John and Jane Smith find out each other's jobs after nearly killing each other in the desert while trying to kill the next mark, Ben "The Tank" Danz. After trying to kill each other after seeing their next assignment is each other, they realize they can't do it. After their 48 hrs to take out each other is up, they team up to get The Tank out of a jail and get information from him that they realize that their agencies sent them to the same hit to kill each other. They team up and fight their agencies off. They win and they go back to the marriage therapist in the beginning and tells him they are very happy!

Trivia: When John and Jane are questioning their former apparent target near the end of the film, look carefully at the guy's shirt - it's the logo from another Brad Pitt film, Fight Club.
Question: After John and Jane killed all those people, wouldn't their boss send more people after them? And why don't the Smiths fear/anticipate/react to this fact/possibility? Is it me or does it seem the only way they could have a happy ending is die or they have to kill the boss and destroy all their records (Which they would probably die trying).
