Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard and Mr. Green put Mr. Boddy's body on the sofa, Mr. Boddy changes position when Colonel Mustard goes to close his eyes.

Add time

Casual Person

Deliberate mistake: The same footage of Ms. Scarlet screaming when the cook falls out of the freezer is used when Wadsworth falls out of the freezer. (Note the cigarette.)

Add time

Other mistake: In one of the first scenes in the study, Mr. Boddy hands each guest a weapon and then proceeds to turn out the lights. The room is thrown into complete darkness. Unfortunately, there is a roaring fire in the fireplace that would have illuminated the room enough for everyone to see what was going on.

Add time

Visible crew/equipment: Towards the end of the film, when the butler is explaining 'whodunit', as he stands at the front door, quite clearly at the top of the screen a microphone can be seen following him back and forth.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When everyone is in the Library, you can see the matches in a cup on the left of the fireplace. When Professor Plum says, "Wait a minute, suppose that one of us is the murderer," you can also see that the matches are in a "V" shape. When Wadsworth walks towards them to pull the matches out, most of them are all leaning to the left side of the cup. As the movie goes on, when the cop gets locked up in the Library for the second time, the same amount of matches are in the holding cup as if Wadsworth did not pull them out and they are in a straight line. (Third time code 1:02:40).

James R P

Revealing mistake: After they find Mr. Boddy's body in the bathroom, Wadsworth starts shouting. A candlestick then falls and hits him on the head. Look at the candlestick when it falls: you can tell it was pulled by a string or something.

Add time

Factual error: When the evangelist first enters the mansion, Mrs. Peacock calls him a beatnik. However, the movie is set in 1954, and the word "beatnik" was not coined until 1958.

Revealing mistake: When the cook's body is lowered to the kitchen floor, you can see her move her outstretched arm closer to her head.

Add time

Audio problem: When they are putting the Cook's body on the sofa, Wadsworth walks by in the background and says "Careful, don't get blood on the sofa" however his mouth doesn't move.

Add time

Other mistake: When a gloved hand tosses an envelope's contents into the fire, most of the papers miss the fire completely.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When the Armageddon guy comes to the door, Mrs. Peacock slams the door in his face, and the flier he was holding flutters out of his hand and lands on the floor. In the next shot, the flier disappears.

Continuity mistake: When they enter the kitchen to check on the cook, a pot on the stove disappears and reappears.

Visible crew/equipment: After opening the doors to the lounge to let Col. Mustard and Miss Scarlet out Mrs. White says "How did you get in? The doors were locked." After this line, for the remainder of the scene, on the left side of the wall beside the chair the reflection of a crew member and the boom mic pole can be seen moving around.

Add time

Revealing mistake: In the hallway, the camera pulls back from the dining room towards the front door. The camera pulls back too far, and on the floor masking tape and a different type of wood can be seen, indicating where the set stops.

Add time

Other mistake: When Mrs. White enters the house, she takes off a black and white cape so she now is wearing a light coat over her dress. There is a point at which she is about to take off the coat, and with the camera angle change, she has it in her hand.

Add time

Other mistake: In the study, when Wadsworth says that Mr. Boddy is the one that's blackmailing everyone, Colonel Mustard and Mr. Boddy get in a fight. Mr. Boddy pokes Colonel Mustard in the eyes. You can tell that he stops his fingers right in front of Mustard's eyes. Less than a second later, Colonel Mustard falls over.

Clue mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When everyone is searching upstairs and Miss Scarlet and Colonel Mustard start screaming, they all come running down. Yvette has on flat black shoes, but right after the running shot is over she is back in heels.

Add time

Continuity mistake: After Mrs Peacock turns the lights back on in the study, she drops the dagger where she is standing, by the door. A few moments later when she is screaming about the 'poisoned' brandy, the dagger is no longer there. That area of the floor can be viewed as Mr Green is calming her down and the dagger is nowhere to be seen. This is explained in one ending, as Yvette crept in and stole the dagger in between time. However using the real ending (i.e. the one where the title card reads 'Here's how it REALLY happened') then this is a massive goof, particularly as Mrs Peacock is supposed to kill the cook with the dagger in a few moments time.

