Factual error: A helpful automated voice from Oscorp informs the robbers that "Plutonium-838 is a radioactive material and is highly explosive." No it's not. It is radioactive obviously, but it is not some volatile explosive. (00:09:10)

Plot hole: The crux of the plot (one of the many plotlines, that is) is that Harry Osborn hates Spider-man because he refused to help him when he is quickly dying of the same genetic disease that killed his father. You can see the problem in this sentence already; he is a teenager, but he's dying super-quickly (he already has a large ulcer on his neck) of a disease that didn't bother him with severe symptoms before and that took away his father at 63. No reason is given of this sudden outburst in Harry's case, in fact nobody even acknowledges that such a difference exists.

Sammo

Plot hole: Harry learned about Max Dillon watching the Ravencroft video that lasted just a few seconds; from that he can infer the hatred for Spider-man, but not much else, and he's instantly locked off his Oscorp account, and building, after that. However, when he meets Max, he also knows that he is the one who submitted the design for the Oscorp power grid, which is information he shouldn't have since he had no time nor opportunity to investigate further - plus, all data about Max has been erased, and he never got proper credit for that to begin with. (01:28:50 - 01:36:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the Statue of Liberty tells Spidey "Nice outfit!" the people in the background are in different positions at the cut. (00:21:20)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When the kid dressed like Spidey slips through the barricade, look at his mother in close-up. To her left (right of the screen) there's a guy with white hair that breaks into a sound reminiscent of the famed Aro's Laugh. In the next shot, the guy is in a different position, to the right of the previous position, closer to the asian guy. (02:10:25)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Spider-Man leaves the "I love you" message to Gwen on Brooklyn Bridge, and on the tower of the bridge you can see the American flag. When the bridge is in the background later, the flag is gone. (01:45:15)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Electro pierces the chest of the head of the security, the guy falls at a certain distance from the chair and table of the office, but when Harry saunters off to his body to grab his gun, the dead guy is right by the furniture. (01:40:05)

Sammo

Other mistake: Peter grabs with his web at super-high speed a mug full of scorching hot liquid that he uses to slapstick his way out of the Oscorp security stooges; somehow the cup clashed against his hand staying perfectly filled and unperturbed, but in the next shot the slightest bump spills coffee everywhere. (01:11:20)

Sammo

Visible crew/equipment: We get a good view of the Oscorp corridors, in particular the one outside the closet where Gwen and Peter hide. They kiss and there's a lovely light seeping through the door's window; when they start making out and also quickly when they open the door you can actually see the big spotlight that emits those warm rays. (01:10:49)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Gwen nearly falls off her own flats trying to avoid Oscorp's cartoon security, Peter grabs her. She clings to her and her mug hand is against his arm. She says "Hi!" in the next shot and her arm is lowered. (01:09:20)

Sammo

Revealing mistake: Peter, scientific genius, needs to watch Youtube to understand how batteries work (and will need Gwen later to remind him the obvious relation between magnetism and electricity). As he watches the video, we can easily see it's a dummy page; it has 257,529 views, but two subscribers, and with 92 likes and 0 dislikes has still the bar that shows the like/dislike ratio that is about 4/5. The video is stupidly short, just 20 seconds that say nothing about the topic, and when it's 2 seconds from ending it still goes on off camera for about 6 seconds. (01:03:45)

Sammo

Other mistake: When Peter looks up "Roosevelt hotel", the map result shows "Map data ©2013 Google." The movie was shot in 2013 but takes place in 2014. (01:01:30)

Sammo

Revealing mistake: Electro grabs two cables and unleashes the power of dubstep making every billboard and sign fall. In the shot where the billboard for Mamma Mia and Jersey Boys begin to fall, several extras are running towards the camera and there are a few (like a woman to the left, wearing a white pantsuit and a light purple vest) that are laughing as they supposedly escape terrified. (00:58:30)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Enraged because Spidey is being filmed by cameras, and he is not (best villain motivation ever), Electro sends a wave of electricity towards him. Spidey jumps over police car 7703 (the one that he dented landing spine-first in it earlier) but the slow-motion sequence that follows takes place featuring car 1206. (00:56:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Electro approaches the cables in Times Square, in the overhead shot we see that the person closest to the grate he targets is standing one row away from it. The following shots are consistent with that, even if we can see that there are more people. When he opens the grate in another angle, that person is standing right next to it. And when he digs his hands into the cables, some person with khaki pants is walking across the metal grids, but he wasn't there before. (00:51:35)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: After Gwen says "I'll be moving to England", she takes a breath, swallows, closes her mouth, but in the next shot her mouth is open. (00:50:40)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Harry at the board meeting sarcastically paraphrases the Connors incident mentioning the "giant lizards" you can see Felicia Hardy in background is writing down things, but she isn't in the previous shot. (00:37:05)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: At the board meeting, Harry is playing with his father's electronic seal in a way that displays towards the camera the side with the Oscorp logo. But there are two different camera angles from opposite sides, it can't be facing both at the same time. (00:36:55)

Sammo

Revealing mistake: When Gwen catches Max's elevator in a rush, she clutches to her chest the same mug that when she went through the door was practically horizontal. Luckily it's one of those movie empty mugs people carry for no reason. There's a similar scene the day after when she carries an empty mug - a different one, incidentally - but that's when she is running away from the security and the mug is supposed to be empty. (00:28:20)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: Gwen's phone call;Spidey holds the plutonium in a different position in each shot - at the end he even just has it standing perfectly vertical on its own. After the first two shots -when his arm goes from behind the grill to under his chin - we are not talking about consecutive shots anymore and the camera cuts away each time for over two seconds so it is technically possible he'd change position every time, but it randomly goes from above the grill, to behind, front, and perched on it. (00:11:25)

Trivia: In the Secret Projects division at Oscorp we see two other projects besides the Rhino and Goblin suits, a backpack with wings and another with tentacles. The wings belong to the Vulture and the tentacles to Doctor Octopus.

Question: The is something that I didn't understand in the movie. Spiderman killed Electro, which is something completely out of character. What was Marc Webb thinking?

Answer: Peter didn't set out to kill Electro, but he has to stop him somehow. Overloading him is pretty much all Peter has to work with in terms of stopping Electro's rampage. He doesn't know what effect it will have on his opponent, but he hopes that it will serve to stop him in his tracks, which it does. Had Peter set out with the specific intention of killing Max, that would indeed have been wildly out of character, but he didn't - he simply did what he had to do to stop him. It's unlikely that Max is actually dead anyway; it's well known that Sony intend to bring the Sinister Six into play in upcoming movies and Electro has been a key member of most incarnations of that team, making it highly likely that he'll be back.
