Being John Malkovich

Question: When I originally saw the film at the Midway Theater in Forest Hills, New York there were so many errors, I thought they were part of the movie. There was shaky cameras, boom mics shown in the frame, extras walking around, and lighting devices in frame. I’m not talking once or twice, it was throughout. I ended up leaving. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Question: I get that Craig entered too late after Malkovich's 44th birthday, and was thus doomed to be a prisoner in Emily's mind, with no control over anything. But why wasn't this his fate the first time he entered the portal? Wasn't he too late after Dr. Lester's 44th birthday? Why wasn't he a prisoner in Malkovich's mind?

Answer: He's playing himself.

Question: Why are Dr Lester and his friends all planning to go into one mind? Surely they'd want to go into a mind on their own, otherwise they'd be just trapped in someone else's head. Something that Dr Lester was afraid of in the first place?

Answer: Using John Malkovich extends their life. After Malkovich turns 44, the next portal is a newborn baby. So they couldn't, or didn't want to, wait for another mind to go into.

Question: What is the song played around the end of the main trailer? It sounds a lot like the theme from Brazil if that helps.

Answer: It IS from Brazil. The song is called Brazil, performed by Geoff Muldaur.

Answer: I think you just answered your own question! The answer isn't WHY does he see multiple Malkovich's but why not? Think about it. He's entered his OWN mind...what else would he see?

Question: They show how to get on floor 7/12, but how does one get off? It can't possibly be the same way.

Answer: Some sorta offscreen "half-stairwell door," or a special button at the elevators.

Continuity mistake: Towards the end after Malkovich gets off the phone with Lester, who threatens him, he has hair over his eyes. In the shot through his eyes however there is no hair seen. When it shows his face again there is still hair.
