Continuity mistake: When Lucille throws the pills to Marv, he catches it with his left hand (while holding a cigarette in his right hand). The shot changes immediately to a close up on the pills in Marv's right hand. Then in the next shot Marv takes the pills, but has to take the cigarette out of his mouth first.

Continuity mistake: The blood on Marv's chin appears and disappears when he's being interrogated by Wendy and the girls.

Add time

Factual error: When Marv is talking with the Priest in the confessional, he cocks the hammer of his pistol as a means of interrogation. But in the next shot, the pistol is uncocked, without sufficient time for this to occur. In fact, the pistol is uncocked even when Marv shoots him. This cannot happen, since his pistol is a standard 1911 .45, which requires the hammer to be cocked in order to fire.

Revealing mistake: When dead Jackie Boy is talking to Dwight, you can see his normal neck under the fake slit-throat neck, and once or twice, you can even see a little device that was meant to shoot out smoke from a cigarette in the fake appliance.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When Marv is starting to dunk the man's head into the toilet, trying to get more information, you can see the rim of the toilet flex slightly from his weight.

Add time

Factual error: In the scene where Bruce Willis is confined in the hospital, where he is talking to young Nancy, a volume respirator can be heard, yet Willis is not intubated and no other paraphernalia are attached to his larynx and only intravenous lines are present.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Marv is interrogating the priest, in one of the cuts, his finger goes from being above the trigger, to being right on the trigger.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Marv and Wendy are driving to the farm to take out Goldie's killer, Marv is smoking a cigarette, and it's in his mouth, but when the camera cuts to a close up of their faces, the cigarette is in his hand.

Add time

Continuity mistake: The amount of cigarette burned up in the scene with Marv and Lucille in the bathroom, changes several times.

Add time

Continuity mistake: Dwight is tossed into the tar pits and submerged. In the next shot however, his head is back above the tar, and his face is fairly clean.

Add time

Continuity mistake: While Dwight is searching Jackie Boy's corpse, the blood around him changes once or twice. It goes from no blood, to some blood, to no blood, to a whole giant puddle full.

Add time

Revealing mistake: In some shots towards the end when it's snowing, you can see the snow (computer generated) simply disappear, especially in over-head shots. It isn't hitting the ground, it just disappears.

Revealing mistake: When Miho plugs the barrel, Jackie boy tries to fire, but when he does, the slide fires into his skull area. Notice that the barrel is larger in front. If that slide was straight, then o.k. But, the head of the barrel is larger at the far end (business end). It is not possible for the larger end to pass through the rest of the gun (focus on the bottom part) without every part of the gun disintegrating.

Continuity mistake: When the female Irish assassin sees Jackie Boy's dead body, in the first shot she is starting to grab the window of the car, but in the next shot, her hand is no longer holding onto it.

Add time

Continuity mistake: The amount of blood spewing from Jackie Boy's arm, after his hand is cut off, changes between shots, just before Miho kills his friends.

Add time

Continuity mistake: After Jackie has sat down on the swastika-formed throwing weapon, he is shown crawling on the ground. The swastika is then shown sticking out of his buttock in a horizontal position to his thigh. When he is leaning against the trash can, the swastika is shown again, but this time it sticks out pointing downwards (in relation to his thigh), at a 90 degree angle from it's original position. The points on the blade would have kept it from twisting in the wound, and Jackie did no movements that would cause it to twist.

Continuity mistake: When Yellow Bastards "weapon" is taken away, the position of his head changes between several shots. He goes from looking at Hartigan to leaning back screaming between some of the shots.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Lucille says: "Settle down Marv, take another pill" her head goes from being slanted in the previous shot to being straight up.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Yellow Bastard is giving his "Recognize my voice?" speech, whilst pinning Hartigan's face to the floor with his foot, you can tell from his eye line in the first shot that he is a fair distance from Hartigan, nowhere near close enough to have his foot pressed into his face. Yet in the next shot, the foot is in frame, pressing Hartigan's face, as though Yellow Bastard is standing right next to him.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Marv jumps off the top floor of the hotel and grabs onto a rail and then jumps over it to dodge the bullets, if you watch closely, when he lands you can see that the shot is actually made out of two separate shots blended together. Watch carefully as he leans forward after the land, he's closer to the camera in the second shot and his movement is not perfectly synced to the previous one.