Add time

Clue mistake picture

Continuity mistake: After Mrs. Peacock says "Mmm, this is one of my favorite recipes" each time the camera angle changes at the table her fur boa changes from up to down for a few shots.

Add time

Clue mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When they reach the study with the dead cook's body, they stop before entering and drop her half-way into the room. They proceed to look for Mr. Boddy in the room and file into the Study one at a time. In the same camera angle you see everyone entering the study including Miss Scarlet, then Yvette, then Mrs. White. Then the camera angle changes and in comes Scarlet, White and then Yvette.

Add time

Audio problem: In the scene where everyone gangs up on Mr. Boddy, the audio doesn't match much of the action going on.

Continuity mistake: When Miss Scarlet's car breaks down on the way to the manor, she gets a ride from Professor Plum. He turns the windshield wipers on and starts to drive away. When it shows the car driving away, you can see the windshield wipers aren't moving anymore.

Add time

Audio problem: After the lights were shut off, when Yvette is running down the stairs, you can still hear Mrs. White screaming about the window upstairs. If the the third ending is true, then how could she have gotten to the Library before Yvette?

xx:xx:xx

NumberZero21

Audio problem: In the third ending, when Wadsworth reveals his true identity, Professor Plum says, "Oh shucks." This sounds like it's been dubbed, and when watching his lips, he actually says something that starts with 'sh', but doesn't end with 'ucks'.

Reformed Dispatcher

Revealing mistake: A visible editing flaw occurs near the beginning, after they return from the Billiard Room with Yvette. While Mrs. White is saying her line to Wadsworth, "I think you had better explain," she starts to unbutton her overcoat. Next is a wide shot of the room that is supposed to be in real time, but Mrs. White's overcoat has already been removed, and she is getting ready to lay it on a chair. Everyone is paused on their marks as if the film was spliced at the exact moment the director yelled, "Action" and no one had moved yet.

xx:xx:xx

Reformed Dispatcher

Continuity mistake: When Professor Plum turns over Mr. Boddy to see where he's apparently been shot, his eyes are closed. In a flashback sequence later in one of the endings (where Miss Scarlet and Yvette are revealed to be the killers), after Plum turns Mr. Boddy over, his eyes are open instead.

Add time

Other mistake: In the end, it was revealed Mrs. White turned off the power. However, when the power got turned off, you can see to the left of the screen, it is a male person's wrist turning off the electricity.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When Professor Plum says Mr. Boddy might have been poisoned with the brandy that Mrs. Peacock starting drinking, she screams and drops it simultaneously. In the flashback, Mrs. Peacock starts screaming violently, and then dropped it.

Other mistake: Even though it is pouring with rain, Mr. Green's coat is completely dry when he arrives at the manor.

xx:xx:xx

Revealing mistake: When Mrs. Peacock goes to powder her nose, the Cook's leg briefly twitches even though she is supposed to be dead.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: Miss Scarlet moves to a table to open her unexpected gift. When she says "I enjoy getting presents from strange men", if you look close enough, she goes to remove the box's ribbon twice.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Audio problem: In the scene in the study where the cast gangs up on Mr. Boddy (when he and Colonel Mustard get into a fight), right when Mrs. White knees him in the groin you hear a lot of commotion from the other guests in the background. Included in this is Yvette saying "Oh no it's." (we know it is Yvette because of the distinct french accent) when in fact, she is in the billiard room recording the conversation.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Green is showing the cop the dining room, you can see the hallway is completely empty. In the next shot, Professor Plum and Miss Scarlet are half way between the study and the lounge.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Deliberate mistake: When they are bringing the Cook's body into the study, it's obvious the Cook is actually the Cook's double because she is much thinner and takes up less space in the doorway.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Other mistake: During the entire movie, the candles on the dinner table are lit and yet never seem to get any shorter as the movie progresses.

Add time

Character mistake: During the conversation in the study about who is blackmailing who, Mrs. White mentions two of her five husbands: An illusionist who disappeared and never reappeared and a nuclear physicist who was found dead at home. During the last ending, Mrs. White says "So this has nothing to do with the disappearance of my nuclear physicist husband or Colonel Mustard's work on the new top secret fusion bomb?". However, during the conversation in the study, Mrs. White says her illusionist husband had disappeared and her nuclear physicist husband was found dead at home. So the correct term would be "So this has nothing to do with the disappearance of my ILLUSIONIST husband or Colonel Mustard's work on the new top secret fusion bomb?".

