Corrected entry: When Sidney goes back into Stu's house after the killer tried to catch her in Dewey's car, she takes the gun out of Dewey's holster. The ends of her hair are wet with blood. But after she discovers that Billy is still alive after being stabbed, she goes over to him to help him up. The ends of her hair are completely dry.

Correction: So the blood coagulated, which only takes a short while.

Corrected entry: At the school the killer knocks on Principle Himbry's door, he takes a moment to open it so of course the killer could have run, but the following time the killer knocks Himbry opens the door immediately, giving the killer no time to run and hide, but there's still no sign. Is he the Flash?

Correction: I've just watched this scene and Himbry does not answer the door instantly, but in a few seconds. While the killer couldn't run north of the office in that time, there was another room south of the office just a few feet away. He would be able to hide in that room barely in time.

Corrected entry: In the space of 15 seconds (between the time Casey's mom hears her daughter on the phone and the time when she walks out her front door and sees Casey) how did the killer manage to tie Casey onto the swing? It would have taken quite a while to lift her body and twist the ropes around her tightly enough that they held. Stu couldn't have helped as he was with Tatum that night.

Correction: Stu was most likely helping Billy that night, which would cut down the time needed to tie Casey to the swing. Tatum's defense that Stu was at her house on the night of the murder was challenged by Randy, who said that Stu could have been at her house before or after the murder. In fact, Billy shows up at Sidney's house after the murder.

Corrected entry: When the killer first stabs Casey, whilst chasing her outside, you can see that as the killer grabs her, some of Drew Barrymore's real hair fall out from under her wig. (00:10:15)

Correction: The 'hair' is just thread from Ghostface's costume - you can see it swing down from the hand/sleeve as he puts his hand around her.

Corrected entry: When Randy answers the phone at the party and learns that Principal Himbry is dead, his face is very close to the top of the TV screen. However, when Gale and Kenny are watching the recording of the phone conversation in the van, Randy's mouth and nose are directly in front of the camera. The camera that Gale placed in the entertainment center when she first got to the party was situated on top of the VCR, which was in turn placed on a shelf below the actual TV; therefore, Randy's mouth and nose should not have been visible on the recording. If anything, only his waist should have been visible.

Correction: This scene is wrong. When Randy answers the phone, he is on his knees when he says hello then stands up. Therefore, the video camera under the TV recorded his position accurately.

Corrected entry: At the video store, when Stu knocks the movies out of Randy's hands, when they hit the floor it makes a hollow sound, indicating empty boxes.

Correction: Video stories did not put movie boxes on the shelves with the movies in them. You had to take the box to the front counter to actually receive the video.

Corrected entry: When Sidney and Ghost face are fighting in her living room he knocks her down and is sitting on top of her. Ghost face grabs her by the hair and appears to headbutt her and pull her hair and slam the back of her head on the floor at the same time. She then puts her hand on her forehead.

Correction: So where's the mistake? She's lying on her back, he head-butted her in the forehead. Her forehead hurts now so she put her hand on it.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Sydney gets to school and is talking to Gail, the clip that she wears in the back of her hair is silver, but in the next scene when she is at her locker with Tatum and Stu, the clip is brown.

Correction: I just watched this and Sydney is wearing a black & brown leopard print clip in the back of her hair throughout BOTH scenes.

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie when Casey and the killer are on the phone, she locks the front door and says "I am two seconds away from calling the police." If you look at the door while she is locking it, you will see that there are three glass windows at the top. When the killer rings the doorbell, it shows the door and it now has nine glass windows. (00:04:00)

Correction: When she runs to lock it, you don't see the top of the door. They were there all along, you just didn't see them.

Corrected entry: When Randy is explaining the "rules" and he is standing beside the television the batteries fall out of the remote yet he still manages to change the TV over.

