Austin Powers in Goldmember

Corrected entry: Shouldn't the Mini-Shaguar, being an English spy's English car, have its steering wheel on the right?

Correction: While it does appear to be on the left, there is only one seat, so there really is no right or left side. Even in right-hand drive cars the steering wheel is slightly to the left relative to the center of the driver's seat (to accommodate things like the air vent).

Corrected entry: After Foxy finishes her song "Goldmember" in 1975, another song is heard in the background. It's "When I Get You Alone." This song was not released until the '90s.

Correction: When I Get You Alone is not the song used in the disco scene, the song used is Walter Murphy's A Fifth of Beethoven.

Corrected entry: A deliberate visual gag - every time there is a shot of Tokyo, there is Mount Fuji in the background. Mount Fuji is nowhere near Tokyo.

Correction: Mount Fuji is certainly visible from Tokyo

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the film where you see Mini me, the gun he is holding is called the FN Minimi.

Correction: The weapon DeVito uses as Mini Me is not the FN Minimi, it is actually an Ultimax 100 mk3 fitted with a 100 round Beta C magazine.

Corrected entry: In the disco scene when Austin travel back to 1975, original music (never before released) from the soundtrack of the film "Saturday Night Fever" is playing in the background at one point. "Saturday Night Fever" wasn't released until 1977.

Correction: After watching this scene several times the song that is playing is actually "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind and Fire. As this song was released in 1975 it is entirely possible that it would be playing in the background.

Corrected entry: Nigel Powers' spy car is a Mini Cooper, a clear reference to Michael Caine's (Nigel) leading role in "The Italian Job" (1969), which features a famous Mini chase.

Correction: Or, more likely, it is featured because BMW, parent corporation of Mini, paid a huge sum to feature their new prototype of a Mini convertible in the film.

Corrected entry: At the end, when Fat Bastard says he lost 180 pounds, he is a lot skinnier. But in the first movie, Dr. Evil says he weights a metric ton which is 2204 pounds. When he lost 180 pounds, he would still weigh 2024 and not be that skinny.

Correction: It was most likley a exaggeration that Dr. Evil was making. He wouldn't even be able to move if he was that weight.

Corrected entry: When Austin travels to 1975 and he first meets Foxxy but is really talking to Nathan Lane, "she" says the line "About a year ago" you can tell that he has to hurry up and he flubs his line just a tad but quickly recovers.

Erika Medina

Correction: So what if he flubs his line just a tad? He is just supposed to be pretending to be talking to Austin so Foxxy can't be seen talking to Austin. Exact lip synch is not needed to pretend to talk to someone.

Corrected entry: When Scotty ejects Mr. Roboto from his seat into the tank with sharks with frickin' laser beams on their heads, the sharks begin attacking Mr. Roboto. When sharks eat humans there should be a lot of blood in the water. This does not occur in this scene. The water never turns red, it only churns up white.

Correction: As Dr.Evil wanted the lasers so that the sharks cold enjoy "A cooked meal", I'm guessing the lasers cooked Roboto instantly, so there would be no blood, just succulent Roboto Juices.

Soylent Purple

Corrected entry: Near the end of the previous film, Dr Evil says "I am your father". Austin replies "Really?" as though he never knew who his father was. However in this film, he seems to know all about his father and has no trouble remembering many past events.

Correction: Austin is an idiot, and he could easily need some 10 seconds to realise that Dr. Evil's 'confession' was completely nonsense.

Corrected entry: Austin travels back to 1975, and fits right in. He was, however, frozen in 1967, and should be just as out of place in the '70's as he was in the '90s. He should have no idea what a "pimp-mobile" is.

Correction: I wasn't around in the 1970's either, but I know what a pimp mobile is. No doubt Austin has watched a lot of TV/Films/Starsky&Hutch in the couple of years that he has been defrosted.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Austin first gets to Studio 69, Foxy is wearing gold platform shoes. In the next scene after Goldmember takes Nigel out in the time machine, Austin and Foxy run out the door and Foxy is wearing sneakers.

