Continuity mistake: Towards the beginning when Dave is rummaging through his dresser trying to find a tie, he forgets that he's already wearing one which is tied. In the next shot Simon points this out for him (of course he doesn't mention that it's tied, though). But once Dave notices this, he turns around and we can see that his tie is now untied instead. Continuity mistake: When Brittany and Alvin are first shown playing the hot air balloon arcade game, they're holding its joysticks with their right and left hands, respectively. But in the next shot where the rest of the Chipmunks and Chipettes are shown cheering on, both players are suddenly using their opposite hands to control the balloons. (00:04:20)
Continuity mistake: As Theodore asks Simon a question about the arcade game, Simon's left hand jumps from his chin to side between frames. (00:04:40)
Continuity mistake: Seconds before Klaus and Claudia introduce themselves in the café, Brittany shouts at Alvin and then places her left hand at her side. But in the next shot her left hand is extended in Alvin's direction and she's standing in a different location on the floor tiles as well. (00:07:45)
Continuity mistake: When Alvin, Simon and Theodore are in their bedroom getting ready to call Dave in Paris, a nightstand between the beds is missing its drawers during one shot. (00:09:30)
Continuity mistake: When Alvin starts dialing the number to Dave's hotel in Paris, there are 16 buttons on the pad (far too many for a standard phone). But right before the scene changes over to a snoring Dave, his phone now appears with the normal 12 buttons. (00:10:05)
Continuity mistake: When Miss Miller is pulling items of food from a cabinet, the Chipmunks are busy having breakfast. There is a carton of milk on the table right between Alvin and Simon's bowls of cereal. But after a shot of Theodore indulging in his meal, the milk carton is gone. Now Alvin and Simon have two glasses of milk instead, and who knows how they got there because Miss Miller was too busy talking to herself on the other end of the kitchen. (00:11:50)
Continuity mistake: During breakfast, the phone rings and Alvin sprints across the kitchen to fetch it. It's just Theodore playing back a doctored recording of Dave meant for Miss Miller to hear. So Alvin hands her the phone and listens nearby. Suddenly Theodore messes up by hitting the reverse button instead, and Miss Miller seems puzzled. In the next shot where Alvin panics, look in the background: now there's no cord hooked up to the phone. (00:12:35)
Continuity mistake: In the kitchen during Miss Miller's phone call with a pre-recorded voice of Dave, spilled glasses of milk on the kitchen table vanish, only to reappear several frames later. (00:12:45)
Continuity mistake: When Alvin, Simon and Theodore first open the gates to Klaus and Claudia's mansion, two hot air balloons are visible on the right-hand side harnessed to the ground with four ropes each. But in the next shot, all of the ropes have disappeared. (00:13:45)
Other mistake: Before the Chipmunks and Chipettes begin their hot air balloon race, Klaus goes through the rules explaining that each team will be given the opposing team's doll when they reach various destinations across the globe. He then walks over to the Chipettes and hands Jeannette a trunk full of Chipmunk dolls - but they're not supposed to receive any Chipmunk dolls until the race is in progress. (00:14:35)
Continuity mistake: Before the Chipmunks and Chipettes embark on their hot air balloon race, Klaus hands each team a trunk full of dolls. Theodore decides to take a quick peek inside of his, but in the next shot the trunk is turned completely around. (00:14:40)
Continuity mistake: Just before the hot air balloons lift off, Klaus waves a flag to prepare the opposing teams. The ball on top of his flag changes from black to red. (00:15:25)
Continuity mistake: Right before each balloon takes off for the race, Sophie is seen gnawing on a rope and behind her - on the grass next to the Chipettes' basket - a couple of wooden crates are visible. But in the following shot where the teams are in midair struggling to maneuver their balloons, no crates can be seen anywhere on the ground below. (00:15:35)
Continuity mistake: When Klaus signals for the hot air balloons to lift off, Simon is still on the ground reluctant to participate in the race. But soon he catches up to his team's basket and clings to the side right below its sand bags. But just a couple of shots later when Simon remarks "Why didn't I think of that!", all of the sand bags are gone. (00:15:40)
Continuity mistake: After the Chipmunks land their balloon in Mexico, Alvin jumps onto the grass and starts looking around. Between shots, Alvin's head faces one direction and then the other - first facing the scenery, then Simon. (00:20:30)
Continuity mistake: In Mexico where Simon instructs Alvin and Theodore to drop their first doll at the Cluck 'n' Taco, the color of Simon's notepad changes from pink to white. (00:20:40)
Continuity mistake: In Mexico, a man tells Alvin, Simon and Theodore about the annual fiesta. Initially he's standing up, but then he crouches down to their level between shots. (00:21:45)
Continuity mistake: When the Chipmunks are at the outdoor fiesta in Mexico, a heavyset woman jumps into Simon's arms from the horse-drawn rickshaw. But in the following shot, the woman is holding Simon in her arms instead. (00:22:10)
Continuity mistake: As Claudia pedals on her stationary bicycle, a call comes in from Mexico. So she picks up the phone and you can see how a cord is attached near the microphone. When the shot changes to Klaus tanning in his booth, Claudia is visible through its window - but now she's talking on a cordless phone instead. (00:23:55)