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Plot hole: Near the end when Wadsworth is revealing Whodunnit, he re-enacts the whole evening, when he re-enacts running into the billiard room when Yvette was screaming he says one person was never in the billiard room and that person the person who killed the Cook and when he re-enacted the scene in the kitchen when the Cook was found dead, he says one person wasn't in the kitchen because that person killed Mr. Boddy with the candlestick. But they were only ever in the kitchen and the billiard room once, so that was the only ever time Wadsworth could have realised the murderer wasn't in the kitchen or billiard room. So how come Wadsworth only realised Whodunnit until the end of the film?

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Deliberate mistake: When Mrs. White is screaming after the power cut, she then says "Help me!" multiple times. It's obvious the "Help me!" lines are just a recording played over and over.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Plot hole: When Miss Scarlet and Prof. Plum are at the door, they never ring the bell. But Wadsworth goes to the door to greet them anyway. Wadsworth couldn't know they were outside because at the front of the house is the study on one side and the lounge on the other. There are no windows in the lounge and there is a window in the study but not facing the car park. The lightning and thunder blocked all sound of them parking so Wadsworth couldn't hear that either.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When Yvette shoots the chandelier the reflections of the lights can be seen on the hall floor in the high angle shots. the lights stay still when the chandelier is spinning and falling.

Add time

Plot hole: When Mr Boddy suggests the guests all leave the house, he makes a pretty desperate escape attempt, leaving the group stood next to a bag full of weapons (which some of them may have known about) for at least half a minute. Depending on which ending you choose to believe there are a number of reasons why he might want to do this. It certainly made it seem as though he had something to hide or had realised his number was up. Later on in the film Wadsworth reenacts the entire evening and goes into quite meticulous detail about the order the guests arrived, where they sat, who said what etc. He also reveals his knowledge of the passages, implicating himself as a suspect. Yet he never mentions Mr Boddy's escape attempt. It turns out that no murders were comitted in this time. Wadsworth might realise this but the guests wouldn't. Considering he goes off at thousands of irrelevant tangents throughout the reenactment, you'd think something like that needed covering, if only for the benefit of misleading the guests to stop them realising that he (Wadsworth) is actually Mr Boddy. Also, there was plenty of time for Yvette to kill the Cook (even though the weapons hadn't been handed round yet, but that would've come out anyway).

Add time

Audio problem: In the first ending, when it's revealed Miss Scarlet murdered four of the six people in Hill House, Colonel Mustard tells Miss Scarlet he has no more money when she wants to blackmail the guests. The other guests reply that they don't have any money either, but look closely at Professor Plum. Although Plum answers "Nor I" to Miss Scarlet, his lips are closed and don't move.

Audio problem: During the re-enactment, at the point when Wadsworth slaps Mrs. Peacock, the slap doesn't touch her, but you still hear it and she still reacts.

Continuity mistake: When Mrs. White and Miss Scarlet pick up the cook's body to place on the couch, they both grab the cook's hands and elbows. In the next shot, they have their arms wrapped around the cook's arms.

Add time

Continuity mistake: Before Mr. Boddy turns out the lights, there is a statue a few inches below and away from the switch. However when Mrs. Peacock turns the lights back on, the statue is directly under the switch.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Other mistake: When everyone finds the Cop's dead body, there is a wound showing were the murderer hit him on the head with the pipe, however, the pipe shows there is no blood.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Revealing mistake: When Wadsworth arrives at Hill House, he ends up stepping in dog feces. As soon as he opens the door, he puts his shoe on a pot and scrapes the feces off. Just after he takes the shoe off the pot, you'll see there is nothing scraped off.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Deliberate mistake: When the chandelier smashes after Colonel Mustard and Miss Scarlet are freed from the lounge and at the end of the first ending, the light level doesn't even go down.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Revealing mistake: Near the end, in the first ending, when Yvette is killing Mr. Boddy, you'll see that she stopped the candlestick above his head when she hit him with it.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Wadsworth is doing the re-enactment of the murderer killing Mr. Boddy with the candle stick, he pretends to hit Mr. Green. After he says "Will you stop that?!", Wadsworth grabs him with one hand. But when he throws Mr. Green into the toilet, he is holding him with two hands.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Character mistake: When Wadsworth is doing the re-enactment, he says he introduced Mrs. White and Colonel Mustard. Wadsworth didn't do that, Mrs. White and Colonel Mustard introduced themselves.

