Trivia: For the scene where Woody looks at the merchandise from Woody's Roundup, mock-ups of the toys were shown to Tom Hanks in the recording booth. Hanks' spontaneous reactions to the toys were recorded and used for Woody's dialogue.

Trivia: Tour Guide Barbie's comment about short sighted toy retailers not producing enough Buzz Lightyears in 1995 is a dig at real life toy producers who underestimated the popularity of the first movie.


Trivia: When you see the stars in the opening sequence you can make out a group of stars in the shape of the Pixar lamp.

Trivia: The toy cleaner who comes to repair Woody is the chess player in the preview show on A Bug's Life - in this film he opens a drawer containing chess pieces.


Trivia: At the beginning of the film, when Buzz is battling his way into Zurg's fortress, he has to jump onto several floating discs to get to the (battery) power source. He jumps onto five discs before they collapse under him; each plays a note, the first five notes of the theme from "2001: A Space Odyssey".


Trivia: On the original version, when Buzz says "We have a friend in need", the American flag is shown in the background. But due to the world situation, it was changed to a spinning globe when shown overseas.


Trivia: On the ground of the planted area the toys walk through before they cross the highway is a rusty tin can. This can was the bug bar in A Bug's Life.


Trivia: The exact same "EGGMAN MOVERS" truck used at the end of the first movie can be seen on the road the toys try to cross.

Trivia: On the Al's Toy Barn TV ad, when all the specials are shown from out of the egg, you see the ball from the Luxo Jr short.

Trivia: Along with the bouncing ball from Tin Lamp short, The Al's Toy Barn ad also features the grey teddy bear from the original Toy Story (in the beginning when Woody is doing a sound check, there is a shot where the bear is waving high on a shelf).

Trivia: In the scene where Potato Head is driving the toy car down the aisles of the Toy Barn (after Buzz and the gang split up) and Rex suddenly places the Buzz Lightyear strategy guide in front of his face, if you pause you can see the price for the guide: $4.95 U.S., $50.00 CAN. A little joke on the money exchange between the two countries.


Trivia: The dust in the scene where Woody meets Wheezy set a record for number of particles animated for a movie by computer.

Trivia: When Hamm is flipping through the channels, you can see a portion of 'Luxo Jr', a short film from Pixar, featuring the Pixar Lamp.


Trivia: More tributes and references to Star Wars: at the beginning of the movie the sound of the laser gun in Buzz's arm is the sound of a Star Wars blaster.


Trivia: When Etch copies the map off the TV and Buzz points to "Al's Toy Barn" and says "That's where I need to go.", the address listed beside "Al's Toy Barn" is also Pixar's address in California.


Trivia: One of the biggest in jokes is for Linux users - note the penguin at the end (ie. the Linux logo, complete with red bow tie), singing "you've got a friend in me", in a computer generated film....

Trivia: Before the toys cross the street to the toy barn (just before the accident), when they are in the bushes getting ready to cross, you can see Heimlich - the caterpillar from "A Bug's Life" - in the background, eating a leaf.


Trivia: At practically at the end of the movie when Bo Peep is admiring Woody's fixed arm, if you look in the picture on the calendar in the background it is one of the early pictures of A Bug's Life (shows A Bug's Life type ants carrying food across a leaf).


Trivia: When Buzz lands on the planet at the beginning and is surrounded by Zurg's robots, he fires into a crystal structure which bears a strong resemblance to a group of crystals seen on the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland Park.


Trivia: In the scene in the airport baggage area, it took an average of 70 hours to render each frame.

Trivia: When the toys are playing cards during Woody's nightmare after being "shelved," all the cards are the ace of spades. In fortune telling, the ace of spades represents death.


Trivia: In the beginning of the movie when Buzz is on the moon land looking for Zurg the moon land background is Ant Island from A Bug's Life only in a different colour.

Trivia: Sid's sister Hannah can be seen in the airport when the toys go across the floor in a pet cage. She is with her back to the camera playing with another kid in a black chair.

Trivia: During the scene in the toy store, the toys use a car to get around, in which Rex at some point falls off and starts running after them to catch up. Mr. Potato Head spots him in the mirror with the words "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." written. This is a parody of a scene from the original Jurassic Park movie, where the island visitors tries to escape a T-Rex in the same manner.

Trivia: When Jessie first meets Woody, she exclaims, "Sweet mother of Abraham Lincoln!" Abraham Lincoln's mother was Nancy Hanks, a blood relative of Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks is a direct descendant of an uncle of Nancy Hanks.


Trivia: The shot where Buster licks Woody is a parody of a scene where Aladdin returns from stealing from Abis Mal's gang in The Return of Jafar, another Disney film.

Trivia: During the opening credits at the beginning, a readout reads "Gamma Quadrant" this is a reference to Star Trek. The Alpha Quadrant is Federation space and the Delta Quadrant is where Star Trek: Voyager takes place.


Trivia: Just before the toys cross the road, the dog says "I may not be a smart dog but I know what road kill is." This is a reference to another Tom Hanks film, Forrest Gump, when Tom Hanks' character says "I may not be a smart man but I know what love is."

Trivia: Many of the scenes in this film (the Buzz Lightyear video game, the yard sale, and Woody's nightmare) were originally written for the first Toy Story.

Trivia: Directly after Rex lands back in the car in Al's Toy Barn, Tour-Guide-Barbie quotes "remain seated please" then repeats it in Spanish. This is a reference to the safety spiel on the Matterhorn at Disneyland. (In the Spanish version of the movie, she repeats it in French.).


Trivia: When Buzz lands on the planet and is surrounded by Zurg's robots, they bear a resemblance to Maximilian from The Black Hole, the first Disney movie to NOT get a G rating.

When the characters are crossing the street to get to the toy store, Mr. Potato Head gets his foot stuck on some gum. From the first angle, the gum is at the half way point of the rolling cement drainage pipe. When he barely escapes, the gum is near the lip of the pipe, a foot or so from the end. As the gum sticks to the passing pipe, it appears to be half way between those two points.
