Back to the Future Part II
Back to the Future Part II mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the start, when Marty and Jennifer kiss, Marty turns toward his parents standing at the door. The screen door has three lower sections, and the house numbers are black. When Doc says, "Where we're going we don't need roads," it then cuts to Biff rushing out the door. Now, in this shot the changes include a screen door with four lower sections, stone wall differs, the house numbers are bright white, and a light fixture directly over the house numbers. Continuity mistake: When Doc tells Marty, "Don't do anything, don't interact with anyone, and try not to look at anything," note Doc's red shirt design. Then it cuts to a shot of Marty as he says, "I don't get it, I thought you said this had something to do with my kids." The next shot facing Doc, as he says, "Look what happens to your son," his red shirt's design has changed, though it's the same style shirt. The same thing occurs with Doc's yellow shirt with the train design, but it's more subtle. (00:09:25)

Continuity mistake: When Old Biff drives into the garage with Young Biff in the passenger seat, Young Biff (body double) is not wearing a belt, but the belt reappears when they exit the car and Old Biff places the Sports Almanac in Young Biff's back pocket. Also, the Levi's small red tab is now missing from that pocket. (01:07:55 - 01:10:05)

Visible crew/equipment: When Marty realises that the almanac is not inside the dust jacket, a set light can be seen on the far right side of the screen. It can also be seen when he realises where Biff is. (01:21:08 - 01:21:45)

Continuity mistake: When Marty, Jennifer, and Doc head to the 2015 Hill Valley, part of the text on the dashboard is faded, but when they travel back to 1985, the text is completely intact. Additionally, in the second shot, the 'Last Time Departed' is mentioned as Nov. 12, 1955, despite it being Oct. 26, 1985. (00:38:22)

Continuity mistake: When Doc turns the time circuits on as he is about to head over to the high school, the 'Destination Time' is under 'Last Time Departed', but in the next shot, it is back to being over it like normal. It should also be noted that the month is represented by a number in the first shot, but with letters in the second. Additionally, one of the LED's is burnt out in the first, but is back to being lit in the second. (01:23:30)

Factual error: In 1955, Doc says "Sunrise should be in around 22 minutes." This wouldn't be possible as the sky is fully dark (except for a slight bit of light on the other side). If only 22 min from sunrise, even on a stormy overcast morning, the sky would be fairly light by then.

Revealing mistake: When Biff steals the DeLorean and flies off with it, the DeLorean disappears just before it reaches the top of the screen. It appears to just wipe out of frame before it's supposed to. This mistake is visible on the Netflix version.

Revealing mistake: As Doc drops Marty off behind Biff's car, the camera pans across the DeLorean, and we can see Christopher Lloyd has been replaced by a stunt driver. The stuntman can be seen trying to obscure his face. (01:30:26)

Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, when Doc is running down the street after the DeLorean has gone back to 1985, the neon changes from red to yellow. It was red in both 1955 and 1985 in the first film. (01:41:34)

Continuity mistake: When Marty sees his dad punch Biff, he sees his other self standing near the group of people. He pushes between a guy and his date with nobody behind them. In the first film, there are more people behind them that Marty had to push through.

Audio problem: When old and young Biff listen to the end of the football game in the car, as the two are talking back and forth about how old Biff knew what the results would be, the sound of the announcer on the radio lowers and then suddenly disappears altogether... yet neither of them physically turn the radio down or off. The two are shown the whole time talking to each other and both their hands are away from the radio. (01:09:39)

Continuity mistake: When Doc and Marty arrive in 2015's Hill Valley the flying DeLorean (a scale model) is missing the key lock and door handle dent. When it lands (and swaps to a real car) both appear.

Revealing mistake: When the movie begins and the car takes off (achieved with a scale model car) note Doc's stiffness and fuzzy hair, revealing he was replaced by a dummy.

Continuity mistake: 1955-Jen is showing some dresses to a friend when Biff shows up. Watch the man passing by the girls. He walks by twice.

Biff: Go ahead, kid. Jump. A suicide will be nice and neat.
Marty: What if I don't?
Biff: [raising gun] Lead poisoning.
Marty: What about the police, Biff? They're gonna match up the bullet with that gun.
Biff: Kid, I own the police. Besides, they couldn't match up the bullet that killed your old man.
Marty: You son of a...
[Biff pulls back on the gun's hammer.]
Biff: Suppose it's poetic justice. Two McFlys with the same gun.

Trivia: When Doc and Marty arrive back in 1955 to stop the handover of the Almanac, there are 4 versions of the time machine in the area at that time - the one they just arrived in from the alternate 1985, the one Marty arrived in from the original 1985 in the first film, the one Biff arrived in from 2015 in the second film, and the one Doc buried in 1885 in the third film.

Question: Doc Brown strongly believes that nobody should ever find out about their own future. With such a strong conviction, why would Doc tell Marty that his children going to prison is the one event that would ruin the whole McFly family?

Answer: At the end of the first film, Doc says, "what the hell" in response to the letter Marty gave him. So this shows it is not that strong a conviction, especially in the face of definite knowledge about something bad happening. It is also a way for Doc to repay Marty.

MasterOfAll

Answer: Doc advises Marty to not tell him about his future because it may affect his life. It doesn't matter what happens to his kids at all.
