Other mistake: Near the beginning of the book, an imp says 'Are you going to warp today, Runt, or will pink flowers grow out of my armpits?' But later on in the book No. 1 says 'Pink! We don't have a word for that colour in the demon commonspeak'.
Other mistake: When the group is in Wilmington, before going to see the dead whale, they run into Duff, a shipmate of Roger's. He introduces everyone, introducing Marsali as 'also Mrs. MacKenzie.' He should introduce her as 'also Mrs. Fraser,' since she is married to Fergus Fraser.
Other mistake: Just before Ray gives Clay the phone in the forest, it mentions a "death that must be paid to God". This should read "debt".
Other mistake: On page 457, when Carpathia is about to murder Stonagal and Todd-Cothran, the orientation makes no sense. Carpathia is standing with a gun to Stonagal's (who is kneeling) ear, and Todd-Cothran is sitting upright in a chair on the other side of Stonagal. There is no way that the bullet could have the trajectory to kill Todd-Cothran without taking a sharp turn upward after passing through Stonagal's head.
Other mistake: In chapter 22, page 107 in the first edition, Eddie is talking and says, "I want some more information on Rocco, that's all. The cops are convinced that Rocco killed him." The second Rocco should be Rodger. As written, the cops are convinced that Rocco killed himself in the third person.
Other mistake: On the back of the book it says that there are mistakes for 'Shark Tale' but inside the book there are no mistakes for that movie.
Other mistake: After Donna tells Tad that he can ride with her to the Camber's place, it says "Ted clapped his hands." It should be Tad, not Ted.
Other mistake: Langdon and Teabing make a point of how John the Apostle looks female in the painting The Last Supper, and claim that it shows that it was not John at all depicted by Mary Magdalene. During Da Vinci's time it was actually common to portray John with long hair and no beard as he was thought to have been quite young when he became an apostle. Furthermore, Da Vinci painted The Last Supper using a new type of paint, which unfortunately did not stand the test of time very well. After only a little more than half a century most of the color had faded and the painting had to be restored. Any female traits in John's face may be the result of whoever restored the painting, not Da Vinci himself.
Other mistake: Digital version: Wade claims to be 18 in the year 2045; he was born in 2024. He is actually 20 years old and yet still in high school. The paper version has the correct birth year of 2026.
Suggested correction: In the paper book (print version), Wade was born in 2026, making him 18 in 2044, the year the book is set in. The year was changed in the Kindle and Apple digital book version to 2024, but that's Kindle's or Apple's mistake (whoever digitized the book first), not a mistake for the original book.
This was Audible's digital copy which is an exact copy from the text.
Audible is owned by Amazon, which runs the Kindle platform. The Audible version is the same as the Kindle version and wrong. I've read the physical paper book and in chapter 14, Sorrento says "Wade Owen Watts. Born August twelfth, 2026."
Other mistake: On page 269 (first edition), Violet and Quigley "saw four tiny words etched over their heads." However, Quigley reads them as, "The world is quiet here", which is five words.
Other mistake: At the beginning of the chapter "Susan" (page 165), it says "The Beamer murmured 'Bit of Luck'". Isn't he with Pamela, unconscious from having too much liquor? (page 167) He couldn't be with the group then run to the liquor store.
Other mistake: In Chapter 9 when Alex and Sayle are having their snooker competition, the math is all wrong. Alex first establishes that there are 24 points on the board. Sayle then gets 1 point, but later fouls so that Alex gets 6 points, then runs the board and gets the remaining 23. This adds up to 29 points. But Alex says that he has won 4000 pounds, or has gotten 40 points.
Other mistake: 'Lottie and Evie sat cross legged on my bed' but the story is from Lottie's point of view so it should say Amber and Evie.
Other mistake: Ron gives Harry a book for his birthday, which he says Fred and George gave him last year on his birthday. He says he wished he had it when he was with Lavender. However, Ron was with her on his birthday last year.
Other mistake: In Chapter Seven, while observing the other camping families, Harry sees babies and toddlers. It is mentioned that he has never seen wizard children who are that young. However, in the previous book, he spent three weeks exploring Diagon Alley and staying at the Leaky Cauldron. No way did he spend so many days there, wandering around shops, and not see a single baby or small child.
Other mistake: During chapter 17, Kay Scarpetta (as narrator) refers to "Dr Anna Zimmer" who helped her deal with the death of Benton Wesley. However, in every other book in the Scarpetta series where she is mentioned, this character has the name "Dr Anna Zenner". It is definitely the same woman - a psychiatrist who speaks with a German accent.
Other mistake: On page 221 of the American hardcover, the third paragraph begins "...wished him luck outside the locker rooms the next afternoon." But Harry couldn't have just been getting to the locker room in the afternoon; Quidditch matches take place in the late morning: the school teams are usually dressed and already on the pitch by 11:00 am.
Other mistake: In chapter 5 Peter slaps his face once with the left hand and once with the right. The only problem is he doesn't have a right hand.
Suggested correction: This is false. The first slap was seen through a mirror. So the angle was flipped. But, he indeed hit himself with his same left hand. You can tell because the guy behind him appears over opposite shoulders in both shots, and because the first shot was through a mirror.
No...it's his right hand.
The correction is valid. The first slap is in the mirror. You can tell he slaps himself on the side of his face where his hair is hanging over his eye, which is his left side. When the 2nd slap happens, he slaps the side of his face where his hair is hanging over his eye, which is his left.
Other mistake: In chapter 30 of the American hardcover edition, Harry and Hermione find seats in the topmost row at the Quidditch match, but when Hagrid comes to tell them about Grawp he squeezes his way through the row behind them. If Harry and Hermione are in the topmost row, there cannot be a row behind them. (Corrected in later Editions).
Other mistake: When Mike tells bill to meet himself and the others at the jade of the orient restaurant Mike tells him the premises has been built recently and when Bill asks him if the food is any good Mike replies "I don't know." When they meet however Mike knows the serving lady by name and implies he has dined before when the serving lady starts to lead them to the private dining room.
