Sideways mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Miles pull up to the house to retrieve the wallet, one of the drapes is pulled back in the front window. When Miles walks up to the house, both drapes are drawn over the window.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Jack and Miles get out of the car at Miles' mother's house, Miles hands the flowers to Jack's right hand. The very next cut shows Jack carrying the flowers in his left hand.

Continuity mistake: When Jack first meets Maya and they are all having a drink at the bar, Maya is holding a cigarette. We can see she is holding the cigarette up near her face when the camera shows her from behind but is all of a sudden holding it near the bar counter in shots of her face. This continues until about halfway through the scene.

Continuity mistake: This is the scene where Miles, Stephanie and her mother are sitting at the table in the bowling alley. Stephanie's mom is smoking a cigarette; the scene cuts to Miles and back to Stephanie's mom. She is now holding an unlit cigarette in one hand and a lighter in the other about to light the cigarette. It once again cuts to Miles and you can see the smoke coming from her cigarette and Miles begins to cough.

Other mistake: During the scene when Miles is in the hotel room asleep while Jack is out with Stephanie, Christine calls Jack on his cell phone and then on the hotel phone. First disturbed and awakened by Jack's cell phone ringing, Miles gets up to check it to see who is calling. He sees that it is Christine calling, and then lays back down. The cell phone shows Christine calling and then IMMEDIATELY afterward, it says that there is a voicemail waiting. That certainly was an extremely short amount of time in which to leave a voicemail.

Continuity mistake: At the end of the scene where Miles freaks outs and runs through the vineyard he stops and gently stokes a grape bunch. You can easily tell that this is not from the first take as the dust on some of the grapes has already been wiped away.

Continuity mistake: In the scene in the hotel room, Miles is checking his voice mail, it says to enter the number and press the pound sign. He never presses the pound sign.

Suggested correction: Many phone services will generally continue regularly after asking for the pound sign to be entered even if the pound sign was not actually entered... it just delays a few extra seconds of the call.

Suggested correction: Already posted and corrected. The odometer isn't working. It's broken. It happens.

Audio problem: In the scene where Jack returns to the motel in the morning (after his first night with Stephanie), she's waiting for him on her motorcycle. When Jack goes back downstairs and gets on the back of the motorcycle, the sound effect is that of a revving bike engine, but you can see that Stephanie's right hand (the throttle hand) is not moving at all.

Other mistake: Miles' residence resembles apartments found in Mission Beach, which is north of San Diego Int'l Airport. In the scene he was allegedly heading home, driving south, but passed the turnoff.

Jack: Are you still seeing that shrink?
Miles Raymond: I saw him on Monday. I spent most of the time helping him with his computer.
Jack: Well, I say, fuck therapy. And what is that stuff you take... Xanax?
Miles Raymond: And Lexapro, yes.
Jack: Well, I say, fuck that too. You need to get your joint worked on, Miles.

Trivia: When Miles is stealing money from his mother he looks at the pictures on her dresser. One of the pictures is of Miles and his Dad. It is actually Miles real dad. Miles is played by Paul Giamatti and his dad is Bart Giamatti former Commissioner of Baseball. That is who is in the picture smiling with Miles.

Question: After Miles accidentally mentioned the rehearsal dinner to Maya, she asked him who's getting married and obviously (though not on camera), he told her Jack, thus starting a big fight with each other. Why did Miles tell her Jack instead of making up a random stranger he could say they knew since already slipping out info about the dinner? She would not have ever known, no fight would have taken place, and Jack would have saved face - literally.

Answer: Miles himself answers this question in the film. He tells Maya that he could have made something up, but chose to tell her the truth because he respected her and didn't want to lie.
