Batman

New this month Continuity mistake: Before the final torpedo, the projector lenses are out. After the explosion, the Batboat is gone, and the projector is again concealed. Batman didn't have time to put the cover on.

New this month Continuity mistake: As the Batcopter approaches the yacht, switching between the aerial view and inside the cabin, Batman is seen both standing outside ready to descend the ladder, and piloting.

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile is going to park (before the bomb scene) there is a sign saying "Mobey Dick Parking Only". When he is later carrying the bomb and passes by the Batmobile the sign is not there.

Add time

Revealing mistake: When the Penguin is sliding down the zip line, just before he hits Batman you can see Batman throwing a punch at nobody, he is swinging at empty air.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Bruce Wayne escapes from the United Underworld (Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman), he climbs to the top of their hideout (Ye Olde Benbow Taverne) and jumps from the top of the roof (to the water below). But in the next shot, Bruce now jumps from the edge of the roof and dives into the water.

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film we visit the office where the country representatives had argued earlier. Batman sets up the chemical equipment to bring them back. When it's done, where has the equipment on the seats gone?

Add time

Other mistake: Robin yells "Holy Polaris" before the rocket even breaks the surface of the water.

Add time

Other mistake: When the Joker fires a missile near the end of the movie it curves to the left. The writing on the missile is backwards, showing that it is reversed footage from earlier in the film, when it curved to the right.

Add time

Revealing mistake: In the first shot of Adam West and Burt Ward driving in a beige '66 Imperial convertible, the camera zooms out above the car - but not before you can see that the two men in the car are stand-ins for Adam and Burt.

Add time

Revealing mistake: Batman is lowered into the ocean and a shark attacks his leg. When Robin in the Batcopter pulls both Batman and the shark up out of the water, the very fake looking shark has gallons of water pouring out the back of it where there must have been a large hole.

Add time

Other mistake: The scene where the Penguin is dehydrating his henchmen. Watch as the last henchmen is dehydrated - the shot changes to the Penguin and the Riddler. You hear the Riddler's laugh but his lips don't move until the end of the laugh.

Add time

Continuity mistake: During the fight on the submarine, just before Robin punches the Joker into the water there is nobody else on the deck. When the Joker is shown falling overboard, two other henchmen are sprawled out on the deck near him.

Add time

Continuity mistake: In the helicopter scene in the first 10 minutes of the movie, Batman moves down on the ladder and stops. In that first shot you can see that there are about 10-12 rungs below him. In the next shot there are only two. Shortly after he gets attacked by the shark there are now at least four rungs below him, and yet he has not made any attempt to move up or down.

Revealing mistake: When the Batboat leaves the dock, heading out to sea, the blurred rotors of the camera helicopter are constantly seen across the top of the shot.

Continuity mistake: When Robin is saving Batman from the shark, and he is hanging upside down to spray the shark repellent, his position in relation to Batman changes between shots (almost too far to reach, then he is suddenly close).

Continuity mistake: When Batman discovers a bomb, he is driving towards the villain's hide out and you can see all the parking spaces are full except one, yet when he parks there are no cars on either side of him.

Add time

Other mistake: When Penguin and the others attack Bruce on his date in his hotel room, Penguin is the first one to charge him. Bruce takes a swing at Penguin's face and he goes flying from the blow. You don't even need to slow the film down to see that Bruce totally misses him.

Add time

Continuity mistake: The amounts of colored powder in the vials change in every shot; sometimes they are all equal, other times there are large differences between them.

Add time

Other mistake: When the Batboat is approaching the submarine before the final fight, the shot from the periscope is an overhead shot, not a surface shot like all the others in the film.

Add time

Continuity mistake: When Batman and Robin are trapped on the buoy, they can see the periscope for the submarine sticking above the water, yet whenever a torpedo is launched, it is shown approaching from a distance much further away.

Other mistake: When Bruce Wayne enters Wayne manor after his escape from the criminal hideout, Bruce opens the door and closes it, but it doesn't latch. The door starts to swing open and then suddenly closes, as if a stage hand was there to close it.

