Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Brody approaches the group of teenagers on their smashed boats, the angle cuts to show Brody approaching seen as if from Cable Junction. At this point, there is a huge mistake. The teenagers' boats are clearly visible in the foreground, the kids have all completely vanished, and you can spot the cameraman standing on the boats quite clearly.
Continuity mistake: When Brody thinks he spots a shark, he rings his bell, then begins to descend the watch tower. In one shot you can see a woman with blonde hair, sitting on a beach-chair, at the bottom of the watch-tower. In the next overhead shot, as Brody runs across the beach, the same woman now suddenly has an orange hat on.
Revealing mistake: When the teenage guy is getting attacked by the shark, the shark slams him up against the boat. He attempts to climb back on the boat and the shark pulls him down and the guy rips some wood from the edge of the boat. You can see the cut away part of wood that will be ripped off before he actually rips it off.
Revealing mistake: There's one bit where we see the shark slamming into a boat and gliding along the side with its mouth open. Not only does the shark's latex mouth bend beneath the snout, narrowing from pressure, but within the mouth you can clearly see yellow hydraulic tanks to open the mouth.
Continuity mistake: When the shark is attacking the catamarans with the teenagers aboard, in one shot you see Andy fall backwards, still on the catamaran, and he is barefoot. He is then knocked in the water, and when his friends pull him back out of the water on, he now has white trainers on.

Continuity mistake: In the scene when Chief Brody, his wife & deputy come across the sail boat named "Tina's Joy", they find Tina in it, and during this scene Chief Brody's jacket is placed on Tina's shoulders. The Chief then leaves the sailboat in search of the other teens. Later scenes show the Chief wearing this jacket when in fact he left it with Tina.
Revealing mistake: After Terry has been taken by the shark, her mum stops the speedboat, and starts calling for her. Then the shark starts swimming over to the boat. In a following side shot of the boat, just before the shark slams itself into the speedboats side, you can see a thick line attached to the front of the speedboat, which wasn't there previously, which is probably used to tow the boat to something off screen.
Continuity mistake: When Tina is running away from Eddie in the building on the beach, you see that the building is casting a huge shadow across the beach. But when it cuts to the next shot in which they are running past all their friends, there is no shadow being cast on the shore from the building.
Audio problem: When the shark breaks the katamaran and most of the teens fall into the water by Cable Junction, one of the girls can be heard screaming in the underwater shot of the shark. That is perhaps fine, but the sound of someone screaming as heard under water continues over a few clips from above the surface.
Continuity mistake: When Chief Brody comes home drunk, he finds Ellen and Hendricks sitting talking and he then comes in and pours himself and Hendricks a drink, in order to celebrate the fact that Brody has just given Hendricks his Chief of Police badge. Back and forth between shots, the amount of drink in Brody's glass differs.
Continuity mistake: When Mike is repainting a striped beach-house, he turns to see his friends riding a catamaran, and he then turns and makes a big splodge with his brush on the second stripe from the side, on the beach-house. In this shot note the shape of the paint on this stripe. After Chief Brody rings the bell because he thinks he sees a shark, he begins to climb down the watch tower, and it then cuts to a shot of Mike standing in front of the beach-house - and now the shape of the paint-marks are different - they are lower and smaller.

Continuity mistake: When Terry is water-skiing, her mum is driving the speedboat. The speedboat has the writing "MS 5713 EB" on both of its sides. The sides of the boat are made up of shiplap boarding. In the first half of the skiing scene when we see the side of the speedboat, the writing is printed on the second board down from the top of the boat. However in the second half of the scene, after Terry has been grabbed by the shark, the writing has moved up onto the top board. The condition of the paint of the actual whole boat changes between a few shots too. Sometimes the green paint is totally fresh and new looking, in others it is faded and looks more worn.

