Continuity mistake: Just after hearing about Charlie being shot at, Hank takes off to find a way to his partner. He shoots a window and jumps through it, landing on a U-Haul truck. As he does, there are hundreds of glass pieces falling with him like a shower onto the truck. It cuts to him rolling off the front of the truck, but you see no evidence of the glass that was falling with him. And then the next shot shows him hit the ground, and now there is glass there where it would have fallen off the truck. (00:04:10)

Continuity mistake: In the beginning scene, the thieves are pouring what appears to be liquid nitrogen on a lock. The camera slowly pans down as the liquid is splashing over it and you see steam bellowing away. The very instant the hammer comes on screen, you can tell it is a jump cut because suddenly the liquid just vanishes without a stop, and the steam is suddenly gone also. (00:00:45)

Continuity mistake: While in the back seat of the red station wagon, you can see a car coming up on the driver side of the vehicle about to pass them. Hank tells Earl to shut the hell up and it cuts to the driver who tells them not to use that language. The car that was about to pass them never does, it just vanishes. (00:58:55)

Continuity mistake: While fighting for control of the vehicle, Hank and Earl lose control of the Driver's Ed car and plow through various obstacles. One shot shows them bust through a wooden fence. In the middle of that shot, you see the car's wheels stop turning while they are in mid air. Two shots later, before they hit the ground, both sets of wheels are spinning again. (00:40:00)

Continuity mistake: When Earl and Nash are fighting over the cliff, Nash tries to smash Earl's head by throwing a large concrete block at him. It sits there afterwards. You never see this block again in the spot they were fighting, not even when Hank drops the crane hook on the slab and launches Nash off it. The block should have been seen flying also. (01:18:45)

Continuity mistake: After their tire is shot out, the van crashes through a big window. In the shot of it breaking through, you can see the van's headlights are off. Two shots later as it lands on its side and slides, one of the headlights is now on, and slowly fades off. (01:15:15)

Continuity mistake: During the old fort shoot out, Hank, Earl, and Washington are driving off in the white van. One of the S.W.A.T. team guys shoots their front right tire and it goes flat. The van then crashes through a big dirty window and lands on its side. Now the front right tire is no longer damaged. (01:15:10)

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn are in the red station wagon that Steve Zahn was unable to commandeer and was slapped silly for, they drive by a glass building and you see the camera crew and equipment on a platform in front of the vehicle, moving with them. Instructor: Impressive shooting, Montgomery. You realize though, that you missed the target in the middle?
Earl Montgomery: Who, the brother? Oh I wasn't shooting at him.
Instructor: Mind telling me why not?
Earl Montgomery: He don't look suspicious, to me. Look at'em. One lone brother, surrounded by four white guys with guns? The man is terrified. What you want him to do, tap dance? Don't worry brother, I got you. Don't be afraid to dial 911. I keeps it clean, when Earl Montgomery's on the scene. What the problem is?

Trivia: It just so happened that on a day when they needed a wide angle lens to get a shot, for the over head view of Hank shooting through the wall at Nash, that the Spider-Man movie was being filmed only a few blocks away. The director of Spider-Man let the director of National Security borrow their lens long enough to get that shot, which was on screen for only about a second. (01:04:55)
