Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

Question: How could Roy crush Eddie's head with a leather strap? This seems so unrealistic, even for this series.

Answer: It's highly unlikely, but it's actually not impossible. It's really dependent on how tough the leather strap is. Some leather can contend with a few hundred newtons of force before breaking. And a minor fracture or crack to one of the thinner parts of the skull can occur with as little as 15-20 newtons of force. Depending on where the strap was placed, it's possible it could crush enough bone to critically, or even possibly fatally, injure someone before it would snap. Again, highly unlikely, but it's actually not a totally unbelievable death.

Question: Why doesn't Roy ever kill Vic? The last we see of him, he is sitting in the back of the police car. It seems odd that the person who actually killed Roy's son is allowed to live. Granted he is in police custody so it would be difficult for Roy to get to him, but I'm sure the filmmakers could have come up with some creative way to make it happen.

Answer: I think you answered your own question - Vic was in police custody. A regular coroner is likely not going to be able to kill someone who is being held for murder. Additionally, in a more meta behind-the-scenes sense, I would assume they also didn't show Vic getting killed because it could potentially be too much of a hint/hat-tip towards the killer's identity. We already saw the Roy the coroner disturbed by Joey's body, so having Joey's killer get murdered would probably give away the twist that Roy was the killer.

Question: Since Roy was Joey's biological father, how is this possible that he never tried to make any contact with his son? I mean, why didn't he even try to talk to him?

Answer: Several possibilities: 1 The mother requested he not make any contact, 2 They could've moved away, and he lost contact until then, 3 He may have been drafted into the army, and she could've divorced him during his time away and moved into whatever state this is located.

Answer: He simply just snapped. He definitely looked angry before Joey even started talking to him, and said how he hated being there...and he already had an axe in his hands...he just lost it, and took out his anger and frustration on Joey.

Answer: My theory is Vic was a diabetic and was acting in self-defense, since Joey just tried to kill him with a candy bar.

Your theory is obviously a joke.

Question: What is the song that Violet is always listening to on her Walkman? (We hear the beat 3 or 4 times throughout the movie).

Orlando Rocha

Answer: This is taken from IMDb: His Eyes by Pseudo Echo.

Alan Keddie

His Eyes is the song she was dancing to in her room, but she was listening to a different song earlier on her Walkman.

Plot hole: When the cop shows Pam the newspaper clippings they include what look to be fresh photos of the real Jason from the events of Part IV, yet no photographer is ever seen taking pictures of Jason alive in the previous films and most likely wouldn't live long enough to publish the photo. Trivia: A fan theory on Reddit suggest that Roy Burns was possessed by the spirit of Jason Voorhees. There is some credence to this theory considering that the murders Roy committed would require inhuman strength, he broke down a solid wooden door by just walking through it and when he got hit by a tractor, he got back up very quickly. How he got possessed by Jason however has never been explained.

Question: Is Tommy supposed to be the "next" Jason? I'm really confused by the ending.

Answer: Yes, originally Tommy was going to be the new Jason. But the makers decided to go in a different direction for part 6.
