Factual error: In the penitentiary, the guards should be wearing a United States flag patch since it is a federal penitentiary, not the Texas flag patch. (00:08:45)

Suggested correction: Paul Crewe was arrested by local police and not charged with a Federal crime, therefore he would have been incarcerated in a State Prison, not a Federal Penitentiary.

But the prison is named Allenville Federal Penitentiary so they should be wearing American flag patches and not state patches.

If he was arrested in California by local cops, why would he be incarcerated in a Texas State Prison and not a California State Prison?

Bishop73

He was arrested by locals but under Federal probation for shaving points. He went to Federal prison for probation violation.

He violated his federal probation. He would have been initially charged by the local district attorney, but the feds would also charge him due to the probation violation, and the local charges would be dropped.

Other mistake: In the library scene, the guards are harassing the inmate by throwing books on the floor to make him pick them up.One of the guards drops a book on the floor to tell the inmate that he missed one but when he comes back to pick it up he actually picks up 3 books. (00:48:50)

Continuity mistake: When Paul Crewe is talking to the old guy that hit the Warden and he says "Oh s***, the Warden?", there is a guard up on a catwalk in the distance behind him, just turning around on the right side to head back to the left. Then the camera cuts to the old man ("Oh s*** is right,") and then back to Crewe, and the guard is suddenly at the other end of the catwalk. There is no way he could be there already. (00:29:40)

Continuity mistake: When the inmates step down from their van outside the stadium, the van parks against a wired fence and there is considerable amount of space to move around. When Crewe looks up to the sky with three choppers passing by, the van position is now parallel to the fence and there is only enough space for the inmates to line up. The scene then changes back to the previous position where the van faces the fence and the inmates have enough space to walk together instead of making a queue. (01:02:00)

Continuity mistake: When Caretaker opens the box with the cake, he tears the cake apart to get to the cleats. Later, after Meggett has the cleats, they show an inmate eating the cake and the border is on the cake, just the insides is gone.

Bonita Kilpatrick

Continuity mistake: When Crewe blocks Deacon's attempt to score game point, Deacon's sweat covers all the way to his shirt's sleeve. When Deacon calls the block as a foul, the sweat only covers up to his shoulder. In fact, throughout the one-on-one game between Crewe and Deacon, the shape of the sweat keeps changing. (00:35:00)

Continuity mistake: When the inmates' barren practice field is flooded, the grass that appears the next morning has at least several days' worth of growth. (00:53:50)

Continuity mistake: When Lambert bangs his head on a gym locker, the entry door next to that locker is wide open. When Crewe gives his pre-game speech to boost the morale of the inmates the door is now closed. (01:03:20)

Continuity mistake: When the inmates are loading the buses to go to the game, they get on that crappy school bus. But later it shows the two buses traveling to the field and no one is on the school bus. (01:18:35)

Continuity mistake: When the dishonest referee falls after getting thrown on his groin for the second time, he lies pretty close to a yard line. In the close up scene where Cheeseburger Eddy makes the McNuggets mockery, the umpire's knees actually touch that yard line. The position changes again in the panned scene where the referee rests midway between two yard lines and Crewe kneels to talk to him. When Crewe tries to warn the referee and give him the Wet Willie joke, the position returns to the similar one as the McNuggets scene. (01:13:55)

Audio problem: When Meggett flirts with the cheerleaders by saying, "Call me," his voice is heard before the video shows him uttering the words. (01:05:30)

Continuity mistake: The locker room used by the inmates changes between the pre-game and halftime. During the pre-game, the locker room they use is close to the field because the scene shows a lot of sunshine coming through the double-door entry with window panes. When the inmates take the halftime break, the walkway leading to the locker is quite dark and the entrance is only a single door with no window pane. The first time code is the scene from the pre-game and the second one is for the halftime. (01:02:40 - 01:21:45)

Continuity mistake: When Paul Crewe fakes the snap at the end of fourth quarter, the ball is hidden between the tips of an unidentified player's shoes (presumably the center). When the camera zooms in and the player moves away to let Nate Scarborough pick it, the ball is now closer to the knees of that player. (01:41:20)

Visible crew/equipment: When Paul re-groups with his teammates after he betrays them, the reflection of the reflector and camera can be seen on their helmet.

Factual error: Crewe was arrested by local police in Los Angeles but was sent to a prison in Texas.

Suggested correction: Allenville's Director ask for favors to get Crewe there. He explained this to Crewe when Crewe arrive Director's Office for the first time.

Revealing mistake: When Capt Knauer aims the gun at Crewe after the game it shows the barrel with a plug and a hole too small for an actual bullet to come out of.

Walt: Oh my god, he is deranged!

Trivia: At the end, when Adam Sandler is walking towards the gate out of the football field and the warden is telling the guard to shoot him, it's exactly the same scene from the 1974 Burt Reynolds version.

Suggested correction: This isn't trivia. There are multiple scenes in the remake that are also present in the original. This is just one of many.
