Aguirre, The Wrath of God

Trivia: During the filming of one scene in a native village, Klaus Kinski hit one of the crewmen over the head with his sword, almost killing him. The man survived because he had a helmet on.

Revealing mistake: At one point when the soldiers are walking through the jungle, one of them steps into a trap and is pulled up into the trees to be killed by Indians. However, if you watch this scene carefully, when the soldier (who steps into the trap) walks into frame you can see a wire already attached to his foot leading up into the trees. He doesn't step into a trap. (00:22:26)

Brother Gaspar de Carvajal: We reached the last pass of the Andes and for the first time looked down at the legendary jungle. In the morning I read Mass, then we descended through the clouds.