Correction: Those aren't batteries. The remote is sitting on the coffee table, behind the popcorn bowl, next to some candy. It goes by quickly, but if you look carefully you can see that it is a piece of red licorice stuck to the side of the remote. This is why Randy hesitates for a quick moment before pausing the film they're watching - he quickly flicks the licorice off the remote with one of the fingers he's holding it with.

Corrected entry: When Henry Winkler opens his door to look for the "kids" that keep knocking, you can see red writing on the wall opposite. When he comes back in from checking out the hallways, that writing is gone.

Correction: The only visible writing is that on a pink notice, which is always there.

Corrected entry: When Sidney and Kenny are watching the tape of the van from inside the party, the scene they are watching, and what actually took place of Randy describing the "rules", there are many differences in what the people say and do.

Correction: Those changes are mostly caused from differences in the point of view between the camera Gail placed and the camera used to shoot the actual movie. i.e. Movie camera in original shot. Gail's camera in van screening.

Corrected entry: Gail Weathers tells Kenny "I'll be right back" but survives the trilogy. We are specifically told that if a character uses this line he/she will be killed. It's a specific 'rule' of the genre.

Correction: Yes, the script gives Gail this line almost as a joke, as she's uttering a line you should apparently never utter in a horror movie, according to Randy. It doesn't mean she should die. If you remember, another of the rules Randy mentions is you can never have sex. Sydney also then breaks one of the 'survival' rules by having sex with Billy just before all the hell breaks loose in the house, but she, too, survives. Therefore this is not a mistake.

Corrected entry: When Sydney is in the police car, she picks up the radio and tells the police that somebody is trying to kill them. Not only does she give the name of the homeowners and the address, but she is attacked in the middle of her conversation, and screams. A few minutes later, Billy grabs her and says that it is a few minutes after midnight, exactly one year after they killed her mother. However, the police don't show until sunrise. What happened in the six hours?

Correction: Just because the last scene started at sunrise doesn't mean that's when the police just got there. They could have been there for hours before hand, shortly after Billy was killed. It sometimes takes the police 1/2 hour to an hour to get somewhere, so they were probably there shortly between the second to last and the last scene. Also, the call Sidney made in the car may not have officially gone through.

Corrected entry: When Sidney and Billy go upstairs to 'talk', Randy says "I think I'll go check on them" and heads for the stairs. In the next scene he's on the couch. What happened?

Correction: This is not a mistake, it's a question. He could have 1) decided to finish watching the movie by himself and/or 2) decided not to disturb Sidney and Billy because he knew they were trying to have a good time.

Corrected entry: When Sydney is attacked by Ghostface in the bathroom at school, Ghostface is wearing black pants and boots, but when Sydney, Billy, Stu, and Tatum are talking in front of the lockers seconds before Sydney goes into the bathroom Billy is wearing blue jeans and vans, and Stu is wearing tan pants and brown boots. How did either one of them change clothes that quickly?

Correction: The attacker in the bathroom wasn't Stu or Billy. Its more likely this was a prankster as he didn't have a knife and it would be too risky for either of them to try and kill her in the bathroom.

Corrected entry: When Casey is looking outside at a tied-up Steve while on the phone with the killer, her hair is hanging over the phone. Cut to the scene of Steve, then back to Casey and her hair is pushed behind her ear. Back to Steve, then back to Casey again - her hair is hanging over the phone again.

Correction: I've just watched this and the hair doesn't move at all.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dewey and Gale are walking down the street looking for the abandoned car, they see two cars coming towards them on the road but when they jump out of the way you can clearly see only one car pass them. And there are no side roads for the other car to turn on to. (01:14:45)

Correction: That's what I thought at first. But after watching it closely, the second car does, in fact, drive by. It's very quick, but it is there.

Corrected entry: When Sid is going back to the house, after being thrown from the window, Randy is limping towards her saying that they have to get out of there. Why is he limping? Gale hit him in the face, but no one touched his leg.

Correction: Maybe he twisted his ankle when he fell over from being hit with the phone.

