Plot hole: When Saxby tells Blofeld to watch Peter Franks on the CCTV, Blofeld would have recognised him as James Bond. Why does Blofeld keep quiet about it? What possible use could he have for catching, rather than killing, Bond? (00:38:34)
Other mistake: When the car chase starts in Vegas in a close up of the two policeman chasing them the driver is wearing sunglasses and the background is badly dubbed. Silly thing to wear when it's nighttime.
Audio problem: Peter Franks drives a Triumph Stag, which used a 3 litre V8 engine and had a very fruity exhaust note. Unfortunately this was dubbed over with a rather weedy 4 cylinder engine sound.
Continuity mistake: When Bond and Tiffany are having their dinner on the cruise liner, Bond makes comments about the wine and you can see behind him there is a liquor bottle on the food cart with a large white label facing the camera. When Bond is being strangled by Mr Wint and reaches for the bottle to smash and throw the contents at Mr Kidd, the bottle is turned and the label is facing away from the camera.
Plot hole: Glass or paste stones would have melted during Franks' cremation. But we're supposed to believe they ended up in the urn. (00:33:38)
Continuity mistake: In the opening scene Bond smashes the giant light on top of Blofield and he falls across the table, but in the very next scene when Bond fastens the strap, Blofield is lying horizontal to it. This is a continuous scene.
Plot hole: Other than giving Bond and Whyte the idea that Blofeld must be hiding out on the oil rig platform, there's no reason as far as Blofeld is concerned to have the oil rig on the map in the penthouse. Nobody other than Blofeld or Whyte knew about the map until Bond enter the penthouse, so it made no sense for Blofeld to have Baja, CA on the map.
Plot hole: When Bond arrives at the oil rig he is in a silver sphere with no windows, but he somehow knows which direction to go in. Not only that, the parachutes completely disappear.
Continuity mistake: Before Q explains how the electromagnetic ring works with the slot machines there's a close-up shot of the coins falling. His jacket is nowhere to be seen despite him being right next to the machine.
Continuity mistake: When Tiffany is about to grab Frank's wallet his shirt is covered in foam. When she reaches out for it the foam is gone and his shirt is wet.
Revealing mistake: After a policeman touches Mrs. Whistler's corpse's face she winces.
Continuity mistake: In the Whyte House casino Q plays with the slot machine with his left hand placed on it. In the close-up his hand is gone. (01:30:30)
Continuity mistake: In the dentist office the cap on the bottle of pills is loose, a shot later it's closed tight and yet a shot later it's missing. (00:10:20)
Revealing mistake: When Bond pushes the Blofeld look alike into the mud pit his feet have a natural position, the tip resting on the stretcher. Couple shots later, when his body is submerged and just the feet are visible, they are skewed awkwardly to the side as if the ankles were broken, revealing he's been replaced by a dummy.
Continuity mistake: When the movie begins Bond chokes a girl with her bikini, light side of the fabric facing camera. A shot later it's the dark side facing.
Continuity mistake: When Bond is having his chase through Las Vegas with all the police there are several shots of the casino clocks in the background. At one point the time goes from 1:30 to almost 4 o'clock in just a few minutes.
Continuity mistake: When Bond is speaking to Tiffany by the swimming pool, he puts one arm into his jacket, but when the camera is behind Bond in the next shot, the jacket is now completely on.
Continuity mistake: When Bond first drives off in the moon buggy the wheels have silver hubcaps on them, but when he crashes through the wall and goes outside, the centres of the wheels are completely different.
Revealing mistake: When the orbiting satellite blows up the missile in North Dakota you can see the scientists nearby move freeze in motion.
Other mistake: When James Bond startles the cat to see which Blofeld it would leap towards to get the correct one, we see it leap to the left. The problem is that the Blofeld the cat leapt at was sitting to the right.
Chosen answer: Blofeld and Spectre has enough diamonds for the laser he is building to hold the Earth hostage. In typical Spectre fashion, since he is finished with the operation, he wants to leave no loose ends that could tie Spectre into the mix.