Batman mistake picture

Revealing mistake: Whenever the moving Batmobile is emitting flames from the afterburner, like when it leaves the Batcave for the first time, an object is hung below the exhaust port that resembles a camcorder. The gadget is part of the equipment added to make the car shoot flames while moving. During the TV series, flames are only seen in close-up of the car motionless, as this was a prop comprised of a copy of just the last few feet of the car. On TV, the car's rear license plate is visible. In this film, it's partially blocked by the added equipment.

xx:xx:xx

johnrosa

Revealing mistake: The Batcave was a stage set with no real exit for the car. So when the car exits for the first time here, one shot is looking into the cave from the tunnel as the Batmobile approaches and passes to our right. Just before the shot ends, the rear end of the car jumps upward and tire skid marks appear on the floor as the driver slams on the brakes to avoid hitting the studio wall that is out of the shot, while the audio suggests the car is still accelerating.

xx:xx:xx

johnrosa

Revealing mistake: After leaving the Batcave for the first time, the Batmobile is shown from overhead, cruising down the road. It's painfully obvious the occupants are not Burt Ward and Adam West.

Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile arrives on the pier, it's parked with its front end facing open ocean (against the orange contraption on the dock) and its tail toward dry land. But when Batman and Robin return and phone the Navy, the car has reversed direction (tail now against the contraption). It's not likely Batman would arrive back at the pier, start the car, turn it around, park in the same spot, shut the car off, reopen the doors and then make a call, only to then drive away.

Visible crew/equipment: As the Batcoper emerges from its hangar, multiple crew and equipment are reflected in the cockpit's glass bubble.

Batman mistake picture

Continuity mistake: As the Batmobile arrives at the pier, it turns into a parking space, one of two available between a green VW Beetle and a white station wagon. In the close-up as Batman and Robin exit the car, the spaces on both sides of the Batmobile are empty. Judging by the location of the "Moby Dick" sign at the edge of the pier, the white wagon has disappeared.

xx:xx:xx

johnrosa

Revealing mistake: When the Batmobile emerges from the Batcave for the first time, the guard rail lays down and the car turns toward our right, disappearing in a cloud of dust. Watching carefully reveals the dust is being kicked up because the car was over-accelerated by the stunt driver, and spun out, heading back into the roadside brush.

xx:xx:xx

Batman mistake picture

Revealing mistake: When Batman brings the Penguin to the Batcave the Batmobile skids to a stop on the gray floor. It then begins to rotate in the next shot and it's now on a black platform. When the Penguin emerges from the car and walks toward the rear of it, the platform is obviously gone.

xx:xx:xx

johnrosa

Other mistake: If you look closely at the top left part of the screen, you can see Penguin hit Robin with the umbrella and turn to the zip line in a far shot of the fight. One shot later, just after Batman kicks a pirate off the side of the sub, the same act is repeated when the camera is focused on the two of them.

Add time

Other mistake: When Batman is climbing the ladder and the shark has his leg, Batman works very hard at trying to place his radio back on his utility belt only to have it fall off.

Add time

Other mistake: When Batman and Robin watch the Polaris missile being launched from Penguin's submarine, they are facing toward dry land, while the ocean is behind them.

Deliberate mistake: When the fight first begins on deck of the sub, a henchman jumps from the hatch and picks up a wrench that was lying on deck. If the sub just surfaced, where did that wrench come from?

Add time

Continuity mistake: When the villains are checking to see if Batman and Robin were hit by the torpedo, one shot has the submarine itself surfacing but in the next shot only the periscope is above water.

Add time

Batman mistake picture

Revealing mistake: All the rear shots of the Batmobile in motion show flames emitted from the afterburner. But in the shot of it leaving the pier, the flames go out a few moments before the shot ends. The effects equipment failed or ran out of fuel.

xx:xx:xx

Revealing mistake: The swords and wrench used in the final fight were poorly made rubber items as they shake and bend whenever they hit something.

Add time

Revealing mistake: As Riddler is going overboard after being spun around by Batman with the deck gun, it's obviously a stunt double in green tights.

Add time

Movie Nut

Revealing mistake: In any scene showing the Batcycle in motion, Batman and Robin are quite obviously replaced by stunt doubles; Batman's double is thinner than Adam West, and Robin's double appears at least ten years older than Burt Ward.

Factual error: When Riddler's rocket hits the Batcopter, the villains are watching from the periscope as Batman and Robin are crashing. However, the image they see is a straight-on shot, as if the lens were right in front of the copter. No pre-atomic periscope can reach that far up.