Correction: After Foxy finishes her song, she goes backstage and sometime later comes back into the club to talk to Austin Powers. She certainly had time to switch her shoes.

Corrected entry: The doctor in Dr. Evil's submarine who asks Austin to urinate in the glass and go behind the screen is the same actor from the first one who shows Vanessa the Swedish-made penis enlarger pump. He was working for the government then - has he swapped sides? (This is a different character being played by the same actor, yet because his face is recognizable, it is still a mistake.)

Correction: An actor playing two different characters is not a mistake - the two characters merely have a striking resemblance to each other.

Corrected entry: In the first scene in the Dr. Evil sub, if you look at the fish swimming in the "water" you can quite clearly see one swimming vertically.

Correction: Fish can swim vertically.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dr. Evil is looking through the periscope shaped like his head, he says 'Up Periscope'. He should have said 'down'. Saying 'Up' raises the periscope out of the water on the top of the submarine.

Correction: This is intentional, to show Dr. Evil as an idiot.

Corrected entry: At the start of the film, where Steven Spielberg makes a cameo appearance, that really IS him doing backflips away from the camera.

The Doctor

Correction: No it isn't. It is Kim Robert Kosci, a stuntman.

Corrected entry: Throughout the movie, Goldmember says "Schei├če" (s**t), a German word. He is supposedly Dutch, he would use the Dutch word "verdomme."

Correction: Goldmember dosen't know, or does not want to know, that he is Dutch. This is apparent when he is always saying, "Yes I have a Dutch accent. Isn't it weird?"

Corrected entry: When Fuk Mi's twin is standing next to her she's on the left side of her. Then it shows a cut of Austin. When it cuts back Fuk Mi is introducing Fuk Yu who is standing on her right. They sure switched places fast.

Correction: Fook Mi's twin, Fook Yu, was always on Fook Mi's left side the whole time they were standing. They never switched places, even when Fook Yu was being introduced in the shot described.

Corrected entry: In the very beginning when the Tom Cruise Austin is falling from the sky, he is falling upside down but close up shots show him falling feet first.

Correction: In the close up shots, it's impossible to tell what angle he is falling at since you cannot see any horizon as a reference. Based on the movement of his body relative to the cloulds, he seems to still be moving head first.

Corrected entry: During the fight scene between Mini Me and Austin, Mini Me is thrown against the mini bar fridge. You can clearly see the glitch in editing when Mini Me replaces the mannequin that hit the ground.

Correction: From my DVD, that transition looks completely seamless. Of course you can see that there was a transition from a mannequin to a real person, but there is no glitch in the editing. If there was a glitch, then you should be able to tell the exact frame the transition was done. I looked it over a few dozen times, plus a dozen times frame by frame and it seems to be a perfect transition from the mannequin to the real Mini Me.

Corrected entry: In the scene when Basil tells Foxxy and Austin that Fat Bastard gave a package to Mr. Roboto, Austin's hair is blowing to the right while Foxxy's is blowing to the left.

Correction: Any natural wind or movement of the car can cause their hairs to blow in different directions. For example, since Foxxy is sitting on the the right side, wind blows in from the side of the windscreen making her hair blow left. Also since Austin is on the other side of the car, wind blows around the windscreen in the other direction, making his hair blow to the right. They are sitting together in the car, different hair movements does not mean anything and can hardly be called a mistake.

Corrected entry: When Austin and Foxxy are trying to rescue Nigel from the conveyor belt, he is reaching closer to the fire, but when he is talking to Austin and Foxxy he isn't moving at all.

Correction: Nigel wasn't on a conveyor belt, he was on a robotic arm which placed him stationary in front of the smelting device that was moving closer and closer to him. Nigel wasn't supposed to be moving when talking to Austin and Foxxy.

Corrected entry: While the Japanese twins' names are pronounced about right, they would never be spelled the way they are on the bags, as Japanese cannot end syllables with a consonant (except n). They should be written Fukumi and Fukuyu.