00:14:50

Continuity mistake: When Hartigan is being beaten before going to jail, there is a close-up of his face. There is a five-inch long, one-inch wide rip in his right cheek. Even though he has scars already on his forehead, this damage just disappears afterward.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Yellow Bastard is holding Nancy inside the farm, squaring off with Hartigan, the arm holding the knife keeps changing its distance from Nancy, shot to shot.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Manute grabs Gail from behind, the table next to her and the phone in her hand suddenly disappear.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Marv pulls back the top of "Gladys" (his gun) in his old bedroom, the top is suddenly shut in the next shot. (Extended Edition DVD).

Add time

Continuity mistake: In the bathroom scene, as Marv stands up, Lucille's arm (holding the cigarette) goes from pointed up in the air to being down by her side, between shots.

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Michael Clarke Duncan has Rosario Dawson tied to the chair, in one shot her left earring is tied next to her neck with the rope holding her to the chair, but in the next shot, the earring is hanging free. The shape of the earring prevents it from simply being pulled from the rope because of how rigid it is.

Revealing mistake: When you see characters in closeups when it is snowing, no snow ever lands on them, because it's all digital.

Deadman63

Continuity mistake: When the girls are searching the dead bodies after Jackie Boy is killed, the position of the girls in the background changes between shots. Specifically, the character Dallas, who goes from kneeling down to standing between several shots.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Marv first meets Lucille, as he pours the pills into his mouth, the cigarette he has goes from having no smoke around it, to a large cloud between cuts.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When Jackie Boy's hand is chopped off, you can see some of the blood flying out is CGI and appears to be "flat" and doesn't quite match in with the rest of the shot.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Dwight and Gail are talking just before the attack on Jackie-Boy, the wind is either blowing strongly enough to move her earrings, or not blowing at all, depending on the shot. The changes correspond precisely with the shot changes - it's not just random gusting.

Add time

Deadman63

Continuity mistake: The amount of smoke in the air during the scene with Marv and Lucille in the bathroom changes several times between cuts.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Lucille takes Marv's cigarette in the first scene, she exhales smoke in one shot without taking a puff from the cigarette.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Jackie Boy is picking up his gun after having his hand cut off, all the carnage and blood that occurred behind him (Miho slicing up his buddies) almost entirely disappears. The only sign of it happening is the body of the decapitated man in one shot. Then everything seems to disappear for several minutes.

Audio problem: When Bruce Willis is in hospital with an IV and nasal oxygen, we can hear the sounds of a respirator - the air going in, the respirator filling with air - but no respirator is present, and Bruce isn't sharing his room with someone else.

Audio problem: When Dwight deduces that there is a spy among the girls in Old Town, there is a noticeable shift in the audio when he says "But first we gotta get our hands on Jackie Boy's head before it gets to wherever it's going and this whole situation blows wide open." The last three words of the line sound like they were re-dubbed.

Plot hole: At the end, Hartigan races out to the Roark Farm to save Nancy, where he takes out two guards quietly, with a switchblade knife. As he dispatches the second guard, we see the ruthless cannibal killer Kevin just yards away, inside the house, reading. Hartigan then makes a blunder, starts rushing, and he is shot by a third guard. Hartigan kills the third and a fourth guard with two handgun shots. Obvious question: With three gunshots in rapid succession just outside the remote house, why didn't the hyper-alert and agile Kevin come out and rip Hartigan to shreds? No, the generic contention that "Kevin wasn't concerned with Roark's son" is not an answer. When Marv infiltrated and attacked the Roark compound (twice), Kevin immediately engaged Marv. In both instances, Kevin responded to attacks on the compound without even knowing who was attacking. But Kevin completely ignores Hartigan's attack, which seems like a plot hole.

Continuity mistake: After Miho saves Dwight from the tar pit, During this scene Miho is black and white, but in Dwights first closeup you can see Miho's head in the background, her skin is tan/brown color. This was due to special effects changes as originally Miho's skin was colored in that scene and in that shot they forgot to change it.

Continuity mistake: Rosario Dawson's earrings are the pierced kind when she's tied to the chair by the mob. After they exchange her for the cop's head, the earrings are clip-ons.

Revealing mistake: When Hartigan is talking to Shellie the waitress, asking about Nancy, you can tell that the bottles of beer are glued or otherwise fastened to Shellie's tray, because she tilts the tray enough to tip the bottles over several times, and you can see the liquid inside them tilt as well, but the bottles stay put.

Trivia

Because everything was shot against a green screen, some bits of colour proved difficult. Yellow Bastard especially was hard, as yellow bleeds into the green screen and can't be separated cleanly. To get around this, Robert Rodriguez painted him blue, then turned him yellow in post production.