Corrected entry: When Tatum calls Sidney at 7:15, she reaches over to get the phone. Before answering it her left sleeve is almost to her elbow, but when she answers it, the sleeve is at her wrist.

Correction: Her sleeve slid down while reaching to the phone. It happens all the time a sleeve you pull up usually tends to drop back down to your wrist.

Corrected entry: At the end when Billy uses the voice changer and says time to guess how I'm gonna die, his voice doesn't match the polished voice we heard earlier in the movie on the phone.

Correction: That's because he's screaming it into the voice changer. And he no longer has to hide who he is anyway; Sidney knows he's the killer.

Corrected entry: After Sydney gets attacked at the beginning and is sitting in the back of an ambulance for police questioning, the ambulance says Bayshore, when Woodsboro is inland in California.

Correction: Bayshore is just the name of the ambulance company - it doesn't imply that the ambulance can only operate near a bay or a shore.

Corrected entry: Sidney is talking with Stu and Tatum at the lockers when someone runs buy wearing the Ghostface mask. She runs down the hall, bumping into Billy, then goes into the bathroom and meets the killer. We know it isn't Billy because we just saw him, but how would Stu get into the bathroom without passing by Billy and Sidney?

Correction: It was made pretty clear that it was two other kids that ran through the hall. There is a scene with Henry Winkler (principal) who is expelling the two students due to the prank.

Corrected entry: During the final scene in the house after Billy and Stu are revealed as the killers, Billy and Stu showed that they put a great deal of effort in planning the murders and the cover ups. But they seemed to forget their fingerprints. Their prints were on the cell phone and voice distorter they put in Mr. Prescott's coat pocket.

Correction: There are many ways to conceal fingerprints. One common way is to smear Elmer's glue on the tips of your fingers and let it dry. It is not easy to notice and effectively eliminates your fingerprints. Since they had to touch many things while committing the murders, but still had to appear as themselves, they very likely used a similar method.

Jason Hoffman

Correction: It is also possible Billy and Stu forgot about it. They were obsessed with their plan they just didn't think it through.

Corrected entry: In the garage, Tatum can't escape because the killer locked the door. But once Tatum's killed, the killer leaves the garage without unlocking the door. (01:02:35)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: Tatum walks into the garage, leaving the garage door wide open. The killer then slowly closes the door and locks it. Tatum tries to open the locked door, then opens the outside garage door. Tatum walks over to see the door open half-way, then close, and turns to see the killer in front of the, now unlocked, garage door. Even though the killer is wearing a GhostFace mask, I doubt he can walk through a closed and locked door.

Corrected entry: In the scene in Stu's kitchen at the end, when Billy has just been stabbed by Stu, Stu gives him the knife and is saying to Syd, "Everybody lives but us." When he says that they'll live because they have to plan the sequel, he is gesturing with his hands, with his pointer fingers pointed up. As he's saying, "'Cause let's face it baby, these days, you gotta have a sequel," his hands go in and out of the frame four times. Just as he says "these days," he has his middle finger up on his left hand instead of his pointer finger. Obviously deliberate on the actor's part, but pretty funny.

Correction: Not any kind of mistake in any way whatsoever.

Phixius Premium member

Corrected entry: When Billy, Sidney, and Stu are in the kitchen, Billy licks the blood on his fingers and says "Corn syrup. The same thing they used for pigs' blood in Carrie." However, after Sidney and Stu had sex earlier, there is no way Billy would have had time to smear corn syrup on himself while being stabbed by Ghostface (Stu). We don't see him rub anything on himself. He couldn't have been wearing a packet of fake blood, because Sidney would have noticed it while they were taking off their clothes.

Correction: He could have had blood caps in his pockets. The same blood caps are being used in Halloween parties for making blood come out of your mouth.

Corrected entry: In the beginning of the movie Casey locks the one door twice.Once before she finds out that it's a psycho on the phone and another time after he says "I wanna know who I'm looking at".