Add time

Continuity mistake: Catwoman tosses her black cat onto the table, where it lands on an empty expanse of red carpet with nothing nearby. But in the next shot, there's a gold statue sitting within inches of the cat.

Audio problem: As the camera looks at the delegates, it gets to the Japanese man. What is heard in no way matches his mouth's movements. Also, the British representative can be heard speaking a second or two after disappearing.

Revealing mistake: When Batman and Robin are ascending up the side of a building while holding onto a rope, you can see the lines pulling on the bottom of their capes, so that they can give it the effect that Batman and Robin's capes are hanging down in the vertical position.

Continuity mistake: When the officials are being dehydrated, close ups of the liquid in the dehydrater show the level increasing up to about 75% but far away shots show the level steady at about 20%.

Revealing mistake: As the camera watches the duel between Batman and Penguin, the wall of the set is painfully obvious, as you can see lines and ripples in the scenery of the sky.

Revealing mistake: After hitting the Riddler and Joker, a thug with the red and white striped cap goes to hit Batman. As he does, Batman starts to turn away from the oncoming punch well before the man's fist is even near him.

Continuity mistake: When boarding the sub, Robin ties the Batboat off to keep it in place, but it disappears when the fight breaks out. Also, they come aboard well aft of the forward hatch, but a moment later, they're just a couple feet away from it, walking towards the Conning tower.

Add time

Continuity mistake: As Joker uses the dehydrator, the amount of water in the container varies between shots from almost empty to almost full and back.

Other mistake: After opening the abandoned elevator, the Penguin tells his cohorts to hold their breaths because of lingering gas, and there was no real sign of it. However, before the elevator, there was colored gas all over, and he walked through with no ill effects, and held his breath with the others.

Audio problem: After Guinea Pig 4 disappears, the camera looks at Riddler and Catwoman. You hear Riddler giggling, but he has an astonished look on his face for a second and then giggles.

Visible crew/equipment: As the Batboat preps to leave, the rotor wash of the camera chopper is visible playing across the water, and as it takes off, the blades of the chopper are visible as it tries to catch up to the boat.

Revealing mistake: As the Batmobile approaches the camera on the pier, the tire tracks from a previous take are visible on the deck boards, and as the Batmobile nears, it follows the tracks precisely.

Marcus CaptainSlow Belicchi

Revealing mistake: When Robin is trying to get the sub to surface using Bat Depth Charges, the sub is rocking violently. The rack that contains the vials with the Security Council's dust not only sways back and forth, but lies nearly flat several times, and always at impossible angles. This goes against physics, and gravity. The rack should have fallen off the table more than a few times.

Revealing mistake: Whenever you see the underwater shots of the sub, and the torpedoes, you can see the sides of the pool where the filming was done.

Add time

Other mistake: When searching the buoy for clues, Batman goes to take out an obvious screw that was supposed to hold on the panel hiding the projector. The screw is located in the top of a seam where two panels were riveted. After removal, the panel is removed and you can see the seam again that would have been hidden by the panel, as it was tall enough to fit the side from the walkway to the top. Also, the lenses on the projector were obviously fake. Any projector with lenses that badly chipped and faded would have been repaired or replaced. In addition, Batman is supposedly loosening the screw, but was turning the screw to the right, which would be tightening it.

Continuity mistake: At the airport, the Batcopter is ready to fly. As it ascends, look at the front of the bottom side. The only thing there is a standard search light. Later, when over the yacht, Batman drops the Bat-ladder, which appears to be attached to the bottom front next to the light, but wasn't there on take-off. The class of chopper used didn't have room for a hidden compartment.

Add time

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: In the beginning, after Batman and Robin are in the Batcopter, in a close-up shot, you see Robin with the Bat-camera next to him, when there wasn't anything in the cockpit with them when they took off. After he raises it to get a reading and take pictures, a wide angle shot shows them in the chopper with no camera, and then another close-up, and the camera's back.

Add time

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: When Batman and Robin are circling in the Batboat over the submarine with Robin shooting at it inside the circle, the boat is shown circling in the same tight circle while underwater shots of the submarine show it moving forward under the water. The sub's position would have been changing so the Batboat would have had to change position with it.
