Revealing mistake: Near the end, as they approach LAX, the woman says there is nobody on the ground, that it's just the same as Bangor, but actually you can see a few cars moving on the ground.

Continuity mistake: When they take off from Bangor you see the landing gear retract, but in the next shot it's back down again.

Revealing mistake: Just before they land at Bangor airport we have two or three shots behind the pilot. I am not a hair dresser but I believe that you can see the difference between the real pilot's hair and the actor's.

Continuity mistake: The position of the plane on the runway and the distance it is from the terminal often changes, when Dinah looks at it through the glass, as Toomey runs around from the Langoliers, etc.

Visible crew/equipment: When it shows Toomey's father sitting down with a newspaper, as he gets up to shout at Craig, a boom mike is visible, above him. (01:06:35)

Revealing mistake: When the plane first lands at Bangor airport, the words 'American Pride' on the plane are reversed, like they are reflected in a mirror in one shot as its wheels hits the runway. (00:50:55)

Revealing mistake: When everyone goes up to the second floor on the escalator, behind them outside through the glass doors you can see people walking about. (01:09:10)

Suggested correction: I have rewatched this scene and saw no people.

Daniel Offerman

Continuity mistake: When Nick checks on Albert after he knocks out Craig, during a close-up of Albert you can see that he reaches his hand up to his face. In the very next shot his hand's on his lap again.

Continuity mistake: When the airport manager tells Brian his ex-wife died in a fire, they exit gate 54, but in the next shot, as they continue to walk down the terminal, it shows them exiting from gate 51. (00:05:00)

Continuity mistake: In the scene were the pilot among the survivors start to land for the first time, the plane starts to shake. The teenage girl is comforted by the teenage boy. In one shot the girl wears her black jacket, in the next shot she's only wearing her green sweater, but in later shots she wears her jacket again. (00:46:10)

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Albert hits mr Toomey, he falls to the ground out cold. If you look at the glass door to the right of Albert as he looks at mr Toomey on the floor you can see the reflection of a baggage car go past the door.

The Langoliers mistake picture

Revealing mistake: In the scene when they all have just arrived at Bangor when Bob Jenkins compares his watch with a clock (he looks if there are batteries inside) I'm not sure, but I guess one battery is reversed so that the clock is stopped. (01:01:45)

Factual error: After taking off from Bangor, the pilot pulls back on the flight control bringing the plane up to level flight. However, after taking off, a plane is "nose up" and would require pushing forward on the controls to bring the nose down to level. This is also evident by looking at the attitude indicator (circle with top half blue and bottom half brown). The white line indicates the horizon and you can watch the indicator show the plane's attitude coming from below horizon (nose down) to the horizon (level flight).

Continuity mistake: There is a scene where Laurel, Dinah, and Toomey are in the Cloud 9 restaurant and everyone else is out by the windows looking at the plane. The camera cuts from the group out by the windows - which includes Gaffney - immediately to a shot of the Cloud 9 restaurant sign. You can see Gaffney inside the restaurant through the sign. (01:29:45)

Factual error: When the airplane lands at LAX, the pilot indicates being out of fuel and is nearly unable to stop the airplane. However, the particular gate (54) where the airplane ends up at LAX would require a minimum of four stops and turns before getting there. Ending up at that particular point would not have been possible without power to taxi.

Continuity mistake: As they are going down through the clouds to Bangor, in the wide shot before Bethany faints on Albert. Bethany has vanished from the seat beside Albert. This is before she has fainted. (00:47:25)

Factual error: When initially investigating the missing people and the condition of the airplane, Brian looks at a screen that gives the airplane's transponder code (or "squawk") as 7777. An airliner would never be squawking that code, since this particular code is reserved for military interceptor operations.

Other mistake: In the scene where they are 1st landing at Bangor it is known that there is no electricity at the airport. If you look closely during the landing you will see that the runway lights are on. (00:50:40)

Craig Toomy: Oh I'm real scared now.

Question: Is there a reason why when they're in the past they can't catch up with the present, but when they land a little into the future, the present can catch up with them? Are they not moving along on their own timeline? And if not, why are they not left in that moment and stand there to see the present come and go without taking them?

Answer: Think of time as a gear with only one tooth, and think of them as a gear with only one notch. In the past, the one tooth has forever passed their notch and they'll never be carried along in the flow of time again. In the future, the tooth comes along, snags their notch, and they're back in the flow of time.