Correction: The second time, she may have been checking to assure herself that it was locked.

Corrected entry: Since there were people coming and going to the party after Tatum was killed, and their cars were parked out front, don't you think someone would have noticed a body hanging from the garage door? The news van is also out in front of the driveway the entire time but apparently no one inside sees anything.

Correction: The garage door is on the other side of the house.

Corrected entry: When Dewey comes out the house with a knife in his back, he collapses to the floor twice. (01:23:40)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: He actually falls on his knees and then in the next shot he falls to the ground from that position.

Corrected entry: When the killer comes out of the house, and pulls the knife out of Dewey's back, look close, and you can see that although the knife was in his back very deep, it is totally clean. (01:23:45)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: The killer pulls the knife out of his back and wipes it with the sleeve of his costume. It is certainly not clear enough to see the blade the second he pulls it out of Dewey's back.

Corrected entry: Drew Barrymore was initially to have Neve Campbell's part but due to her hectic schedule she decided to play the role of Casey instead.

Correction: It is explained in a True Life type documentary about Drew that she was deliberately cast as Casey for the surprise effect, since nobody would expect the well known star's character to die when she did.

Corrected entry: (SPOILER)This may be an actual character mistake rather than a goof, but when Billy reveals that the "blood" on his shirt from when the killer "stabbed" him was actually corn syrup, he also has himself stabbed for real, to corroborate his story. But the problem is, it's the same shirt (as demonstrated when he licks some blood off of it and explains it was corn syrup.) So how would he have explained how corn syrup got onto his shirt while he was fighting off a killer?

Correction: Billy only made it look like he was stabbed to fool Sidney. There is nothing to say that he wouldn't change his shirt and make it look like he was wearing that when he was stabbed, before the police arrived.

Corrected entry: Just before Sidney shoots Billy in the head, look at the Ghostface mask behind his shoulder. It looks pristine, but just after you see the big flash from the gun you see the mask has dry blood over it. (01:38:20)

Correction: When Sidney shoots Billy in the face, the bullet comes out the back of his skull causing blood to pour out at the back of his head (if you look at the scene in slow motion this is very clear). Since the mask was behind his head, the blood from the back of his head splattered on the mask.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Dewey and Gale are entering the house where the party takes place he talks to Sidney and says anything like "Hey Sidney" and she replies something like "Anything new about my father?". This is really strange because Dewey dropped Sidney and Tatum at the party about only 5 minutes ago. The conversation gives the impression that they have not talked to each other for a much longer time.

Correction: The reason she asks about her father is BECAUSE Dewey dropped them off five minutes earlier. He drops them off, then leaves (at least, Sidney thinks he leaves), and so when she sees him returning so soon she assumes some urgent news has come up.

Corrected entry: When you see Sidney's dad tied up on the floor just in front you see Stu's bloody hand and you hear dripping blood but you don't see any blood dripping. (01:32:20)

Correction: Although the scene might suggest the blood dripping from Stu's hand, it is not impossible that it is dripping from another bodypart (i.e. his belly) as he has just been stabbed multiple times and is losing a lot of blood.

There was suppose to be blood dripping from his hands but they cut it.

Corrected entry: When Gale and Kenny are watching the "Rules" speech on the delayed tape, you hear Randy say "There are certain rules..etc." and when Randy said this he was standing by the TV. Then Dewey comes and knocks on the camera van, and you see Kenny turn off the tape. But when he turns it off, you can briefly see the tape, and Randy is sitting on the couch watching Halloween, when he should have been standing, explaining the rules, as you never see Kenny or Gale rewind the tape. (01:10:55)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: This is because, as you've already correctly stated, there is about a 30 second delay on the tape that Kenny and Gale are watching. When Dewey knocks on their van's door, the tape has yet to show Randy standing up and doing his horror movie speech.

