Trivia: This film is actually the second sequel to "Ringu." The first sequel, "Rasen" was shot back-to-back with "Ringu" with a different crew and director, and some of the original cast. It was then released simultaneously in theaters alongside "Ringu", in hopes that fans of "Ringu" would go to see it. After "Rasen" failed with both critics and audiences, the director of "Ringu" (Hideo Nakata) was re-hired with the original screenwriter and the original cast to film this "alternative" sequel which is written as though "Rasen" never happened. This film want on to be a success, while "Rasen" became the "lost sequel."

She was reportedly intrigued by the devilish role because it was unlike anything else she had ever played, and she enjoyed how the film showed the turbulence of adolescence. She also quipped that she got paid a "shitload of money" and that it was an easy job because she spend most of the film tied to a bed in a comfy nightgown making catty comments.

Trivia: A joke that most don't catch right away: When they're in the hospital after the explosion and the doctor's unwrapping Annette's hand and we see the beer can is still stuck to it. They only make a brief mention to this but never explain that the heat from the explosion made Annette's Lee press-on nails (which are plastic) melt around the beer can making it impossible to get the can off without amputation.