Correction: In a deleted scene, we learn that the twins aren't really Japanese - they're called Cindy and Sally. They might not know how to spell Japanese names in English.

Corrected entry: In one scene when Dr. Evil is talking, there is a shot when Dr. Evil says "little creepy." As he is saying this you can see the boom mike at the top of the screen.

gandolfs dad

Correction: This is not a boom mic, it is simply the periscope that was lifted in an earlier shot.

Corrected entry: When Dr. Evil gets hit in the crutch by the meteor model, we hear Goldmember say "Schei*e" (German for s**t), but he is Dutch. The Dutch word for s**t is the same as the English word. No one in Holland would say Schei*e.

Correction: Simply not true, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, many Dutch speak fluent German since it has many similarities with Dutch and they have a common border. Secondly but much more importantly, words like Scheisse and merde (its French equivalent) are regularly used by people from other countries. I used to live in Holland and frequently heard Dutch people using German and the word Scheisse.

Corrected entry: When Goldmember has taken Austin's father Nigel in the time machine, all the henchwomen are shooting Foxxy and Austin. Foxxy shouts "C'mon, Sugar" and she races to Austin's car/time machine, but how did she know where it was? No one (including Austin) ever told her and she never saw it beforehand.

Correction: Considering that all the guards are shooting at them, Foxxy would just be trying to get out of the building. She then saw Austin's car and headed for it.

Corrected entry: Austin Powers left school in 1959. He would have been 18 then. This means that the family holiday in Belgium, when he was a baby, would have been in 1941. Continental Europe would have been an odd choice for a family holiday that year, what with World War II going on and everything. Note: Lots of people seem to think that in England school leaving age is 16. It can be, but most stay on until 18, especially at a smart private school like Austin's.

Correction: In the post-war years, the school leaving age in Britain was 15. It had been increased to that age by the Education Act of 1944, and wasn't raised again (to the current age of 16) until 1973. Assuming that Austin left school at 15, he would have been born in 1944 - and he would still have been a baby had his family's trip to Belgium taken place any time up to about the end of 1945. Given that Belgium was liberated from Nazi occupation within a few months of the D-Day landings in June 1944, it's fair to say that they could have visited that country in 1945 without too much fear of being shot at.

Tim Haveron Jones

Corrected entry: In the flashback scenes in Belgium (1941), Nigel, as Austin's father, looks to be about thirty. This means in 2002, at the time the film is set, he should be in his nineties and a bit old for spying and "shagging." Time travel doesn't come into it - he's captured in the present and taken back to the 70's for safe keeping, so the version we see of him is the present version, so he should be about 90.

Correction: Like Austin, his services are needed for the future so it's likely he also went through suspended animation like Austin. Maybe that's why he keeps missing Austin's events.

Corrected entry: In the Sumo Arena, the 'Twister' move Fat Bastard used on the Sumo Wrestler would definitely be a foul, and he would have lost the game; but in the movie, he wins.

Correction: For that very reason Austin and Foxxy both say 'That's not right' and in the very next scene you see Fat Bastard paying the referee. Fat Bastard performs a foul and still wins because he has bribed the ref, not a mistake.

Corrected entry: When Dr. Evil has the globe dropped on his head, it is dangling there behind him when Mini me throws the model asteroid. A few seconds later the globe is gone.

Correction: The globe was not there because Number 2 took it off.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Austin and Foxxy are in Austin's car in Tokyo, Foxxy is wearing an orange/reddish shirt and has Japanese chopsticks in her hair. Basil then says to go to the sumo wrestling arena where Fat Bastard is immediately and when Austin and Foxxy get to the arena, Foxxy is wearing a completely different outfit and her hair is different.

Correction: Foxxy usually has more than one set of clothes on her, as noticed when she's wearing her usual clothes after ditching her cleaning lady disguise later on.

