then gets killed. Nobody reloads it, but Wanda fires it at the beer truck as she dies.

Add time

Movie Nut

Revealing mistake: When the trucks start circling the Dixie Boy the red garbage truck hits a telephone booth. A human arm is visible, you can also see an arm in the orange Bic truck when it cuts into the blue 15 truck.

Add time

Revealing mistake: After Hendershot blows up the two trucks, Brett runs into the door. It's very obvious the glass was removed and replaced with plastic because it makes a plastic sounding noise and wobbles.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When the red Autocar garbage truck hits the bible salesman's car, you can see a harness holding the two front tires in place for the truck to make the car fishtail.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When Hendershott is shot after shooting the bulldozer, you can see the blood packs used under his shirt.

Add time

Movie Nut

Revealing mistake: When the lawn mower starts itself and tries to pursue Deke, from the back, the front wheels are on the ground and rolling. From the front angle, the front wheels are off the ground. There is a piece of material on the front that was added to hide the steering rig used to make it turn to chase Deke, but the rig's wheels are just visible.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Continuity mistake: The angle and height of the bridge changes depending on close ups and long shots.

Add time

amycamille1975

Continuity mistake: When Curtis is looking inside the gas station, if you look to the left where the pile of junk is, there's a white vehicle that's missing both headlights. After the tow truck tries to hit Curtis the white vehicle in the junk pile has a brand new left headlight.

Add time

Audio problem: In the end when Brad is taking the dead woman's ring, the Happy Toyz truck is sitting there silently. If you look closely, you can see a gentle stream of exhaust from the pipes, meaning that the truck is idling. Yet a moment later you hear it starting up.

Add time

Factual error: When the fuel tanker comes over to have Billy drop fuel, he pulls the hose down and plugs it into the tank receptacle. The troubles here are that 1) the hose wouldn't be connected in transit, it would be stowed on the side unconnected. 2) elastic straps are usually employed to keep the hoses secured until the tanker gets to its destination to drop the load.

Add time

Movie Nut

Other mistake: When the Happy Toyz truck is first being fueled, the nozzle handle is locked into the fuel position. When you hear the click of the nozzle stopping, the handle doesn't disengage as it should. When the attendant checks it, he unlocks the handle, and doesn't squeeze it again. Even accounting for the comet's effects, the handle must be squeezed to splash fuel in the man's face.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Continuity mistake: When the trucks start circling the Dixie Boy, they show the Green Goblin truck starting the circle, and you see the old blue and white truck behind the orange Bic truck, then the next scene shows the toilet paper truck etc. and the blue and white truck is shown again.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When the bulldozer and army car show up at the Dixie Boy, the army car is missing the cap on the horn, but then when it is giving Morse code the cap appears.

Add time

Visible crew/equipment: During the ballpark scene, when the cans strike the coach they show a shot of the kids and there's a person in the background with a blue shirt standing there, then the cans attack the kids and he's walking around like nothing's happening. Obviously he's not supposed to be in the movie.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When Curtis and Connie attempt to get into the Dixie Boy their stunt doubles are visible.

Add time

Factual error: When the fuel truck arrives at the Dixie Boy to refuel the receptacle the spigot is moving by itself to release the fuel, however this is impossible because the spigot doesn't have electrical components, just like the spigot for the water sprinklers when Deke is riding through the neighborhood.

Add time

Plot hole: All the vehicles and machines that came alive had some electrical component to them. Even though the little ATV with the machine gun on it would obey that rule, the machine gun isn't electrically connected. It shouldn't have been able to operate it.

Add time

poehitman

Visible crew/equipment: As Bill and the rest go back inside after the two trucks get blown up, the camera and cameraman are reflected in the door.

Add time

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When the Bible salesman pulled in, the left two hubcaps came off. Later, as the garbage semi goes to hit it, all four are missing.

Add time

Movie Nut

Other mistake: On the ball field, the one kid running away gets hit in the lower back by the soda can. Problem is the soda can looked as if it were tossed in a gentle arc rather than directly at him. Also, it barely touched him, and he took a few more steps, then grabbed the spot it hit him, then fell, rather than falling immediately.

Add time

Movie Nut

Visible crew/equipment: As the girl sneaks up on Bill as he's checking out the Happy Toyz truck, the lighting rig and equipment is reflected on the left brake light lens.