Revealing mistake: During the scene in the bar, the first shot shows some kid playing an arcade of some sort, and the shot continues to scroll from right to left. However, all the writing (ie. the arcade machine, t-shirts, chalkboard, and various signs) are all backwards, which means the shot is flipped.
Continuity mistake: When Hendricks enters Chief Brody's office with the diver's camera, the camera is old and very darkish brown, and the middle circular lens has an inside lightbulb-fitting, and the large black torch attached to it is worn and slightly damaged. Yet in the shots of Hendricks saying "Dance?," he is holding the same camera, you can clearly see it is different. The camera is more lighter in colour, the inside lightbulb-fitting from the the middle circular lens has vanished, the black torch is more new-looking etc.,
Continuity mistake: When Brody and Ellen are talking about Mike being seventeen and should have a summer job we see Brody placing his arm on the side of the door entrance. When it cuts to a close-up from behind Brody you can see he has lowered his arm so the camera can get a clean shot of Ellen's face. When it cuts he has his arm back up.
Continuity mistake: When the teenagers are near Cable Junction on their wrecked boats, they see Chief Brody coming towards them on the Police Boat. We then see a close-up of Brody, and from his view he is approaching Cable Junction and the teenagers from front-on, with the teenagers on the right. When we see Brody approaching them as seen from Cable Junction, he approaches them from a completely different direction. He comes from behind them as if he approached from a different side of the island.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Chief Brody comes home drunk, Deputy Hendricks comes over to express his sorrows. When he's leaving/already left, Both Ellen & Chief Brody comment on Hendricks as "Poor Jeff." In the first Jaws film, Brody calls him Lenny. Jeff is actually the first name of the actor who played Hendricks.
Continuity mistake: When Brody is with the photograph developer, who is developing the divers photos for him, he takes a photo from a box and puts it in a tray of liquid, and he then puts the lid of the box on properly. Then in following shots the box lid alternates from on properly, to off slightly.
Continuity mistake: Brodie is racing in his vehicle down the beach to investigate an incident, driving to our left. He then gets out of the car and is shown running down the beach to the left. Unfortunately, the scene was shot with Brodie running to the right. The editor simply reversed the film so Brodie would be running the right direction. You can see backwards writing for about 2 seconds.
Continuity mistake: Brody has a hold of the large power line, and the shark is gliding along straight for it. In all the shots of Brody holding the power line, the green jacket he wears has wet splashes on it. One patch of water on his right shoulder briefly disappears for one shot, the reappears in the following.
Continuity mistake: When Tina and Eddie stumble upon the huge dead whale on the beach, they are standing upon a large sand dune to the whale's left. However in the next scene where everyone is gathered around and Dr. Elkins measures the bites in the whale, the sand dune has mysteriously vanished.
Visible crew/equipment: On the morning after Brody is fired, when his wife gets up from the kitchen table and talks to their house keeper, the shadow of a crew member holding a boom mic can be seen on the wall on the right side of screen, while the shadow of the boom mic is visible above the doorway.
Continuity mistake: When Mike and all of his friends are at the bar, Mike has a glass of coke on top of a napkin, sitting in front of him. However in one shot of Mike saying “yeah, sure,” the coke has vanished. Through the same bar scene items on the bar change their positions, move around, appear, etc,.
Continuity mistake: When Brody is in his office, he pours a coffee. Then in one shot you can see the mug on top of the filing cabinet, and the phone rings and Brody walks over and answers it - both hands empty. Yet when he puts the phone down, he picks up the coffee mug from off of the desk, next to the telephone
Visible crew/equipment: When Larry, Ellen Brody, and a group of others are touring some people around the beach, showing them around, they look up to see Chief Brody in the watch tower, looking out for sharks. In the close-up of Ellen looking up at him, the boom mike bobbing around, is clearly reflected in her sunglasses.
Continuity mistake: After Tina and Eddie have discovered the dead whale on the beach, it fades to an overhead shot of the beach. On the shore there are three sailing boats, one with a white sail, one with a light blue sail, and the other with a dark green sail. Nothing else. Yet in the next close-up of Chief Brody and Dr. Lureen Elkins walking along the beach, an inflatable raft has now appeared on the beach, next to the boat with the dark green sail.
Factual error: When Tina's Joy is rammed, the boat moves away while turning. The boat, given the rate it was turning at and angle of the wind, should have tacked (the sail should have swung to the other side), knocking Tina out, but when it cuts away and cuts back, the boat has mysteriously stopped turning, and not tacked.