Corrected entry: Just before Dr. Evil asks for the re-enactment of the meteor striking the earth, Mini Me wheels himself over to the left hand side of the screen. When Dr. Evil asks for the meteor to be dropped, (not even 1 minute later) Mini Me is up on high scaffolding of the other side of the room.

Correction: As shown in the last movie, Mini-me's chair is capable of launching him high into the air, he may have simply hit the jump button.

Corrected entry: Before Mini Me goes sliding down the vent shaft Austin tells Mini Me to take the map. Mini Me grabs the unfolded map and jumps down the shaft. Before he breaks through the door at the end of the shaft, you can clearly see that the map is folded.

Correction: Considering how long it took Mini-me to get to Foxxy he could have very well folded it.

Corrected entry: Austin Powers, Dr. Evil, Basil Exposition, and No.2 all attended the same school - the BRITISH Intelligence Academy. I could understand Austin and Basil, they're both English, but Dr. Evil is Belgian and No.2 is American - why aren't they enrolled under the Intelligence programs of their own countries?

Correction: Perhaps simply because the British school is better. Wouldn't an American family want only the BEST for their son? As for Dr. Evil, his parents would want him to learn the best Spy skills for evil. For all we know Austin's dad pulled strings to get his other son into the academy.

Corrected entry: When Austin caught Dr. Evil in the first act, why wasn't everyone else captured along with him (Frau, Scott, 2)?

Correction: Because they didn't do anything. Dr. Evil developed the evil plan, Frau was just in the room, Number 2's new business was perfectly legal, and Scott's never committed a real crime.

Corrected entry: On the DVD, in the scene with Austin and the Fook twins, when they sit on the bed you can see the twin on the right's foot get tangled in some wire that is on the floor.

Correction: It is most likely a wire to some of Austin's stereo equipment, disco lights, or even a vibrator in the bed, not movie equipment.

Corrected entry: In "The Spy Who Shagged Me", Dr. Evil tells Austin that he's Austin's father, which Austin believes until Dr. Evil tells him he has nothing to back that up. But in this film, Dr. Evil and Austin were in Spy School together at around the same age. Don't you think that Austin would have been smart enough to make the connection immediately without believing that Dr. Evil is not his father?

Correction: Doctor Evil had to psychologically probe Austin's mind to make him remember, so in all likelihood, he didn't remember in Spy Who Shagged Me.

Corrected entry: How did Nigel Powers have his mini stashed in Mr. Roboto's factory so conveniently?

Correction: He didn't keep it in the factory, just near him. He used the remote control in his watch to constantly keep his Mini near him should an opportunity to escape show up.

Corrected entry: During Foxxy's Musical number at Goldmember's Club, there are two back up singers/dancers behind her. Those are Beyonce Knowles real life sisters Devin and Solange.

Correction: Foxxy's two backup singers/dancers at Studio 69 are NOT related to Beyonce as stated in the entry. They are Sybil Azur and Nicole Humphries, as can be seen in the credits. Beyonce only has one sister, Solange Knowles.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dr. Evil is talking to Goldmember in the submarine, Dr. Evil proclaims to not speak 'freaky-deaky' Dutch, yet he is from Brugge, which is in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium.

Correction: People in Brugge speak Flemish, NOT Dutch, even though they are similar languages.

Corrected entry: Just after Nigel finishes saying what he hates in the world, Austin turns his head and says "what", but if you look at his mouth, he doesn't move his lips.

Jackie Menechino

Correction: It isn't Austin saying this. The voice is higher than Austin's, just like Goldmember's. Plus it sounded horrified, and Austin would be just questioning his father doing one of the things he himself hates most, disrespecting another person's culture. So it must've been Goldmember's.

Corrected entry: When Austin looks back at his days in the academy it looks as though Basil and Austin are the same age, but when it goes back to 2003 you can see that Basil is older than him with those wrinkles.

Correction: They seemed to be the same age at the beginning of the first movie as well. Then Austin was frozen and didn't age for all of that time while Basil did, hence the difference.

