Trivia: The plot of the medical drama that Charles Hawtrey and Hattie Jacques settle down to watch is taken directly from the film "Green for Danger", which gave Jacques her first talking role.
Trivia: The infamous closing scene in which Divine eats dog feces was completely real. The dog was fed steak before filming, and his owner wouldn't let it outside to "go" until they were ready to film. Divine later called a hospital to see if he could get sick from the stunt, pretending to be a concerned parent whose "retarded child ate dog poop" because he was too embarrassed to admit he did it.
Trivia: Sissy Spacek as Poppy never once wears the outfit she's shown wearing on the DVD box art. This is either a publicity still or it came from another movie of hers, The Badlands.
Trivia: Hitchcock's cameo can be seen three minutes into the film, just after the opening credits. As Sir George espouses the virtues of a clean river, Hitchcock can be seen in the crowd wearing a bowler hat.
