Continuity mistake: In one of the final scenes where Tom Selleck has a gunfight with Alan Rickman, the time of day during the few minutes (in movie time) the scene takes place varies from noon (full sunlight) to dusk. Just prior to the gunfight, when Selleck is getting ready to draw on Rickman and his two henchmen, there are almost no shadows and there is bright sunlight indicating it is in the middle of the day. Just after the gunfight there are now long shadows on the characters and moments later the camera pans across the hills and the sun is setting.
Continuity mistake: In the scene that Karen is too afraid to take the clothes and the license plate falls off, there is a shot of the windshield which is close enough to reveal the fake registration sticker made for the era in which the movie was represented. The problem is though that not only is it obvious that the sticker is applied on the outside of the window, but the current sticker (inside the window) is larger than the movie prop and can be seen as a "frame" around the other. Continuity mistake: When Kevin Costner gets hit on the head by the top frame of the door, he is knocked out unconscious. Yet, when he gets back up after regaining consciousness, the blood from is head had been running down his nose. Don't you think that as he was lying down in a horizontal position, the blood would run down over the eyes towards the ears?
Continuity mistake: When Buster and his wife Virginia, first get in their 4x4 truck to head down the road, they discover that broken tree limb. Before he yells "stop!", the only part of the road not covered in snow is the tire tracks. After he walks back up the hill (and Annie drives by), the road has no snow on it.
Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie, Jack parks the car in front of a palm tree and walks onto the beach. The shot changes while he stands there for a few minutes. As the shot changes back to show him walking off the beach, the car is no longer in front of the tree, nor does he drive by during the credits. I hope he enjoys his walk back to Miami.
Continuity mistake: When Harry Maddox is about to go for a ride with Dolly Harshaw, he reaches for his shirt and is mesmerized by the legs of his other love interest, Gloria Harper. Gloria catches Harry admiring her, with her head turned backwards, cigarette poised near her lips. In the frames immediately preceding this moment, she clearly does not have a cigarette, lit or unlit, anywhere near her.
Continuity mistake: When Segal and LeBrock are being chased across the field, and they drive the jeep through a gazebo, Segal is driving. However for a split second as the jeep passes through the gazebo Segal is in the driver seat of a right side steered jeep. The license plate also switches sides but reads correctly (left-to-right) indicating that the shot is not mirrored.
