Horrible Bosses picture

Question: Harkin didn't even eat the peanut butter. If so, why'd he get an attack?

Answer: People with a severe peanut allergy can be affected without consuming any. Airborne trace amounts can be inhaled and cause a reaction. In some cases, even touching peanuts is dangerous.

raywest

Answer: Severe reactions can be real, hence you see on some food packaging that the food was made in the same kitchen where they might have prepared nuts in their cooking.

Chosen answer: Because what happens inside her mind when she is dancing is more important than the dance itself. Besides which, the whole movie takes place within her mind before the lobotomy, and most times when you dream, you don't see yourself as others see you.

Question: Alice wants to see her father die for all he did to her. How come Joe doesn't want the same for his father for all he did to him?

Cody Fairless-Lee

Answer: I don't believe Alice said she "wants to see her father die", and I'm not sure what you mean by "for all he [Mr. Dainard] did to her." Alice told Joe that SOMETIMES she wishes her dad would have died instead of Joe's mother. When Joe replied that she shouldn't say that because he is her dad, Alice got his point and did not continue to say anything else, such as that she really meant what she said. What did Alice's dad "do to her"? He did say she wasn't going to Joe's party (which she made up). He told her to go in the house and wanted Joe to leave. After Alice went to Joe's and tried to sneak back into the house after dark, Mr. Dainard told Alice to "leave", just like her mother did. As soon as Alice was out the door, Mr. Dainard immediately followed to get her back and suffered injuries trying to do so (but the "monster" got her). Alice probably didn't know her dad told Joe's dad (deputy) that he did not want Joe seeing his daughter again - she was "off limits."

KeyZOid

What did Joe's dad (Mr. Lamb) "do to him"? He tried to get him to go to summer camp, but didn't make him. He said he wished Joe wouldn't hang around a certain friend (Cary) so much because he kept lighting things on fire - but didn't stop him. When Joe dropped a flashlight on the kitchen floor, his dad told him to pick it up. Mr. Lamb told Joe to make sure he fed their dog Lucy. Mr. Dainard made it clear inside the sheriff's station that Joe was not to be around Alice anymore, so when Mr. Lamb caught Joe with Alice on the street, he put Joe in the police car, took him home, and demanded that he stop seeing Alice and said they could not be friends. I don't see any behavior by Joe's dad that would make Joe want him dead.

KeyZOid

Answer: Because they're two different people who have different emotions, different experiences, and would not react exactly the same way about their fathers.

Question: Why did Fisher tell Johnny about Vortex's secret weapon and the plan to kill the Chinese Premiere? Didn't he at all think he'd be in trouble with the rest of Vortex and his paymasters? Didn't he also think that MI7 would try to stop the plan?

THE GAMER NEXT DOOR

Answer: Fisher was against the idea of killing the Chinese Premier. He was aware of the risk that were would be consequences regarding the other members of Vortex, and told MI7 so they would know about Vortex and try to stop it.

Question: In the game where Doug Glatt makes a dive and the puck hits him in the face. Around that time we see someone step on his ankle with their skate which would have caused some pain, but we see after the game in some pub, Glatt walking around normally. Even with major painkillers, shouldn't he still be limping?

oobs69

Chosen answer: Not necessarily. It would depend on the level of the injury and how much time had passed. It may be that it initially hurt a lot, but after treatment, being wrapped, and prescribed pain killers he could walk fairly normally.

Question: I was wondering if there were any unsimulated sex scenes in the film, because some of them look very real.

Dra9onBorn117

Chosen answer: No. While some NC-17, non-pornographic films do feature unsimulated sex (Nine Songs and Nymphomaniac, among others), it's normally explicitly (heh) clear that it's real, rather than just seeming realistic.

Question: Why did Frank's co-worker (whom he sent flowers to) file a sexual harassment complaint against Frank, when she appeared interested in him?

MekuCube

Answer: It's been a while since I've seen it, but I believe it's because he went behind her back and found out her address without asking her first, which probably came across as a little creepy or stalker-ish to her, even if he didn't intend it that way. It's weird when someone you don't know finds out your address or phone number and contacts you or sends you something.

The Green Hornet picture

Question: Nicolas Cage was originally cast in the role of the film's villain, Chudnofsky. But he left the film just days before shooting. I have searched around on the net trying to find why, but I keep finding unclear and conflicting reports. So why did Cage leave the film?

Quantom X

Chosen answer: There were creative differences between Cage and the film's director, Michael Goundry. For one, Cage, who wanted an unconventional character, suggested the villain have a Jamaican accent. The director rejected that idea and there were others conflicts between the two about how the character should be played. Cage decided to turn down the role.

Question: Dylan and Jamie are sitting on the Hollywood sign discussing life. I didn't think it was possible for anyone to sit on that sign?

Answer: In real life, and since it's restoration in the late 1970s, it is illegal and impossible for anyone to climb and/or sit on the Hollywood sign. It is fenced off and electronically monitored by security 24/7.Unless they found a way to bypass the security, this is movie fiction.

Answer: In the original book, near the beginning when talking about Winnie it says "his arms were so stiff... they stayed up straight in the air for more than a week, and whenever a fly came and settled on his nose he had to blow it off. And I think-but I am not sure-that that is why he is always called Pooh."

Bishop73

Answer: "Pooh" is his name of endearment. If you think about the people in your life, maybe the people you went to school with, you might remember several who were referred to most often by their middle name or their last name, or some nickname or designation other than their first name.

Question: Is Ramin Karimloo (in the grey suit and bowler hat, without his Phantom make up) sitting to our right of Carlotta during the rehearsal for Don Juan Triumphant? (01:39:40)

shorty

Chosen answer: Although that would be funny, I rather doubt that's Ramin Karimloo. From the DVD's special features he revealed that it takes an hour to transform him into the Phantom. Since this was filmed live on stage, it would be very impractical to have him take the makeup off halfway through the musical.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes picture

Question: I'm no expert on apes so can someone tell me if the conversation in sign language that Caesar has with the orangutan is possible? We know that apes can be taught to sign and hereby communicate basic concepts and identify objects. But the orangutan, which has not had the benefit at this point in the film of the mind altering drug, communicates that humans do not like smart apes and, by extension, it has kept its ability to sign secret. This is complex behaviour that requires the ape to understand human motivations and decide to deceive its captors. Is this possible?

Answer: It's not necessarily a sign that the orangutan understands human motivations. It could be, and probably more likely *is*, a sign that the ape has shown its intelligence previously during its stay in the habitat, was abused by the humans as a direct or indirect result, and was subsequently conditioned to play dumb.
