Other mistake: Ethan Bishop says to Wilson in the hallway as they plan their last stand "acetylene tank, magnesium flares...I stand in the doorway with my rifle, I shoot the flares, they ignite the tank, we blow the hell out of everybody in this hallway" But why can't he just shoot the tank directly as that would ignite it? Then it would be easier as a bigger target? Just igniting flares alone would probably not ignite the tank anyway as they would not have enough force to pierce thick metal. As he said in previous scene about the tank "if a stray bullet had hit this..."

Audio problem: When the little girl buying ice cream is shot, the sound of the hose that sprays her with fake blood can be heard. (00:31:56)

Kathy: I wanted vanilla twist.

Trivia: The assault takes place on Precinct 9, Division 13. There is no "Precinct 13" in the film. At first John Carpenter wanted to call the film "The Anderson Alamo" (the original title of his screenplay), and at one point he changed the working title to "The Siege." CKK, the film's distributor, was responsible for the misnomer; it rejected Carpenter's titles and came up with the name "Assault on Precinct 13" (which it felt was more ominous sounding) during post-production.