Continuity mistake: Colonel Mustard pours everyone a drink, he puts the whisky on the table and in the next shot the glass he poured whisky in is in his hand without enough time to pick it up.

Casual Person

Visible crew/equipment: When Wadsworth goes to put the weapons in the cupboard, a boom mic is visible at the top of the screen.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Audio problem: When Yvette shows everyone the open cupboard and the door bell rings, Professor Plum turns his head before the door bell even rings.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: When the Cook's body falls out of the freezer on Mr. Green, he is pushed onto the floor. In the next shot, he is standing back up again.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person
Clue mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Professor Plum is sitting on the couch between the corpses of the Mr. Boddy and the Cook, Mr. Boddy is lying in Professor Plum's arm, in the next shot when Colonel Mustard, goes to close his eyes, he is now lying next to the arm of the sofa.

Add time

Casual Person

Deliberate mistake: Wadsworth was explaining how Miss Scarlet killed the cop. It then showed her killing him. You can see that she stopped the lead pipe behind his head so it wouldn't show a violent and bloody death.

Add time

Continuity mistake: In the beginning when Col Mustard shows up, the butler shows him to the library, you can see that door to the library is open. When the scene shifts Wadsworth is opening the door.

Revealing mistake: When the 4 people upstairs, Yvette, Mr Green, the butler, and Mrs White all come running downstairs because Col Mustard and Mrs Scarlet are yelling at the locked door they collide at the top of the stairs. When they all hit they're stunt men and women.

xx:xx:xx

dabears51907

Continuity mistake: When Wadsworth re-enacts the evening, he stabs a piece of meat to re-enact the Cook being stabbed. When he stabs the piece of meat, the knife is at a 90 degree angle. In the next shot, it's in a different angle.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Plot hole: In the end, it was revealed Professor Plum shot Mr. Boddy in the study and the wall (near the fireplace) with the same bullet. Yet when it happened in the study, Professor Plum was sitting on a couch directly in front of Mr. Boddy and wall that got shot was at the other end of the room to Plum's left. The angle for the gun could have not been possible with only one bullet. Bullets are shot directly forward but they can't exactly turn to the left and keep on being fired can they? Even though it was later revealed as someone who took the gun from Plum and the gun went off, he was just lying so nobody else would suspect he was the murderer. Also there are two ways we know only one bullet was fired. One: we can hear only one bullet being fired when the lights were out in the study. And two: there were only six bullets in the gun. One for the singing telegram (6-1=5), one for the chandelier (5-1=4), two for the lounge door (4-2=2), one for Mr. Boddy in the study (2-1=1) and the last bullet was used at the other chandelier at the end of the first ending (1-1=0). So no other bullets could have been fired.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Other mistake: When the power is turned off, Professor Plum lights a match. The light is reflected on the camera indicating that there is a camera there.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Revealing mistake: When Mr. Boddy is making his escape attempt in the conservatory, a dog jumps up against the glass wall. When this happens, the glass wall can be briefly seen wobbling the way a normal glass wall doesn't.

Add time

Casual Person

Audio problem: When Mr. Boddy's corpse falls on Mrs. Peacock, everyone runs to her and Mr. Green says "Mr Boddy! He's attacking her". If you look closely, you'll see Mr. Green's mouth isn't moving when he says it.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Visible crew/equipment: When the cop is driving past the broken down vehicle, a crew member's arm can be seen reflected on the car.

xx:xx:xx

Casual Person

Revealing mistake: Just before the chandelier falls, Col. Mustard quite visibly flinches, even though, realistically, he would have no way of knowing that it was about to crash behind him.

Add time

Audio problem: When the lights are turned out in the beginning by the "butler" there is a series of sounds (thud, gasp, gunshot, scream). Since the only thing that happens when the lights are out is that Professor Plum fires the gun (whether someone grabbed it or not), the first sounds shouldn't be there.