Corrected entry: In the house when Sidney is attacked for the first time, she runs into her bedroom and tries to call the police using her house phone. When she realises it's engaged (because the other house phone is off the hook), she tries to contact the police via her computer. The police subsequently turn up. Problem is she only got as far as the computer asking what her emergency was. She never stated that she needed the police, so (a) how did the emergency services know what service to send to her, and (b) how did they even know who the request was from?

Correction: 911 has the obligation to respond to every call, despite knowing who called. At times, a caller - or in this case, the typist - can't hang on the line to tell the operator what the problem is or what services are needed. Granted, fire and ambulance services should have also arrived, but that's another argument.

Corrected entry: At the very end when Sidney finds out who is doing the killing, and she's fighting and wrestling around on the floor with the killer, one minute she has black sneakers on, and the next minute she's wearing her boots when she walks through the door.

Correction: The black sneakers are actually the killers, the confusing part is when Sidney pokes an umbrella point in the killer and the view of the sneakers, when the killer drops his knife, are at a reverse angle which makes it look like they are Sidney's, so Sidney appears to have boots on all along.

Corrected entry: Right after curfew is in effect, when Tatum and Sydney are sitting on Sydney's front porch, you see the killer in the bushes in the background. The very next scene is of the video store where both killers, Stu and Billy, are speaking to Randy. The next scene that follows directly is Sydney and Tatum in the grocery store where you see the killer's reflection on the cooler glass. How can the killer(s) be in more than one place if this is all going on at the same time?

Correction: We see two students at the school dressed up as the killer. It is plausible that other students do it too and follow Sidney around as a joke.

Corrected entry: Sydney punches Gale Weathers on the left cheek outside the police station, but afterwards Gale clutches her right cheek, and it's the right cheek on which she gets a bruise. (00:35:05)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: She is in fact punched on the left side of her face. After she is punched she holds her left cheek in her right hand because her microphone is in her left hand. Then the next day when Gale is putting on her make up, the bruise is on her left cheek but faded because of the make up.

Corrected entry: When Kenny is killed, the bag of crisps he was eating are standing up on the side. But when Gale is trying to find Kenny, and looks in the van, the bag of crisps are now laying down on the side, tucked under a shelf. (01:20:15 - 01:22:05)

Hamster Premium member

Correction: There is a long interval between the time Kenny dies and when Gale arrives. After Syd leaves the killer is left alone in the van. When that happened he spread blood all over the van and lay Kenny on top of it. During that time he could have decided to move the crisp packet or even to eat the crisps and then discard the packet under the shelf.

Corrected entry: When the real killer comes into the room and stabs Billy quite a few times, Billy turns around to Sid, he cleans the knife (although there is nothing on it). Then the camera shoots to the killer and he cleans the knife off again, only this time there is a lot of blood on it.

Correction: The first time Stu is wiping fake blood ON the knife. It's a subtle hint that Billy's "death" is staged.

Corrected entry: When Tatum is in the garage, she hears crashing noises and sees the cat. She calms herself and puts her arm on the fridge door as if she was going to close the door, but when the shot changes, her arms are still crossed and she closes the door with her foot. (01:02:30)

Correction: She just puts her hand on the door because she's in shock. She then quickly puts her other hand on the bottles of beer so they don't fall. She had no intention of closing the door with her hand.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Sidney is in the car with the camera man, she sees Ghostface walking behind an intoxicated Randy, but later when she is approached by Stu and Randy (both saying the other is Ghostface), she locks them both out.

Correction: She's panicking and can't think straight.

Corrected entry: When Sidney escapes from the killer in the news van she climbs out the back door that was closed all the time. Later when Gale drives away in the van you can see that the door is still closed.

Correction: The killer could have easily closed it when she left.

Corrected entry: When Randy gets shot by Billy, he spins around on the spot yet in the next shot he's flying through the air and lands on the table.

Correction: He doesn't fly onto it, he just spins and lands on it. His feet never leave ground.

