Best animated movie mistakes of 2009
Continuity mistake: When the house first becomes detaches from its foundation and becomes airborne, Russell is nowhere to be seen, although every angle of the house is shown, including underneath, the front porch and the back porch. He knocks on the door and tells Carl he chased a "snipe" under the porch - but he cannot be seen after liftoff and prior to knocking. The same thing happens near the end, when Dug claims to have hidden under the porch.
Revealing mistake: In the shot right before Coraline finds the hidden door for the first time, she says "Alright Little Me, where are you hiding?" and drops her notebook and pen on the floor. When the notebook and pen are falling, you can see the wires that were used to suspend them while they were being animated. It's a common stop motion technique, but these days they usually try to paint the wires out afterward. It's a pretty severe dutch angle though, and they're only visible for a few frames, so it's easy to miss.
Continuity mistake: After escaping Bean Annex on the motorcycle by going off the ramp, Kylie turns back, sees the wolf and does a double take, and tells Mr. Fox "don't turn around". But when everyone looks at the wolf in the next shot when the motorcycle has stopped, they're looking off to the side of the road, not behind them.
Continuity mistake: When Lex Luthor has his battle suit on and fighting Superman and Batman, the head and neck piece change dramatically and constantly. Sometimes the piece surrounds his head, leaving plenty of room and sometimes his head sticks out over the piece. And it's not a matter of angles, because in some shots, everything being the same, the side piece remains at ear level and his head is either above or below the head piece.
