Goldeneye

Revealing mistake: During the draining of the water in the dish, some shots show the water moving backwards. For instance, at a particular moment, masses of water jump UP, ark toward the opening, and fall in it. The most likely reason is that, during the filming, the special effects people took a shot of a replica of the dish FILLING with water, then edited it the other way, to show that the water was emptied from the dish. Revealing mistake: Whilst in Q's workshop, Bond places his envelope on Q's X-Ray Document scanner. If you pay close attention to the screen (it's easy to notice anyway) his flight ticket has got VOID written on it 4 times... (00:51:54)

Revealing mistake: When James Bond is cutting the floor of the train with his laser watch, there's a faint outline of some kind of explosives that creates the sparkles. (01:28:30)

Revealing mistake: When Trevelyan shoots with an automatic gun in the chemical weapon factory, there's some shots where the flame doesn't come from the gun itself. There's some device producing the flame beside it. (00:05:40)

Dr Wilson

Revealing mistake: In the scene containing Q describing the operation of the "grenade" pen to Bond, Q is not looking at Bond and appears to be being cued. With careful observation you can see Q's eyes reading the cards. Also, his actions/reactions do not seem fluid but abrupt as he reads to a point where he must do an action of some sort and he performs it suddenly. Much of the scene is shot from a profile view of Q and Bond so as to reduce the obviousness of it (mostly during the longer dialog pieces for Q). (00:49:30)

Revealing mistake: In the airfield outside the chemical weapon factory, James Bond hits a man with a motorcycle. He flies in the air before the impact and it's obviously a dummy. (00:08:40)

Revealing mistake: When the roof of the train opens so the helicopter can take off, it shakes a lot. It doesn't really look armored. (01:27:05)

Revealing mistake: In a close-up of Xenia rapelling down from the helicopter, you can see that Xenia is not Famke Janssen but a stunt double.

Revealing mistake: When Oumarov tells his driver to go left just after Bond has obtained the statue on his tank, there is a shot of the tank with Bond stood up driving. However, it is not Pierce Brosnan. (01:21:00)

Revealing mistake: When the tank first drives through the wall at the start of the chase, track marks are visible on the road ahead of it. (01:17:30)

Revealing mistake: At the beginning when Bond is chasing the plane on the motorbike, in the last shot of Bond from behind before he goes over the cliff, the background shot of the mountains is a painting. Not only can you see the square sections on the wall, but some parts of the painting don't even match. (00:09:25)

Revealing mistake: When Bond takes Xenia off the hot coals and throws her onto the floor in the sauna, you can see that "Xenia" is a dummy. (01:03:40)

Revealing mistake: As Bond is chasing the car in the tank, as he makes a right turn, and the skid marks of a previous take are seen on the pavement. (01:22:05)

Movie Nut

Revealing mistake: During the tank chase, there is an overhead shot of the tank sliding round a corner. In this shot you can see scars in the road from a previous take. (01:19:40)

Revealing mistake: In the opening scene when Bond is shown running up to the spot from where he will bungee jump, it is clearly not Pierce Brosnan but his stunt double. (00:01:05)

Revealing mistake: During the shot where Bond and Alec are emerging from the hallway floor in the dam compound, watch the left wall. As Bond bumps against it after pulling out his pistol, it visibly flexes inwards and pops back out. A concrete wall capable of supporting the weight of a dam with industrial-grade pipes wouldn't flex in like that; it's quite a thin wooden set made up as such. (00:04:25)

Revealing mistake: In the tank chase when the police cars and military jeeps crash on each other, just before the camera goes to view the tank, you can see the dummies in the police cars. (01:20:00)

Continuity mistake: When Bond and Natalia eject from the helicopter, you can clearly see two white parachutes, but when the capsule lands, in two scenes you see the parachutes being red and white. (01:12:20)

Alec Trevelyan: I might as well ask if all those vodka martinis silence the screams of all the men you've killed... Or if you've found forgiveness in the arms of all those willing women, for the dead ones you failed to protect?

Trivia: When Bond is playing baccarat with Xenia, his last hand, and only winning hand against her, is two face cards (a king and a queen if I remember correctly) and a six. In baccarat, face cards and tens are worth 0 and cards under ten are worth their number. So, his cards are, in order, 0-0-6, the code number of his lost friend, Alec Trevelyan (006).

Question: How did Alec survive being shot at the start only to return later in the film. It's something that I can't figure out, as James saw him get shot.

Chosen answer: The real answer, which I believe was explained better in the game or in special features. Regardless, I did hear, is that Ourumov wasn't aiming directly at Alec's head, but to the side and shot the ground behind him. But made it look like he shot him in the head. Alec would have felt the bullet whiz by him.

That makes more sense.

It has been a while since I watched the movie, and my copy is a VHS... but I believe if you watch very closely you can actually see the bullet hit the ground behind him with a tile breaking. I don't remember for sure if you can, but I seem to remember they did add that little effect.

Answer: He was shot with a blank cartridge. What that means is that the casing in the gun chamber didn't contain a live bullet; instead of killing him, the gun simply gave off a realistic flash that tricked Bond into thinking Alec had been shot. As explained later in the film, Alec's death was staged between himself and Ourumov.

Ourumov shot Alec and the Russian soldier with the same gun but, only the soldier was actually killed.

Wouldn't James know it was a blank round? Lack of blood for example?

Ssiscool Premium member

Answer: But what about the Russian soldier who was nervous and fired at the gas tanks, only to be shot by Ourumov? Did he fake his death too?

That's a valid point. Ourumov never reloaded.