Corrected entry: In the beginning, when Billy is leaving Sidney's room, he climbs out the window and walks away, which isn't possible because all the roofs on the house are slanted and it's at least a two story house. If her bedroom's on the ground floor, why the next night does she go upstairs to get to her room?

Correction: We don't even see Billy moving away from the window long enough to determine if he's walking, crawling, jumping down from a ledge perhaps; we only see him turn away from & out of view of the window.

Corrected entry: When Sidney is waiting for her friend, it's 7:15 and it's dark out. But later, all the stores are closing because of a 9:00 curfew, and it's light as day.

Correction: Everyone's closing their shops to get home before curfew. Most likely, as Syd referenced during that scene, people want to get home before sundown. I know I would if a serial killer was on the loose.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Drew Barrymore is talking to the killer when he has just rang the doorbell, if you look out the window, you can clearly see that her boyfriend is out there talking to the killer.

Correction: Not a mistake. Billy is on the phone with Casey, Stu is talking to Steve right before he grabs him and ties him up.

Corrected entry: Just after the curfew has been set, Tatum and Sidney go to the store, you can see a reflection of Ghostface but, surely the shopkeeper or anyone would notice a man walk in dressed head to toe like a serial killer with a ghost mask?

Correction: It is possible that the killer brought the costume into the store with him in a bag and changed in the back or something, therefore no one would have seen him come in wearing the costume

Corrected entry: As Casey's parents walk into the house and the killer holds the knife above her head to stab her, notice the amount of blood. It is insinuated that he continues to stab her, yet later, when the mom hears her on the phone, the killer raises the knife again to show that no more blood has gotten onto the knife. Kinda weird that the knife seems so clean when Casey's body is completely butchered and bloody.

Correction: It is showed later in the movie that the killer cleans his knife after every kill (demonatrated after he 'killed' Billy and Dewey). We just weren't shown that paticular cleaning.

Corrected entry: In the part where Billy and Sidney are in Stu's parents bedroom, after they've had sex, the killer comes in and stabs Billy. Watch the killer in the background after he stabs Billy - notice that there is no blood on the knife and the killer wipes the knife blade off anyways. Then there's a shot of Sidney, and then it goes back to the killer. At this point in time, there is now blood on the knife and he then wipes the knife blade off again.

Correction: Stu is wiping blood/corn syrup ON the knife the first time, the second time he wipes it off.

Corrected entry: Sydney locks her front door with a chain lock when she's on the phone with the killer the first time, but when she opens it after Billy comes over the chain lock is gone.

Correction: The killer left the house through the front door, thus lifting the chain lock. When he then closes the door the chain lock will of course not be hooked, which is why it's not hooked when Sidney opens it later.

Corrected entry: Before Sidney invites Billy up to her room, he is wearing a blue shirt with a pattern on it. Yet, in the next scene (in her room), if you look closely, you can see that the shirt's pattern has changed.

Correction: Billy removed a blue jacket before heading upstairs so when he was upstairs he was wearing a blue checked shirt. If you look when Billy is standing in the doorway downstairs you can see the collar of the other shirt underneath.

Randy: There are certain rules one must abide in order to sucuessfully survive a horror movie, rule number one, you can never have sex.
[Everyone jeers.]
Randy: Big no-no! Big no-no!
Stu: I'd be a dead man.
Randy: Rule number two, you can never drink or do drugs. [Everyone clacks their beers together.] It's the sin factor. An extension of number one. And number three, never, ever, under any circumstances say "I'll be right back." Because you won't be back.
Stu: Hey, I'm gettin' another beer, you want one?
Randy: Yeah, sure.
Stu: [Dramatically.] I'll be right back!
Randy: Yeah, you bent the rules. I'll see you in the kitchen with a knife.

When Sidney comes running to the house and she sees Dewey come out with the knife in his back she screams "Dewey!" but her mouth says "no!"

The original title of the film was 'Scary Movie', the same title as its spoof.
