Continuity mistake: When The Bride gets into the Pussy Wagon and tries to move her toes, the shot changes between one taken from her head and one taken from her feet. The one taken from her head shows her two feet touching one another and resting against the closed door. The one taken from her feet (which would have necessitated the door being open) shows her two feet not resting on anything and slightly apart from one another.
Revealing mistake: When the swordmaker writes "Bill" on the window, take a close look. The window has been wiped before (as happens at the end of the scene) and "re-steamed" - you can see the outlines of the wiping from earlier takes, with a clear contrast between that pane and the others.
Continuity mistake: When we see the Bride in the "House of Blue Leaves", her hair is considerably longer than when it was while she was walking through the Tokyo airport. Since we see from time to time in the movie, the notations "one month later," or "4 years later," and there was nothing like that in the sequence, it seems that the Brides' hair grew at least 4 inches from the time she left the airport until the time she gets to the restaurant.
Continuity mistake: When Vernita Green takes her daughter's picture from the notice board in the kitchen she holds it at the top left corner when the camera is behind her. The shot changes to in front of her and she holds it by the bottom left corner, the shot moves behind her again and she holds it by the top left corner.
Continuity mistake: When O-Ren chops off boss Tanaka's head, the head falls in front of Sophie and another member. Then, when O-Ren finishes her speech, she holds up Tanaka's head. This can not be possible, because she has not moved from where she was standing during the speech.
01:00:20 - 01:01:30
Continuity mistake: When Vernita and The Bride are talking in the kitchen and Vernita shoots The Bride from the cereal box, you can see the bullet hole in the back wall of the kitchen, but then a little later that part of the wall doesn't have any bullet holes. Also, not only is the bullet hole not where you see it hit in the first place, it's on the other side of the bride's head, along with the splatter from the cereal box.
Revealing mistake: When the Bride is fighting the General of the Crazy 88's he slashes at her lower torso and scores a hit, but the slash on the Bride's jacket is already there before he strikes (it is not there in the previous scenes and when he slashes it makes the sound of him cutting the material).
Continuity mistake: The table that Gogo falls on after hitting herself with the mace gets splintered into pieces, with debris underneath and all around where she lies on her back, especially in the area below her feet. Yet in the next shot when the Bride jumps down to resume her attack from above, there is no sign of the debris on the floor.
Continuity mistake: When The Bride is about to pick a sword from the rack she is about to pick a sword with a red shaft. Then Hanzo says tells her to pick another one from the same rack. When it cuts we can see that the sword with the red shaft is out of sight. Later we see that particular sword is on a low level of the shaft, but when we saw The Bride reaching for it it was obvious she wasn't bending down to get it. So the sword has moved lower on the shaft by itself.
Continuity mistake: During the fight in the restaurant, the Bride is surrounded by a large group of Yakuza. In a shot from behind her, she is staring at the opponents in front of her over the edge of her horizontally held blade. One of the masked villains is swinging a chain in an arc. A moment later the shot cuts to an overhead and the guy with the chain has disappeared - everyone in front of the bride (as well as to the rear and sides) are holding swords.
Continuity mistake: When Hatori Hanzo is talking to the bride, he calls for his assistant several times. At one point, he gets really mad and throws his knife unto the magnetic strips on the wall behind him and sticks on almost vertically. In the next few shots, the knife is positioned in different angles.
00:47:50 - 00:49:10
Continuity mistake: This error only occurs in the Japan version: Here, the little boy (the only one who doesn't wear a mask) "The Bride" fights before confronting the head general of the Crazy 88 had already fought against her in the middle of the battle with the rest of the gang. In that short fight she cut his mask off (explanation why he doesn't wear it at the end), realised he was only a child and then instead of killing him threw him into one of the pools. You actually see him falling into the water. But at the end when they meet again, he is completely dry (except for his sweat).
Continuity mistake: In the fight scene with Vernita Green when she and the Bride are staring each other down as the school bus pulls up Vernita is holding the knife horizontally with her index finger along the top. The angle of the scene changes and she is holding the knife in the opposite way. When the scene changes back her finger is along the top again.
Continuity mistake: When O-ren chops of Boss Tanaka's head, the head is going in the direction of the boss to the left of Boss Tanaka. It is already on its way down and at eye level before the shot changes. The next shot we see the reaction of that boss and the other bosses but the head is no where in the shot. The head then reappears in the next shot and lands in front of him.
Continuity mistake: After Black Mamba leaves Vernita's house, she looks at the "Death List Five" notebook page and crosses off Vernita's name. The handwriting on this page (sloppy) differs greatly from that of the list written on the plane (neat) after killing O-Ren Ishii, which is supposed to be the original list. Even if she re-wrote the list, the handwriting wouldn't have changed THAT much. It is a different person's handwriting and not just a difference between sanity and madness.