Corrected entry: Goldmember is mocked several times for his pronunciation of "father" as "fah-jher". However, the Dutch word for father is "vader" - no Dutch person would ever pronounce "father" as Goldmember does.

Correction: Yes, but he is saying the word "father" in English with a very strong Dutch accent.

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: When Dr. Evil gets hit in the meat and two veg by the meteor model we hear Goldmember say "Schei*e" (German for sh*t), but he is Dutch.

gandolfs dad

Correction: Duplicated mistake

Grumpy Scot

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the movie, when Austin is doing cartwheels out of the studio, you can see that it is not Mike Myers, but a stunt double. (For example, he is wearing no glasses.)

Jackie Menechino

Correction: Duplicated mistake

Corrected entry: Just before Foxxy collects Fat Bastard's "diaper" he looks at his poop and says something. You can see that only half of his body is casting a shadow, but the other half that is not casting a shadow is nowhere to be seen.

Jackie Menechino

Correction: The lamp isn't located right behind Fat Bastard, it's to the left, therefore we see half his shadow, without seeing his body.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Austin goes back to 1975 Basil puts in 1975 on the keypad and then Austin presses the button. When Austin and Foxxy get into the car to go, Austin just presses the button without typing on the keypad, 2002. Wouldn't it still be set to 1975?

Correction: There is likely a button to return to the original takeoff time. It just seems logical.

Corrected entry: When Austin is narrating how he was found as a baby, he says the man found a blood-soaked baby, but the baby has no blood on him at all.

Correction: It was Dr. Evil who was narrating, and he was exaggerating.

Corrected entry: When Beyonce Knowles tells Mike Myers "8 years and no phone call..." If you remember in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, he was frozen in 1962, and unfrozen in 1997.She said this in 1975. Eight years back from 1975 is 1967. If he was frozen in 1967, how could he actually meet her?

Correction: Austin Powers was frozen in 1967. It's even mentioned at the beginning of "The Spy Who Shagged Me".

Corrected entry: Goldmember, in 1975, refers to "Bad News Bears", starring Walter Matthau, which wasn't out until 1976, and "Macho Man" by the Village People. The band wasn't formed until 1977, and the song wasn't released until 1978.

Correction: Just because Goldmember was in 1975 at the time didn't mean he had never time-traveled, seeing as how he had a time machine in his office. So he could have seen or heard of the things he spoke of.

Corrected entry: When Mini-Me is in the Mini with Foxxy and Austin, he starts writing notes, the first of which he gives to Austin to read out. You can see that it is pre-written, and Austin holds it upside-down.

Correction: It's just thin paper - you can see the writing from the other side.

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie, when the superstars are portraying the Austin powers characters, it lists Tom Cruise in AustinPussy. At the end of the movie when everyone exits the theatre, the marquee reads Austin Powers in AustinPussy.

Correction: Tom Cruise stars in it, so is listed in the credits as such, but the title of the film is "Austin Powers in AustinPussy", much like "Austin Powers in Goldmember", but starring Mike Myers.

Corrected entry: Austin went back in 1975 and found his dad in bed with four women. Austin's dad made a comment about him taking Viagra. Viagra did not come out into the market until late 1999's.

Correction: Austin's Dad has been kidnapped from 2002 and taken back to 1975 for safekeeping.

Austin Powers: Mole! Bloody mole! We aren't supposed to talk about the bloody mole, but there's a bloody mole winking me in the face! I want to cut it off, chop it off, and make guacaMOLE!

In the showdown between Austin and Britney, when the view goes to a close up of her machine-gun breasts, she has significant cleavage but when it zooms out she has no cleavage.

The content of the email received by Austin while he is demonstrating the internet is 'A new ATM card will be sent to you by Fed-Ex because your account has ben compromised by an unknown hacker who obtained your PIN Number while you were purchasing an MP3 Player on E-Bay. Sincerely, Your Bank.' This was included because Mike Myers really did have his bank account compromised shortly before filming.
