Factual error: Trevor - a Professor of Geology - boasts about having an article published in Scientific American, and that is not something any scientist would do. Scientific American is looked upon with slight disdain by the scientific community, considered to be a populist crowd pleaser. It is not even peer reviewed. Considering that he has just turned the geological and archaeological worlds on their heads he would have been better off publishing in Journal of Geological Research or Geology, both prestigious professional journals.
Continuity mistake: After Trevor and Sean clamber out of the lagoon that they landed in, they begin to remove their jackets because they are soaking wet. However between sudden shots, the beanie hat and headlight that Sean was wearing on his head instantly vanishes, with no time for him to have removed it himself.
Continuity mistake: After Trevor, Hannah and Sean are forced out of the mountain (inside the T-Rex skull) by the pressure of the geyser, as they fall back down to the ground, they begin to slide through shrubbery. Between shots as they slide through, the amount of greenery and leaves that is inside the skull keeps changing from hardly any, to a lot, etc.
Continuity mistake: As Trevor is telling Sean to check his watch in order to time how long it takes for the glowstick to reach the bottom of the chasm, Sean removes the torch from under his neck and points it onto his watch. Suddenly in the next shot the torch is back under his neck.
Continuity mistake: After trying to tidy up the lounge area, Trevor gives up and resorts to throwing a large blanket over the central table, which he grabs from the sofa. After he picks up the blanket, between shots the position of the items on the sofa changes and also a cushion appears from nowhere.
Continuity mistake: After Sean lands on the beach after being carried away on the kite, the position of the ropes that are attached to the sail, laying on the beach keep changing position. Also, Sean removes the ropes that are wrapped around his arms after he wakes up, but after he drinks some of the beach water, the ropes are wrapped back on his arms.
Continuity mistake: When Trevor finds the copy of 'The Journey to the Center of the Earth' inside Max's box, although the title is spelt this way on the front cover of the book, as he looks through the pages, on the insides of the book you can clearly see the headers spelling the title as Centre instead of like Center on the front cover.
Continuity mistake: When Sean is jumping around the floating, magnetic rocks, a piece breaks off and falls. Why does it fall? It would just float next to the big one - held up by the magnetism. It might even float higher up, since Sean's weight should affect the bigger piece a bit.

Continuity mistake: Trevor is going over notes scribbled in Max's copy of the book on the airplane. As he talks to Sean about the notes and how he is trying to decipher the Sigurbjorn Asgeirsson notes, in the first few shots of these notes most of them are written in clear jet black ink, nice and new. But in the closeup as Sean runs his finger down the notes, the same writing is now differently written and the ink looks much more faded.
Continuity mistake: As the T-Rex skull comes to a sliding stop at the bottom of the hill, Trevor, Sean and Hannah get splattered by berries. In the first shot there are a lot of berries on Trevor's shirt and face, then in the next shot there is hardly any and then there's a lot again in the third shot.
Continuity mistake: When Trevor, Hannah and Sean are being pushed up in the T-Rex skull by the geyser, they are laying in the skull and you can see that there is harness rope that comes out from behind Trevor and Hannah's back (that they are laying on). But in the shot when they are pushed out the mountain by the geyser and reach their highest point (before they start falling back down to the ground again) there is no rope visible behind them or in the skull at all. In the following shot as they fall back down to the ground, the rope has reappeared.

Other mistake: Sean's mobile phone rings when sailing on the underground sea. Fun - but there would NOT be mobile connection deep down in the center of the Earth. And it has nothing to do with there being natural life, because mobile connection require people to set up antennas and stuff. They don't grow in nature.

Plot hole: When falling into the deep, deep hole, the three would be killed upon impact, and the fact that they follow water will not change anything. They will still be falling with more than 180 km/h. The water isn't slowing them down, as nothing is holding the water up. So it will be free-falling too - with more or less the same speed.

Continuity mistake: When Trevor is sitting at the table flipping through the copy of the 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' book he found in Max's box, his location in the book keeps drastically changing from shot to shot, from almost at the start of the book, to the back and to the middle, and so on.
Continuity mistake: When Trevor and Sean climb out of the lagoon, they realise Hannah is still underwater so Trevor dives back in to rescue her. When he retrieves her from the water and they all scramble back onto the rocks, Trevor leans his head back onto his backpack. In the next shot his head is now resting on the rocky shore below his backpack.
Factual error: When Trevor, Sean and Hannah enter the cave full of emeralds, rubies and diamonds, you can clearly see that these precious stones are not in their rough, natural forms. Instead the diamonds are crystal clear and look shiny and polished. In reality they would be rough and have a murky yellow tint to them.
Continuity mistake: When Trevor is fighting off the carnivorous plants that are attacking him and holding Hannah hostage, in one shot we see him punch into the mouth of one plant, causing his hand to become entirely covered in a sticky goo. In the following shots however, the same hand is now clean.
Continuity mistake: As Trevor and Hannah and the boy are traveling up the volcano on the cushion of steam, Trevor's arm constantly changes position instantly with different shots. Sometimes his arm is across Hannah's chest, then it's under her head, and back across her chest.
Continuity mistake: After leaving the lagoon area and exploring the rest of the 'Center of the Earth', the size and appearance of the wet patches on everyone's clothes, especially on the front of Trevor's jumper, continue to change from smaller to larger to darker and lighter, etc.

Revealing mistake: After Trevor has been lowered above the pit of magma, in an attempt to light the magnesium walls with a flare, we see shots of Sean hanging over the edge of the inside of the T-Rex skull. Sean's hands are resting on a large tooth in the skull, which clearly shakes like a fake prop each time he touches it.
Continuity mistake: When Sean is jumping across the floating magnetic rocks, as he jumps on the one that begins to flip him around twice, as he is flipped round the first time, it causes his small black utility belt (with the pocketknife and phone pouch) to fall off his waist, down into the abyss. In the following scenes moments later though, the same pouch/belt can be seen on his waist.
Factual error: The mountain guide seems to prefer SureFire flashlights, carrying an M6 Guardian. Later on, they find Max's camp in the centre of the Earth and the guide picks up another dirt-covered M6 that belonged to Max. Max went missing in 1997, 3-4 years before SureFire produced that light, so he couldn't have had one.

Continuity mistake: When walking in the subterranean world, Trevor holds and reads from the Jules Verne Book. It is completely dry, even though they have just been swimming. A wet book stays wet for a long time, and the pages stick tightly together. And yes - they were long enough in the water for the book to get wet - and no, it was not in a watertight container.

Continuity mistake: During the scene when Trevor comes home and listens to the messages on his answering machine, there are 4 messages from Sean's Mom. As Trevor is running around trying to clean up, he's listening to the messages. Only 3 messages are played and when the phone rings it says there are 0 messages.
Factual error: When Sean is crossing the chasm by jumping on the 'magnetic rocks', he jumps onto the edge of several of the rocks. Assuming that the rocks could actually float in the magnetic field as shown, standing on the edge of one of them would cause it to immediately flip.
Continuity mistake: When Sean first sees the 'magnetic rocks' forming a bridge across the chasm, there is a great distance between him and the other side, and about 20 floating rocks. When he starts to cross, the distance is now much shorter, and he only jumps on 6 or 7 rocks to get across.