00:15:40 - 01:41:50
Continuity mistake: When O-Ren Ishii beheads Boss Tanaka, the bald boss sitting next to Tanaka alternates between holding a fan and not. After Tanaka's head is chopped off, there's a quick shot to bald boss to see his reaction, and he's holding a fan. When the shot goes back to him a second time, the fan is gone.
Continuity mistake: The Bride kills Vernita in the kitchen then pulls out the knife. When Vernita's daughter enters the kitchen there is a front shot of The Bride holding the knife behind her, hiding it from the child. The camera switches to a reverse angle and The Bride is holding the knife in front of her, in full view of the child.
Continuity mistake: During the fight at Venita's house, she overturns a large shelving unit onto the Bride. A shot from the floor (behind the Bride's head) shows nothing on the floor to the right. As the shelving begins to fall, a basket of magazines suddenly appears and the left edge of the unit is seen falling to the outside of the basket. A moment later Venita bolts for the kitchen and the shot cuts back to the Bride. The basket is now outside the edge of the unit (and some of the shelves themselves have disappeared as well).
Deliberate mistake: When the Crazy 88 crew is coming in to attack the bride they use one of the shots twice. It is the one that shows 1 guy jump over a banister and go to the left of the screen then another guy comes directly after him and heads directly towards the camera. It happens at 1:21:49 and 1:21:53.
Continuity mistake: During the "The Man from Okinawa" chapter, The Bride picks up a sword from one of the racks on the wall. She slides the sword out from its scabbard approx. 4 inches and stops. The next shot shows the reflection of her eyes in the blade. In the third shot, we see a wider view of The Bride again but now the scabbard is much farther out than where it used to be.
Other mistake: In the anime scene, after the two men empty their magazines onto the back of Matsumoto, from under the bed, O-Ren shoots the leg of the guy wearing brown, then blasts his head. Then she fires a third shot that hits a brown leg, but the guy wearing blue falls instead.
00:41:55 - 00:42:40
Continuity mistake: When the bride is holding a table, GoGo throws the mace ball at it. She then pulls the mace ball back through it. The table splits in two. The piece of table that falls at the bottom of the screen, the bride's right hand side, falls completely apart. The legs have broken away from the table top. In the next shot this piece of table is standing on end with the legs reattached.
Continuity mistake: When O-Ren takes off her sandals to fight the bride she pushes her right sandal out from under her. It slides on top of the snow and does not push around a lot of snow. No snow collects around it. In the next shot when she takes off her left sandal, the right sandal now has a lot of snow that was pushed up around the side of the sandal and collected beside it. It is also sunk much deeper into the snow than in the previous shot.
Continuity mistake: As Earl McGraw tells his Son Number One the massacre at Two Pines house of worship must have been "the work of a salty dog," he gingerly moves in for a closer look at the carnage. Even though the side shot maintains a close view on the upper half of the body, the posture of his movements indicates that he starts stepping forward with his right leg. Yet in the immediate next shot from behind, it is with his left leg that he makes his advance.
Continuity mistake: When O-Ren's young bodyguard has the mace, she hits the Bride smack in the chest more than once with the very heavy, spiked ball. But later, there is not a trace of a welt, bruise, or cut on the Bride's chest (plenty of blood on her half-zipped jacket but her skin is just fine.)
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the fight between Oren and the Bride in the garden, Oren puts the sword up to eye level and starts to withdraw the blade from the scabbard. The shot switches to a view from behind her and we see the back of her head. The eye-level sword, however, is nowhere to be seen. When the shot switches back to Oren's face, the sword has reappeared.
Continuity mistake: When The Bride and Vernita Green are in the kitchen, Vernita mentions something like "I've got to fix my daughter's cereal." Notice when she says this, The Bride is holding her mug with the handle facing Vernita, when the shot changes, it is instantly facing The Bride - something which cannot be achieved this quickly.

Factual error: In the beginning of the anime sequence we see O-Ren's father from behind, along with his Army rank on his left shoulder. The rank in the movie has two chevrons on top (the upside down "V"s), three "rockers" on the bottom (the bowl shapes) and a star in the middle. The real Army rank of Sergeant Major has three chevrons on top - no rank except corporal has only two chevrons, and corporals have no rockers or other insignia.
Factual error: Near the end of the anime sequence when O-Ren murders the crime boss, there's a shot of the wall/ceiling behind her as she pulls the sword out of his stomach and you see the outline of O-Ren in the blood on the wall. In the next shot of O-Ren's face and body she only has minimal amounts of blood on her. Considering there was enough blood spraying out that you can see her outline on the wall behind her, shouldn't the front of her be covered in the blood as well?
Continuity mistake: When The Bride is fighting the Crazy 88s, right after it changes from black/white screen to color again, they fight in a room where the light gets shut off. Now watch close, they wait. They fight. She hits a few members of the gang. Watch the gangster in the lower left corner of your screen. He's gone. He rolls away to the left. They start fighting again. Keep paying attention to the lower left corner. You see him roll away again a few seconds later.
