Factual error: The movie takes place in 1843. Dickens is shown to possess a copy of "Varney the Vampire", which is impossible, as it first appeared in serial form in 1845.

Factual error: There are references to failures of novels by Dickens that were actually not written until after the events depicted in the film (e.g. Martin Chuzzlewit and Romney and Son).
