Continuity mistake: During the scene in which the homeless character portrayed by Steve Buscemi is having a conversation with Longfellow, he is eating a slice of his favourite pizza; French Fries & Oreos. In shot in the scene Buscemi takes a bite out of the slice of pizza, and there is one Oreo on the slice, toward the front of it. Then the shot goes to Longfellow for a moment, and in the next shot of Buscemi, the Oreo is suddenly at the other end of the slice. The Oreo continues moving from the front to the back of the slice throughout the scene. (00:11:25)
Continuity mistake: The most flame retardant box of cereal ever! When Deeds saves the woman from the burning building, there is a box of cereal next to the window that is on fire, and only on fire at the top of the box. The scene takes three or four minutes, yet through it all the fire never spreads to the rest of the box or dies out. The top just keeps on burning. Product placement, methinks... Continuity mistake: Murph is helping out at Deed's pizza shop early in the film. In the scene where he is talking to Deeds, a Pepsi cup disappears off his serving tray.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Deeds is tossing the cats out the window, he throws a black cat with white paws which gets caught by a dog. The dog runs by a guy who suddenly has the cat in his hands without bending over to pick it up. Not only that, but the cat has become grey with black stripes.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Deeds is rescuing the cats from the fire, Pam couldn't have gotten the footage while holding a cat over the corsage with the hidden camera. (00:51:30)
Continuity mistake: Deeds beats up an opera singer and another rich guy. Pam catches it all on her button camera, but she wouldn't be able to see both assaults from a different view, she shows the same views of the assaults as the actual movie itself shows.
Continuity mistake: In the part where Pam falls into the ice and Deeds rescues her, she comes out of the water and her hair is soaking wet but when she is lying on the ice, her hair looks like it has been dried with a towel. (01:37:00)
Continuity mistake: When Deeds is walking and talking with Chuck and Anderson, Deeds spots Mr. Wetherley slowly walking along the street. Deeds then runs over to him, and offers him a 'lift.' Wetherley is walking past a shop, and there is a bench outside the shop with a little black litter bin beside it. The distance between the bench and the bin changes three/four times between shots. (00:10:05)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Deeds is rescuing "Pam" from the fake mugging, he catches up to the 'mugger', grabs him and throws him into a series of garbage cans sitting beside a building. While falling, he drops Pam's purse near where the garbage cans were sitting. But after Deeds finishes beating up the mugger, he picks up the purse, which has now mysteriously moved across the sidewalk in front of the cable barriers on the curb.
Continuity mistake: In the house with blue shutters and a red door in Winchestertonfieldville, Iowa, a little boy chokes on his gum. Pam starts hitting him on the back. They are standing on the landing by a banister with a pink and purple mat hanging over it. When Pam hits the boy's head on the banister, the mat is gone. Then when the boy spits out the gum, the mat has returned. (00:59:40)
Continuity mistake: In the scene at Madison Square Garden basketball arena, when Deeds is going to propose to Pam during a romantic dinner, the candles on the table constantly change lengths. At one point one of the candles appears to be half the size of the other, but later it is mysteriously longer and almost the same size. The candles should gradually grow shorter during the scene, not longer.
Continuity mistake: In Winchestertonfieldville Iowa, in the house with blue shutters and red door, Pam, Deeds and the three kids are upstairs. Two shots prior to the kid choking on his gum, on the table by the cupboard (the cupboard Pam said was her brother's room) the items move/appear and change. (00:59:25)
