Spider-Man

Trivia: The Moondance diner that Mary Jane works at is the same diner that Monica works at in the TV show "Friends" during its 2nd and 3rd seasons. It's the theme restaurant for which she has to wear the flame-retardant breasts.

Trivia: Just an observation, but at the beginning of the movie when we first see Mary Jane on the school bus, she is dressed in the Green Goblin's (from the comic book, anyways) colours. Her top is purple and her coat is green. (00:03:40)

Trivia: Not a mistake, more of an egg...When Peter gets home after seeing MJ at the diner, he mentions to Harry about getting fired by Dr. Conners for being late. Dr. Conners is also known as the Spider-Man villain The Lizard. Also, during the first scene with JJJ, he tells his staff to get better pictures of Spider-Man and the black guy responds, "Eddie has been trying all week"...This could be Venom, aka Eddie Brock who was also a reporter for the Daily Bugle. Could these have been hints as to future Spidey villains?

Trivia: As an abstract signature, Sam puts the Oldsmobile from The Evil Dead, in all of his movies. It is an 1973 Oldsmobile Delta Royal. The car has been in every one of Sam Rami's films except for Quick and the Dead. The automobile has belonged to Sam since high school and was speculated by Bruce Campbell that it was so important to the director because he lost his virginity in that car. Hey it is a very roomy car. Uncle Ben is driving that same Oldsmobile when giving Pete a ride to the "library". (00:33:05)

Trivia: Several times in the movie, a character will reference one of the comic book titles, when referring to Spider-Man. This is most noticeable when the ring announcer calls him, "Amazing."

Trivia: When Peter begins his transformation into Spider-Man in his bedroom, there is a shot showing nerves firing off in his brain. This is actually stock footage from the 1990 movie "Darkman," which was also directed by Sam Raimi. (It is footage from Darkman's psychadelic freak-outs.) The footage was simply re-colored and augmented with some digital enhancements. (00:14:00)

Trivia: During the scene when Spider-Man is saving the baby from the fire, he must go back into the burning building to save a screaming woman. For anyone who plays the Sony Playstation and has played Parasite Eve II will easily recognize those screams from the game, when Aya must go rescue the screaming woman from the room in Dryfield that is behind the bolted cabinet. The filmmakers took those voice overs right from the video game.

Sharon Murray

Trivia: The scientist assisting Norman Osborne, who he then kills, is named as Dr Mendell Stromm, the same as a character who became The Robot-Master in the comics and was an enemy of Norman before we found out he was the Green Goblin. (00:20:40)

Trivia: When Peter meets Mary Jane just after her audition, he tells her "I was in the neighborhood", then goes on to list how many taxis and buses he had to take to get into the neighborhood. This is the exact same line said by Liza Minelli to Dudley Moore in the film "Arthur," at Arthur's engagement party. (01:15:00)

Trivia: If you go to the end of the credits, there is the 1960's cartoon theme of Spider-Man.

Trivia: One of the early trailers for this movie featured bank robbers getting away in a helicopter, but getting stuck by Spider-Man's webbing in between the Twin Towers. After 9/11, the trailer was recalled, along with a subsequent poster featuring the Twin Towers' reflection in Spidey's eyes.

Brad

Trivia: At the Oscorp fair, Spider-Man saves a boy from the balloon that's falling on him, and the same boy is on the tram that Spider-Man catches as it's falling.

Trivia: When creating Spider-Man, Stan Lee purposely put the "dash" between Spider and Man so fans wouldn't mistake him for Superman since the names are so similar.

Trivia: When Uncle Ben drops Peter off at the library, he says that he will pick him up at 10:00. But in the subtitles on Chinese prints of the film, it says, "I will pick you up when you are 10 years old." (00:34:45)

Trivia: Bit of trivia - when Peter Parker finally gets the nerve to talk to Mary Jane, he nervously says "Let's get some lunch some evening". This is exactly the same line the hero of the Sam Raimi film "Crimewave" says when he asks the heroine out. Is Sam Raimi thumbing his nose just a little at the critics of "Crimewave"? I think so. Also, the same yellow Olds was used in the final chase scene of "Crimewave" (as in most Sam Raimi films) along with a lot of the same stunts (punch through the windshield, etc). (00:56:30)

Trivia: The first film ever to gross over $100 million dollars domestically in its opening weekend. It was also one of the top-ten highest grossing films ever made at the time of its release, though it has since been surpassed by a number of other films.

Trivia: The first film to feature Marvel's iconic "flipping pages" logo. Although Marvel Studios uses a unique logo now for the films they produce, non "MCU" productions still to this day use this original logo as of 2021.

Trivia: In the wrestling scene when Peter has just gotten up the stairs to see the wrestling match (before he signs up) the announcer announces the next fighter to fight Bone Saw. The fighters name is The Flying Dutchman which is the title of one of the old Spider-Man TV shows involving Mysterio. (00:36:00)

Trivia: During the Thanksgiving dinner that occurred right after the fight in the burning building, notice the clothes Peter and Norman are wearing. Peter is wearing a green shirt (the Green Goblin's color), Norman wears a blue shirt with a red tie (Spider-Man's colors). Also, Harry is wearing all of the colours - green shirt, red tie, and blue coat. (01:23:45)

Spider-Man mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Peter shoots his web at his bedroom lamp and pulls it across the room, it smashes against the wall and breaks. But when Aunt May is talking to Peter from the door seconds later, the lamp is back on the dresser in one piece. (00:32:15)

Question: What was Tobey Maguire's full process to get Spider-man's body? What was his body and fighting training and food diets? Is there any website where they have it in full writing?

Answer: The following is taken directly from People Magazine May 27, 2002: WORKOUT: Maguire exercised for at least 3.5 hours, six days a week, with his regimen varying "depending on how sore he felt," says Joujon-Roche. Mornings were spent improving his flexibility with yoga and splits, along with building strength through abdominal and lower-body exercises on an oversize ball. "We would just work on each body part until we killed it," Joujon-Roche says. "Then the next day we'd go to another and kill that one." Afternoons were devoted to cardiovascular activities like martial arts and cycling, to burn fat, plus gymnastics. "Tobey did his own flips with that Spider-Man hood on," says Joujon-Roche. "We gave him self-assuredness." DIET: For breakfast Joujon-Roche made the actor, a vegetarian, a "high-protein shake that included nuts, essential oils and vitamins." Lunch, he says, was often "marinated tofu with broccoli and walnuts and dinner a big veggie burger with brown rice." The menu varied with Maguire's output. "If his workout was pure weights," says Joujon-Roche, "he needed protein. If he did cardio, he'd have a shake of all carbs."
