Plot hole: During the later parts of this movie there is much talk about 'continental displacement' and this appears to be happening in the film. The Earth's crust is falling apart because of the heating of the inner core, and all the cities seems to be falling apart since the ground can no longer hold them. When our cast finds themselves surprised to be already over China when they figured to be over the ocean, it is explained that Asia has actually moved from where it was. If this phenomenon is taking place globally, how come the monks in China don't seem to have been disturbed at all? In fact the bell the monk rings as the ocean approaches hasn't even been shaken. The arks are built in between the mountains, but the mountains are apparently fine. Shouldn't they be falling like the rest of the crust?

Law Abiding Citizen picture

Plot hole: Inmediately after Jamie Foxx finds the bomb in the city hall, and he says, "We don't tell the mayor anything", we see Gerard Butler arriving to his property next to the prison, and finally he enters his jail cell. So, in the time between Gerard Butler's arrival to the property and his entrance to the jail cell, Jamie Foxx thought about a plan, picked up the bomb, passed through the traffic and security checkpoints, talked to the warden to get access to the prison, entered solitary, handcuffed the bomb, and still had time to wait for Gerard Butler's arrival.

Plot hole: So he needed the help of a big strong burly guy to flip the safe with the body, end over end to the pit, but he somehow was able to easily get it out of his basement and into the back of his car by himself?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen picture

Plot hole: Simmons stands outside the 'The Monastery' at Petra (not to be confused with 'The Al Kazneh' at Petra where Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was filmed) and looks at the horizon, and he is able to see the Air Force landing with Optimus by the pyramids. It then appears to take them mere minutes to drive over there. This is outright laughable, even accepting that they make the trip in an alien robot car. Petra and Cairo are separated by hundreds of miles of desert, not to mention Israel being between Egypt and Jordan.

Obsessed picture

Plot hole: A detective would never be assigned to a suicide scene, since suicide is not a crime. A detective would only be assigned if the suicide is actually found as a murder. Nor would a detective be assigned to find out about a potential sexual relationship or affair unless it involves a crime.

Sherlock Holmes picture

Plot hole: After the scene at the Houses of Parliament where Irene Adler escapes through the sewer from the clutches of Lord Blackwood, she suddenly appears at Tower Bridge, about 3 miles away. Even assuming she ran there and the journey was skipped, going there makes zero sense. It slows her down, leaves her exposed and limits her exit points - she's got all of London to escape into! The Taking of Pelham 123 picture

Plot hole: During the scene where Ramus is shutting down the power in the tunnel, he shoots off a padlock with a gun with one shot. Aside from being quite dangerous at close range, both Mythbusters and Masterlock have proven this cannot be done with an ordinary gun and ammo, and certainly would be unlikely with one try. I know this used to be run-of-the-mill stuff in movies, but it does not fit modern research that has been done concerning the strength of padlocks vs using guns to open them.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra picture

Plot hole: The super warriors that are given the venom are supposed to be fearless and without self preservation. However, during the scene in the Sahara base when they are helping to get the warheads back from the Joes, one of those men screams out in fear as he falls down the shaft, which makes no sense as the one guy did not scream in frustration when he was bitten earlier by the deadly snake and knew he would die. The Tournament picture

Plot hole: Although it is true that CCTV-camera's are "everywhere", it is highly unlikely they are placed in churches under low angles (MacAvoy's Church) or that two separate ones are pointed at a dumpster in the middle of nowhere (Slade's first kill).

Fast & Furious picture

Plot hole: Throughout the first half of the movie the focus is to locate and find David Park. It is believed this will lead them to Bragga and they can arrest him. However, later in the movie it is revealed that Letty was working with the FBI and was killed running drugs for Bragga. This means that the whole storyline to find Park was useless because they already knew how to get people inside. (00:18:55)

Angels & Demons picture

Plot hole: Towards the end, Patrick takes the 5kt bomb into a helicopter and climbs it away to safety. The problem with that is that the helicopters have a rather low rate of climb - ~10 m/s for military helicopters, less than that for civilian ones. This is the rate of climb at low altitudes, and it is with altitude. He had less than 5 minutes to climb, which would put the bomb at most 3000 meters above the city, and more realistically, one tenth that - just about the optimum height for the bomb to inflict major damage on the Vatican city and the center of Rome.

The Fourth Kind picture

Plot hole: When Abby and her kids are abducted, the sheriff is sitting right outside her house and sees this happening. Yet the video didn't record. Well the sheriff saw it all with his own eyes so why wouldn't his testimony hold up? The tape actually shows the UFO so there's proof right there. (01:08:55)

The Final Destination picture

Plot hole: Throughout the franchise we are taught that when someone intervenes in death's plan that person is skipped until it circles back around for another attempt. However in Janet's case she is skipped by intervention at the car wash but is killed at the movies before the pattern is complete had the last vision unfolded as normal.

Suggested correction: It is revealed that Death screwed around with Nick, as Death always planned the three to die at the Cafe, not earlier. This means that Death was screwing with Nick and his Mall-Disaster premonition.

The Road picture

Plot hole: Despite supposedly being deprived of food, neither of the main characters (nor most of the minor characters) seem to display any signs of malnutrition. They both have all of their visible teeth, their stomachs are not distended and they seem to have a large amount of energy to travel by foot over lengthy distances.

Plot hole: The UN agent boards a 50-year old Russian cargo plane, has to ask the pilot, Delphy, where the hatch is, and yet immediately accesses the triggering mechanism, down to knowing which of the connectors is for the explosive bolts. How likely is that?

Plot hole: There is no way Needy could've caught up to that band that quickly regardless of catching a ride. It probably would've taken her quite a while unless they stayed in one place for a few days.

Plot hole: When the 3 criminals are in the kitchen with Mary's parents, you see a picture of Mary on the fridge. There's no way none of them didn't see it considering they were in the kitchen for an extended period of time.

Surrogates picture

Plot hole: The character Strickland (played by Jack Noseworthy) is born in 1969 (according to his file in the FBI computers that Peters accesses), like Noseworthy himself. Since the character is presumably also approximately 40 years old, this would imply that the film takes place in 2009, which is totally inconsistent with the level of technology needed for surrogacy.

Paranormal Entity picture

Plot hole: At the beginning there is an audio recording of Thomas talking to the police. He explicitly says 'They killed her! They Killed my sister, my mom!' or something to that effect and that Thomas was arrested for the rape and murder of his sister and he killed himself in custody. At the end, his sister is killed and the little epilogue says that the sister's body was found in her brother's arms and when their mother found out about the 'death of her children' she killed herself. That doesn't make sense logically. Thomas was alive when his mother was dead, according to the clip at the beginning.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo picture

Plot hole: When the girl looks at the photos of Martin and his father while on the business trip, Martin is seen with his father and while wearing his boarding school sweater. But Harriet says later that he wasn't sent to boarding school until after their father was killed. Therefore, the sweater would not have been a clue in the earlier part of the movie.
