Continuity mistake: After the argument in the coffee room following the stapler fight you can see that, when Hugh leaves, the stapler is by the coffee pot next to where Hugh was standing, although Sandra had already taken it to the other side of the counter (where you also see it in the last shot of the scene).
Continuity mistake: When Lucy is pushing the elevator button to George's penthouse in her bridesmaid dress, she's wearing only one glove. When she's in his closet helping him pick out clothes and giving her 'two weeks notice', she's still only wearing one glove, but now it's on the other hand.
Continuity mistake: When up on the roof eating cake, it focuses on Lucy speaking. In one shot she lowers her fork to her plate, then she raises her hand to her face quickly. But then in the next shot her hand is down by her plate and she once again raises her hand, now holding her fork.
Continuity mistake: When Hugh Grant and Alicia Witt are in the elevator with the elderly couple, they elevator stops to let Alicia off, but Hugh pulls her back on. The elevator supposedly continues on up to Hugh's apartment, but it never moves. You can see it moving BEFORE the first stop, but never again.
Continuity mistake: When Hugh Grant is visiting his brother, after he tells him they are tearing down the community center, the brother changes into his pyjamas. He puts on the pyjama top and it is unbuttoned, then the camera changes to Hugh Grant, then goes back to the brother within a few seconds. When it goes back the buttons are done up.
Continuity mistake: When Lucy and her parents are talking on the street, Lucy says "Wait a minute, our community centre! My community centre!" When and after she says this, the Forbes magazine she has goes from being under her arm, to in her left hand, then into her right hand between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Hugh and Sandra are stuck together in the toilet, as David Haig walks in Hugh turns around, and Sandra's head is to the right of his leg, so from the other side we should see her face quite from the other angle. However, when we switch to that view, her head's hidden completely behind his crotch, making it look far more dodgy.

Continuity mistake: After the stapler fight, George and Lucy are talking in the coffee room, and they switch sides. After they switch, the coffee pot next to George keeps changing places, sometimes it's really close to the edge of the counter, other times it's further away.
Continuity mistake: When Lucy meets George for the first time she is wearing a transparent blouse which is tied with a string at the neck. While they talk outside the blouse is closed and the knot is in the middle, but when she enters his car the blouse is open and the knot is shifted to the left. A similar thing happens in the following scene when she is sitting on a railing, looking at the community center, and her blouse closes between shots.
Factual error: When Bullock and Grant are stuck in traffic they are on the ramp of the upper level of the Queensboro bridge. No trucks are allowed on the upper level of this bridge, so the RV, the truck behind the RV (the one with the two guys who are looking in the bathroom window), and the other trucks that are stuck in traffic on this ramp would not, in reality, be allowed there.
Continuity mistake: When Sandra is helping Hugh shop for clothes, she has clothes draped over her left arm while trying to fix the mannequin she has broken. She gets frustrated by what Hugh says and stalks out of the store. The clothing she had been holding is gone; we never see her drop or throw the pieces down.
Audio problem: At the divorce hearing, Lucy gets water thrown at her and turns around stating repeatedly, "Water up my nose.". When she says that, her mouth/jaw doesn't move at all. That is not due to her being turned away from the camera, as just after, while she says something else, her mouth/jaw *can* be seen moving.
Continuity mistake: When George and Lucy are on the boat, after Lucy almost falls down the steps, they are standing at a table. When they both go to walk to the end of the boat, Lucy picks up her wine glass. When she gets to the end of the boat, it is gone. She couldn't have put it down because when the shot widens, it isn't on the table in front of them.
Continuity mistake: During the baseball game scene, Sandra blocks Mike Piazza from getting the ball, and everyone around her gets mad. You can see the girl behind her and everyone else around sitting down, but in the next shot it shows Sandra on the big screen, and everyone is standing up again.
Other mistake: Alicia Witt's character is introduced as June CARVER, but at the film's end titles (and also on the DVD's cast list screen) she is billed as June CARTER. On the audio commentary, writer Marc Lawrence explained the name change... but it seems that he forgot to let the titling people know.
Continuity mistake: After the tennis match a girl offers Lucy a cookie. When Lucy picks one you see her hand reaching for the cookie on different sides of the bowl in different shots (it's supposed to be one move). She takes a bite, but in the next shot the cookie is whole again.
Continuity mistake: Near the end, when Lucy is in her work place, George comes in and gives his speech, then leaves. Lucy starts crying heavily and runs out, but then once she's outside, she isn't crying at all, her face is completely dry. Then she starts crying as she's looking down the street.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where they are driving after the tennis match, they are driving through town. You see buildings pass by. Then you see a shot where the car goes up a ramp and onto the Queensboro bridge. In the next shot, they are again driving through town with buildings on either side. Also, a UPS truck keeps appearing and disappearing behind them.
Continuity mistake: When Lucy goes to George's penthouse while June is there playing strip chess, June is in the kitchen getting two beers out of the refrigerator. She is surprised to turn around and see Lucy and the door gets left open. George, Lucy and June have a conversation, towards the end of which the door somehow now closed even though nobody has made a move to shut it.
Continuity mistake: When Lucy and George are on the roof and Lucy is talking about what it was like growing up there, there are some high angle point-of-view shots of people on the street below. In these shots, the sun is shining and everyone has a dark shadow. But up on the roof, the sky is completely overcast, and there are no shadows anywhere.