Add time

Movie Nut

Revealing mistake: At the end of the movie when the survivors are sailing on the boat, the guy piloting it is Steve's stunt double because he has straight hair and is a completely different actor. In the next shot it's Steve piloting the boat.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When the Miller beer semi hits the car the second time, you can see the truck's exhaust stack isn't connected.

Add time

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: We see a longshot view of the trucks circling the Dixie Boy, then we see Hendershot saying the trucks can't run if they're depot-ed, then we see another long shot of the trucks circling the Dixie Boy and the trucks are forming the circle again.

Add time

Revealing mistake: In the shot after the motorcyclist falls into the water, the camera shakes and you can also see something lifting the cameraman up.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When the Green Goblin truck is starting to back up to hit the bible salesman, if you look to the left of the screen you can see the red Autocar garbage truck parked, despite riding around the Dixie Boy as the bible salesman is cussing at it.

Add time

Factual error: When Curt and Connie are at the railroad crossing, the lights flash but the bells do not ring. The lights on the gates don't flash either. The lights and bells on the railroad crossing are hooked up on the same circuit.

Add time

AAL117

Continuity mistake: When Connie and Curt go to the gas station a tow truck pulls out to the street on the driver's side - the door is there. But when the truck plows through the front of the gas station and hits Curtis, Curtis sits up and the driver's side door of the tow truck is gone.

Add time

Mathew Grinnell

Continuity mistake: When Bill and Brett are talking they show the red Auto car Zeke's garbage truck and it's parked between the old blue truck and the toilet paper truck, but when the garbage truck is about to hit Duncan it's parked next to the white Mack cab over truck.

Add time

RJTheAlternative1

Continuity mistake: During the bridge scene when the watermelon truck crushes the station wagon they show a long shot from the bridge and you can see the watermelon truck crushing the station wagon again. Also the yellow car is in a normal position despite flipping backwards before.

Add time

RJTheAlternative1

Factual error: When the truck is straddling the gap of the halves of the drawbridge in the beginning, the rear axle falls off and rolls down the slope. While funny, this is mechanically impossible.

Add time

Movie Nut

Other mistake: It was interesting that the beer truck didn't continue to run. The rocket blew up the side of the trailer, and the tractor was not affected, so it could have continued to run, like Zeke's garbage hauler after it dumped on the bible salesman's car.

Add time

Movie Nut

Factual error: A big sign at the pumps states that diesel is priced at $1.089, yet when the trucks are being filled, the price per gallon is around 55 cents. In the 70's, when product reached the $1 mark, pumps were set to half price, and the customer paid double the total, but by 1987, the time frame of the movie, the pump computers would have been replaced to show true pricing.

Add time

goofyfoot

Continuity mistake: When Wanda is mowed down by the machine gun, she fires the rocket launcher. It was fired at a about a forty degree angle, but the rocket went directly at the beer truck. If you look, the rocket and its exhaust trail disappear about a second before the trailer blows up. Also, there is no impact spot from the rocket.

Add time

Movie Nut

Factual error: When Hendershot fired the LAW at the trucks, the double doors weren't affected. In reality, the doors would have been pulverized by the backwash of the rocket launching. If there is anything or anybody directly behind the LAW when it's fired for a distance of up to 25 feet, destruction or death is assured.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Continuity mistake: When the log truck is chasing Connie and Curtis, they look back and see it closing the distance. Then it pulls alongside, and Connie says "It's gonna bump us!" A second after that, the camera looks at them. They are looking back at the truck, rather than to their left where it supposedly is.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Visible crew/equipment: When Curtis and Connie are being chased by the driverless tow truck, as it first starts to try to get Curtis, you can faintly see a driver.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Continuity mistake: When the bike flips the kid in front of the scoreboard, the steamroller comes crashing out and kills him. It would have had to already been in motion for it to move like it did, therefore been seen moving before the breakout. If it was hiding behind the board and just starting to move, it would have been a lot slower.

Add time

Robert Cotton

Continuity mistake: When the bible guy gets backed into, he flies over the guardrail and there's no blood on the truck at all. When it drives away, there's blood splattered everywhere.

Add time

amycamille1975

Other mistake: In the pop machine scene, player number 7 gets hit in the head. Yet he stands there like nothing happened before he finally falls down and dies.

Add time

Revealing mistake: After the waitress gets cut with the knife, she leans on the grill, it makes a sizzling sound and yet she doesn't get burned.

Add time
